"Heh, you've surprised , rt. I wouldn't have thought my gura could be defeated so easily."
"...Just hear , «Hundred Flas». You've been tricked by Misato."
"So you say, but were you not trying to attack our base, which led to Misato and my fight being suspended?"
"...I think, yes?"
Atleast, he finally had his answer. So, it was indeed their action that caused Haku to hit here. Though it didn't explain, why only target him? He could guess Misato must have poured oil over the matter.
"Just wait, I will definitely teach her a lesson this ti. No, I must pluck apart those rabbit ears and see what the heck she had for brains!"
"I am not letting you do that! I am going to defeat you here, and bring a smile on Misato!"
Haku snarked back, preparing to continue their battle. rt raised the corner of his lips, and inquired.
"Oh, but are you sure you want to deal with ? What if you lose? You will only be lowering your value then."
"...Hmph, I don't care. Though, you speak so tall words for soone of your height. I think I understand a bit why Misato has been around you."
"Too many words!! —«Frigid Storm»!"
Being ever so sensitive to his height, rt's smile twitched at Haku's remark, and made a surprise attack.
It was a 3rd order skill with low chance to inflict «Slow», or «Freeze» ailnt. In appearance, it was like a blizzard blowing away in a straight line as it slowly targeted Haku.
"Impatience is often the downfall of many—«Fire Vortex»!"
A blizzard and the firestorm crashing against each other, neutralising the overall damage.
"The ti's running out, so I am skipping straight to big moves."
"Fine by !"
"Unique skill—«Phantasmal Myriad Foxes»!"
A white fla covered Haku as soon as she activated her passive skill, and then seeped into the ground. Similar to «gura the Fox», but much smaller in size, tens of foxes—no, dozens of foxes composed of white fla fill the surrounding. Their numbers increase with every passing second.
A few foxes had latched themselves onto Haku, squirming and latching to her.
"Fufu. You will be waiting for a world of pain if you let my current appearance deceive you."
"!!"
As if Haku's words were the trigger, the foxes crowding the area pounced at rt from every direction possible. rt presud them to be a work of summon.
Pala often uses a similar sort of cloning skill, so he figured a simple attack should make them disappear. The sole problem was their sheer number. There were hundreds of them.
rt escaped their pounces by backstepping and launched his spells.
"«Swift Magic»!"
He began with skill that allowed him to rapidly use spells. He was going to make up quantity against quantity.
"«Blizzard»! «ga Blizzard»! «ga Flare»! «ga Lightning»! «ga Radiance»! «ga Darkness»! «ga Holiness»!"
"——"
He rapidly fired off his spells, most of them being 1st and 2nd order, and just as he had doubted, foxes started to disappear wherever the magic attack past by.
But soon, he began to notice that despite trying to mow them down, their numbers weren't lowering at all. He tried to test his guess, and this ti, he set his target on one of the foxes over Haku. However the spell was blocked when a fox jumped out of her.
Turn out, the foxes had both offensive and defensive potential.
He had to admit, this was far worse than Pala's cloning. No, even the rumours pale in comparison to the real thing.
"«Magic Shield»! Tch, it will not work, yeah. «Shining Flash»!"
rt first tried by raising a barrier to defend, however the sheer number of foxes imdiately tore it apart. Then he applied the second thod, and fired a light attribute AoE spell next. Oh... and it actually worked! Imdiately, the 12 foxes disappeared.
"So I have to keep up with AoE huh. «Flare Burst»!"
The flare burst travelled in a straight line, this ti reducing their number by 10. Nevertheless, with the sheer number of foxes his opponent had, he had still not halfway done. If there was any silver lining, then it was finding that AoE spells were the best when dealing against her foxes. But with their repeated uses, they'd soon hit the cooldown.
Caughting up to the break in rt's movent, the little foxes tried to swarm at him again. And there was barely any escape route to him, as they're far more agile than him.
"Rgggh!"
One of them knocked the wand from his hand, a groan escaping his lips. Then, just as his stance had broken, another fox jumped and smashed into his stomach. This was the fallacy part of Haku's spell—once you'd fall into her fox's pace, there was hardly any escape.
gradually, rt's HP began to trickle down.
"«Barrier»! «Reflect»!"
As his final asure, he tried to use reflection magic, but even that was dropped in the ocean, the quantity overwhelming him. Like Haku, rt was now suppressed under the bundle of foxes, making even a simple action such as twitching muscle impossible, saving his lone arm outside.
And since they're basically a product of fla, he was receiving a DoT comparable to «Burn» ailnt.
"«ga Healing»! «Extra Healing»!"
Soon even his healing skills found themselves within the confines of cooldown. He raced his mind to think of a solution, or it was a matter of ti before he was eliminated.
"You can heal yourself, but that's barely a relief over an open wound. You might as well do better by taking whatever number down."
She was right. rt only had 10 seconds left to him. However he lacked any magic that could snap him out of this predicant.
Haku smile in satisfaction. This was what made her unique skill terrifying. There was no escape from them, and their number innurable. The only option was to spam AoE spells. And if their damage fall short, the foxes would just jump on them willingly to cancel them, just like he tried earlier.
This was the form of terror that left her opponent to surrender ever since their first match, swallowing them within the effect of her unique skill.
Of course, there had never been anything without its weakness. Albeit, it all boiled down to if they could find that out within seconds of their clash. Otherwise, they would receive not even the respite to think anything.
This was why Haku was assured of her victory. But was it the situation? He had been constantly analysing the unique skill ever since their confrontation began. As a «Wiseman», observation was a basic aspect.
And just as it appeared he had given up, moving not even a single muscle, his murmur spread out. He raised the wand with the only free hand, and activated another spell.
"«Area Healing»! «Healing»!"
It was a 1st order skill, and one of the few healing spells he had in his repository. With his, he had extended his exit to 8 more seconds.
"I see... so that's the weak point of your skill."
"......Oh?"
rt ignored the rapidly dwindling of his HP, and turned the wand in Haku's direction. It appeared he had given up on dealing with the foxes, and converged his focus on one direction.
"—«Magic Boost»!"
Haku narrowed her eyes, though rt ignored it, and invoked a self-buff skill that increased the might of one's spell.
Soon, a panic seized Haku. What was the aning of increasing power when the foxes already required re one spell to vanquish? Perhaps, he wasn't bluffing. There had to be a reason behind using it.
"It's the ga over for you, «Hundred Flas». Unique skill—«Apocalypse»!"
rt triggered the final spell. It was his ultimate technique tha had no parallel. Even at any other mont, no common monster could havecontest against its might, a pure offensive oriented spell ant for boss fights. And what did he did? He raised its might, further boosting its offensive nature.
The other foxes tried on hop in the way, only to disappear as soon as they touched it. The foxes covering Haku, too, jumped out to protect her, only to et the sa fate.
She also trained the aim of her wand at rt, albeit no spell ca out of it.
"You can't use a second magic while your unique skill is acting on. Right, «Hundred Flas? It'd been the sa for Pala too. She also couldn't use them while in cloning mode. You had your monts to finish for good, but you didn't attempt it. No, you couldn't use them would be better term.
And neither you tried to dodge when I attacked you, except having your foxes defend for you. It could only an one thing—you also can’t budge from your spot. It was easy to guess then—foxes were re diversion, only by blasting a strong attack against the caster could one be released from this illusion."
"—You're right. You've incredible insight to figure it out. It's my loss."
«Apocalypse» dawned upon Haku as soon as she spoke her last words.
A double-edge spell. Everything about her could be defined in these words. And of course, when it was a spell ant for boss battle, it would've been impossible for Haku to live through it, and thusly, she sustained overdamage, exiting from the match.
