On our way back from the dungeon, Lana was brimming with a delightful mood. She had that big, broad smile on her face.
"Hehehe~"
"You sure are in a good mood, Lana?"
"Is that even a question?! We got three—three «100% llow Apple Juice» of all things! I can't wait to return back and do the taste testing!"
Maybe Lana's insistence had sohow won over, we used «Ocarina» four tis—the probability of flute summoning a rare monster was 70%—and the rare monster, astonishingly, appeared 3 tis! Of course, we made sure not a single one escaped.
And now that we had quite a good number of apple juice, it would be fine to open one of them, right? Lana's excitent was brimming for that very reason.
"But Lana-sama, please be careful to not overdrink, alright? Also, rember that drink would be shared with everyone."
Ester quickly reigned on her excitent, still... what's with that phrasing like she's going to drink alcohol? I an, it was just apple juice. ...Just an absurdly expensive one.
Inwardly, I also warned myself to make sure Lana doesn't *overdrink*. She would definitely be receiving a punishnt if that happened. No, wait a minute. She did say she would 'taste tasting' it, right? ...Why it felt like one of the famous last lines, 'just one more'—the mont before the situation spirals down. Sure enough, I shouldn't take my eyes off her.
Though Ester did warn, I fear she alone wouldn't be able to keep a strict watch, so I decided to later remind Shizu similarly.
Either way, after farming rare monsters, we also lumbered the golden apple tree, and got «Golden Apple». It was also a rare item, and a delicious one too, sothing I heard. I caught Lana giving them a glance. Hmm, I guess I would split them later. It wouldn't hurt to have them. Just sothing sort of special privilege for one who harvested them. Beside, I was also curious about their taste!
"Hey, Zephyr. Didn't you say we're returning back? Then why are we even heading for the 10th floor?"
"Co now, you forgot the teleportation circle is on that floor?"
We had made our stop on the 5th floor for today. And it ant we were halfway from two routes; one back to surface, and other down to the depth. But there exist only paths for any «Dungeon Activity» player, and it was the depth!
Ahem, joke aside, one of our goals to visit the dungeon was also to train ourselves. In that case, wouldn't it be a pity to co half way and leave without any boss fight? With that reasoning, I took my legs toward the entrance to the 6th floor.
We had already used «Ocarina» chances, so it would be a waste of ti to search the golden tree anymore. So, we didn’t take any detour this ti, and fought through any monster encounter as a form of training.
Wait, it reminded , did I ever explain the boss details to Sierra? I think I didn't.
"And that's why, I am going to start explaining about the boss's skill."
"Huh? ….I am sure we’re missing a whole lot of conversation before going ‘that’s why,’ Zephyr. Haa, fine, the depth it is, then."
I knew they would agree! One of the fun parts about dungeon exploration was finding out the type of bosses it had, and for so, it was those shining treasure chests. They might not have said this, but I know this must be their thoughts inwardly! Surely!
So, I imdiately made my way toward the field boss! The field boss, protecting the entrance to the 11th floor by safeguarding it—not like it could move elsewhere—was a tree shaped monster «Apple Wood». There had been three cavities on its trunk, seemingly to serve as its eyes and mouth. The eight branches of the boss were molded into the shape of a wand.
Clearly, we were up against a monster specialised in magic attacks. And with its roots rooted on the ground, making it immovable, a long-range specialist to boot.
"The field boss can't move from its spot, but it's extrely quick at casting magic. It will also occasionally throw apples towards you."
"Apples?"
"Hey, don't ever think of eating them, Karua. It throws them like a professional pitcher, The average is 160kmph apple throw. A single hit can easily take down half of your HP."
"Is that so? Hn, so an apple you can't have. Understood."
She really was such a glutton. Ever since Karua heard apples make curry taste better, she had been eyeing to gather as many apples as she could, like she was so apple-obsessed demon.
Frankly, I believe she could keep up with the pitching speed, and dare I say, could even catch them.... surely, she wouldn't, right? Just for precaution, I made it clear they're not good for eating. ...Speaking of, it's not like I ever tried them. Were they edible? Whatever.
"Sierra, keep the defense formation active all the ti. Lana, take care of healing, and stay at distance. Also, be prepared to cast «Sacred Barrier» if the field boss tries to target you. Karua and Ester, I will inform you of the boss's movent pattern, so ti your attack whenever the field boss's done with its barrage of spells and engage in hit-and-run tactics. Avoid direct clash, target from its flank."
Like usual, I explained the part about the boss, its movent pattern, and the aspect that must be kept in mind. Affirming that it was clear to everyone, we prepared ourselves and began our field boss challenge!
"Rooooaarrr—"
As we approached it, the field boss released a howl like blast of wind in an attempt to intimidate us. Despite being rooted to the ground, its body sure was quite flexible. It was rustling its body wildly, as if to say 'I can see you.'
A mont later, it turned its wands toward us, their tip glowing in the effect of spell.
"It's about to attack!"
"«Art of Defense - Quad Aegis of Virtue»! «Cover Shield»!"
Sierra also didn't lag behind, deploying her autonomous shield, and activating defense skill to set them up in a defense formation, while also overlapping a second defense skill; a continuous effect skill.
It was the sa combination that had saved us from our opponent's attack during the inter-class competition. The «Apple Wood» launched its fireball-like projectiles, rapidly lambasting against Sierra's shield.
The field boss was strong. It was like I was watching a gatling gun shooting a mass of fire bullets non-stop. So stray fireballs appeared to head our way, so I imdiately prepared my shield for the tank, but one of the autonomous shields appeared and blocked it. I was safe, with no damage. Even while bearing the brunt, she still kept her focus on the surroundings. She was strong.
As a matter of fact, due to her overwhelming defense and autonomous shield that freely hovers in the air, she had been called as «Sierra of the Faithful Shield».
"Roooooaaa———"
Ah, right. We were fighting the field boss. I need to focus.
Soon, the barrage of AoE spells slowed down, until there was no more spell coming our way. It ans it's our turn. Once I confird that, I commanded the team.
"It’s our chance!"
"«Aura Point»! «Shield Force»! «Fire Guard»!"
"«Everlasting Blessing»! «Blessing of the Guardian Dog»! «Blessing of the Sacred Health»!"
"«Full Throttle Drive»!"
"«Elent Shift - Fire»! «Sonic Sword»!"
Now that the long-awaited opening was finally here, everyone swiftly took their action.
It was ti to let loose! Comnse open fire!
