Reincarnated in a depressing erotic world but living a normal life (right?) The Veil and the Corola Lumina
"Is this the cave?"
"......"
Earlier that sa night, while various events unfolded, the exploration extended into the Veil. This dinsion, where the natural and the supernatural ceaselessly intertwined, was the destination of the group led by Fionn and the newly incorporated mber of the paranormal research club, Galana. Their mission was urgent: to secure the Corola Lumina, a flower of imnse purifying power, vital for combating the effects of the possession drug, being one of the necessary materials to create an antidote.
"You could at least try to talk a little..."
"If it's not necessary, I see no reason to invest in communication."
"Haaahhh... I see your point... Though..."
As they advanced through the winding passages, the night in the Veil seed to stretch on. The cave was a tangle of stalactites and stalagmites that rose like teeth, with the air humid and heavy, laden with the sll of wet earth and sothing ancient and putrid. From the gloom erged minor creatures: giant worms writhing in the mud, only to be reduced to ashes by runic flas, and blood-sucking bats swooping from the ceiling, struck down by precise lightning bolts that Fionn and Galana activated with efficiency.
"Are you sure this is the right location, Galana?"
Fionn asked, as the charred remains of a creature vanished.
"The Professor said the data was accurate, but this cave is... peculiar."
"The data doesn't lie," she replied in her usual tone, her eyes scanning the rocky walls for any sign.
"The Corola Lumina grows in ether concentrations like this. We are in the right place."
"....I see."
After those words, a brief silence enveloped them, broken only by their footsteps, as Fionn worriedly thought about the other mbers of his group.
"I wonder how Blair and Evianne are doing in the Possession Arena," Fionn comnted, more to himself than to Galana.
"Blair is strong, there's no doubt about that," he continued, as if trying to convince himself. "I'm sure she'll get out of that carnage, but... my biggest concern is what her mind will be like after... everything."
"She definitely won't be the sa."
Galana looked at him, her eyes reflecting an unusual understanding as she stated, her voice barely a whisper.
At that instant, a fleeting mory assaulted Fionn: the first ti he t Galana, her introduction to the club, that veil of guilt and self-loathing that enveloped her. The story Galana had shared with the club, with a mixture of guilt and self-loathing, surfaced in his mind: a stupid mistake of hers in her youth had caused the death of her beloved older sister, a tragedy that led her to join the paranormal research club. Fionn then understood, with painful clarity, the reason for her reserved and distant behavior.
However, there was no more ti for reflection when, without warning, monstrously large spiders suddenly erged from the depths of Dragnir's Tomb itself, their guttural roars filling the cave, taking Fionn and Galana completely by surprise.
"On guard!"
"Yes!!"
In that way, the silent exploration transford into a sudden and dangerous confrontation.
"Watch out!"
Exclaid Fionn, stepping back as one of the creatures lunged.
Without hesitation, both pulled out the runes given by the "Professor".
(Explosion!) (Explosion!) (Explosion!) (Explosion!)
And with a wave of energy blasts, they unleashed lightning and explosive flas in a desperate attempt to defend themselves, montarily illuminating the eight hairy legs and multiple shining eyes of the arachnids.
"There are more than we expected!"
Fionn shouted in dismay, dodging an attack.
"Keep your distance! Use the impact runes!"
Replied Galana, her voice unusually tense, as an electrical discharge struck one of the beasts.
The fierce battle raged in the heart of the ancient cave as they maintained a stalemate, with a slight advantage thanks to the improvised coordination of their runic attacks. Lightning bolts tore through the air and fire explosions repelled the beasts, but the number of spiders was overwhelming. Communication between them was limited to quick instructions and warning shouts, as they tried to cover each other. The shrill roars of the spiders resonated, mixing with the din of combat.
Amidst the chaos, one of the spiders, stealthy as a shadow, lunged from behind towards Galana, who, caught off guard, didn't see it coming.
"Galana, behind you!"
Fionn cried out in despair, his protective instinct overriding everything else. Without hesitation, he threw himself towards her, using himself as a living shield. It was too late to dodge. Before he could do anything else, a torrent of spider web completely enveloped him, instantly immobilizing him while a fierce electric shock coursed through his body.
"Aaaaaahhh...!!!!"
Fionn's cry of pain echoed through the cave like an echo of pure agony.
"FIONN!!"
As Fionn felt his consciousness fading, the last thing he clearly heard was Galana's heartbreaking scream, seeing an army of spiders surrounding them, while Galana positioned herself to face them, with fierce determination.
As darkness completely consud him. In that void dragging him down, a mysterious, ethereal, and sleepy voice, similar to a child's, slipped into his mind, slow and unhurried, as if it had just woken from a long slumber:
"Yawn~... Mmmm... so... is that you?"
It was the last thing Fionn heard before everything went completely black.
