Forgath’s eyes slowly widened as he realized everything he’d said until now—everything about his power, his bribery, his plan, his involvent in murder—literally everything had been heard by soone on the other side and recorded. Even if he ca out of it alive, he wouldn’t live for very long, as Number 2 and 3 would definitely try to kill him.
Forgath’s face twisted in rage.
"You... You don’t know how many people I have under ," Forgath said, his voice rising. "They’re constantly surveilling everything. Every cara, every phone, every computer. You think recording matters? I’ll bury that recording before it ever sees the light of day."
"Oh, can you do that?" Ning asked.
"If you doubt my words, you don’t understand my reach."
"No, I understand your reach," Ning said, stepping forward once again. "I’m asking whether or not you can do that."
He cut off Forgath before he could speak, continuing. "Can you do that when you can no longer use your arms? What about when I poke your eyes out, or rip your tongue off? What about all of them? What if I just killed you? Could you still do it from beyond the grave?"
Forgath took a step back, fear completely drowning his face now. He gulped for a second, realizing just how screwed he was.
"You... you’re not going to kill ," he said.
Ning smiled. "Should we bet on that?" he asked, waving the cheque he had received earlier. "I’ve got a bit of money to bet."
"FROSTVEIL! KILL HIM!" the Imp shouted instantly, moving to the side as he ordered Frostveil.
The woman raised her hands, ready to attack, but by the ti her powers barely activated, Ning was already next to her, grabbing her arm before pointing it to the side.
Forgath took flight as he jumped into the sky, wings beating hard. He shot upward into the night sky, trying to escape.
A beam of white light cut through the air and struck the flying demon.
"Thank you," Ning said as he swiped Frostveil’s leg from under her, knocking her down. Frostveil still tried to fight back, but Ning crossed both her arms, making her powers useless. Ice ford on either side of her, but it did nothing. She tried to struggle, but Ning headbutted her before she could hurt herself and knocked her out.
Once Frostveil was down, Ning finally got to go after the Imp. Ning arrived next to the frozen Forgath and struck him lightly, breaking the ice around his body. Forgath tumbled out, his body wet from the ice, shivering uncontrollably.
He huddled on the ground, staring at Ning. He then turned around slowly, seeing that he was next to the road now, with many cars slowing down to take a look at the accident before continuing on.
"Help!" Forgath shouted. "Help! He’s trying to kill !"
A few people stopped, walking out of the car to see what was happening. They finally noticed Forgath’s situation and rushed out to help. There was a crowd forming soon enough.
They gaped at the sight of it all, wanting to help, but Ning’s presence stopped them.
Ning looked at the crowd, understanding that he couldn’t do here what he wanted to do. "My na is Blackfang. I’m a hero," he said as he crouched and grabbed Forgath by the horns. "I’m taking care of soone evil, so please stay away."
With that said, Ning jumped, taking Forgath along with him into the woods, overlooking a small park.
Forgath tried to claw at Ning, but nothing happened. The Imp panicked.
"Tritus! I need your aid! Tritus!"
Ning was taken aback. So the Imp really was an Imp? He hadn’t been sothing else before that had been changed by Tritus’ powers? He waited for sothing to happen, anything. But even as ti passed, the woods were silent except for the howling wind.
Ning threw Forgath onto the ground and sighed. "Looks like he’s not going to co save you."
"I can pay you still. Please, I can—"
Ning slamd his feet onto the Imp’s chest, striking so hard that his chest caved in. Forgath gasped for a mont, blood spilling from his mouth. He coughed out more blood for a few seconds before life left him. Ning pressed against his chest harder, creating a sickening crunch, breaking all of his ribs, before finally letting go.
He could only then be certain that Forgath had breathed his last breath. Another one of his enemies was dead.
Ning took a breath, finally calming down. It had been a long night, one which he had expected to end hours ago. He looked down at the dead Imp and brought out his phone to let the others know what had happened.
He called Mira and—
"You are strong."
The voice ca from nowhere, sudden and booming. Ning put the phone down, staring around to see its source, but there was none. It simply existed in the air around him.
"Is that you?" Ning asked.
"I am Tritus," the voice said. "Do you wish to be my Apostle?"
Ning blinked for a second, realizing a chance had co up that he hadn’t expected to co so soon.
"What do I get for becoming your Apostle?" Ning asked.
"Power. More than what you have."
Ning nodded slowly. "Sounds tempting. Could you co here and et face to face?" he asked. "I would love to accept it after we’ve talked for a while."
The voice went silent.
Ning waited for a bit, but it soon beca apparent that Tritus was gone. Sothing had spooked him.
Ning continued with what he had been doing and called Mira to let her know what had happened. After so ti, he called lly as well.
The woman answered, sounding tired and lazy. "Can I help you with sothing, Sir Valen?"
"Do you know Forgath, the billionaire?" Ning asked.
"Hmm? I’ve heard of him. Why?"
Ning chuckled. "Good. I just killed him. Get ready to deal with the aftermath."
