Two days had passed since Eden ushered three new advanced jobs. It was now Monday.
Acquiring new jobs, Shizu and Karua were now training in one of the Interdiate-high dungeons, in a party consisting of Sierra and Karua among other mbers.
I would be guiding them through the final adjustnt of the 4th order skill tree this evening, and show it off during the guild battle. I was honestly looking forward to it.
Of the four chosen mbers, Nico, after having a late start, finally hit the level cap yesterday. Promptly, I had lead her to acquire the advanced job «Treasure Hunt», a high-low ranking job. Phew, at long last, our guild had the Treasure Hunter! Believe when I say it was one of the integral job for any guild.
Nico seed delighted as well, evident from her two-hand high five. Though she looked a bit on the edge... then again, it must be exhaustion after finally achieving an advanced job. I chalked it so.
And now, on Monday, we were once again grinding through the Rare Boss. But, we were greeted with an unexpected situation—
"It's not dropping."
"It really won't drop out, huh~."
Sitting next to Lana, I sighed alongside her.
I sipped on the cold barley tea that Ester had prepared, refreshing my overheated body. We were resting in the safety zone, deep on the lowest floor of the «Armored Beast Iron Plain Dungeon.»
Our sigh was an obvious sign, but to put it in words, our rare boss hunting festival had been through a rocky voyage. Of course, we were incomparable in our combat itself.
With new and powerful jobs, Rina and Nico's contribution had only risen up. The rare boss battles were also dubbed as perfect training grounds. Not only had everyone's overall combat ability improved, but Nico's skill, Last Attack Bonus, had also beco easier to trigger.
Our runs were going well.
I even had enough ti to restore my Flutes multiple tis and bring along Sierra and Karua to help them earn their Mark of Conqueror.
In other words, the thing that eluded us still was our objective—the drop we had been putting effort into.
Even with Nico's Rare Drop Collection and by activating Last Attack Bonus as much as possible, plus stacking Good Luck buffs from «Sachineko-sama», «Koneko-sama», and Golden Cat Coin, the drop rate for Gold Chests had risen to a whopping 30%.
This rare boss never dropped wooden chests, so the rates could be attributed to that as well. We were roughly having three gold chest drops for every ten fights.
With ten fights, that ant six gold chests.
anwhile, we had six Flutes, aning twenty-four uses in total. With a 70% success rate, the rare boss had spawned around fourteen to eighteen tis, overall sixteen on average.
On top of that, Nico had activated Equipnt Drop Rate Up Lv10 from her Treasure Hunter skill tree, which made equipnt drops even more frequent.
Thanks to that, more than half of today's drop had been equipnt. And yet, much to my chagrin, none of them were «Hedonist Beast Iron Sword».
"Ester, how many tis have we gone through a rare boss after this?"
"That's the forty-sixth since the first day. We've gotten twenty-six gold chests so far," Ester replied cheerfully to Lana's tense inquiry, refilling another cup of barley tea.
Wow, I didn't mishear, right? Since the Rare Boss grind began on Friday---no, technically Saturday---we had fought forty-six tis and earned twenty-six Gold Chests. That was crazy.
Terrifice, or I would have said, but it wasn't quite as amazing as it sounded. Even though the gold chests ca from rare bosses, most still contained drops of interdiate-rank high-tier rarity. Only about ten were truly advanced tier drops. Still, that was a decent haul.
I even got another «Advanced Job Ascension Ticket», but decided to save it for now. The guild battle was just around the corner. I could've brought another person for a job change, but mastering a new job required ti. We would be putting the cart before the horse if the advancent ended up with adverse effect in the guild battle.
Ultimately, it would be better to go along with what they'd been best on for now. Unlocking the fourth skill tree added so many new things at once, it could be overwhelming. I'd learned that the hard way over sumr break while ironing out my skills.
Well, putting that aside, I wondered who should be the next guild mber to use it on. Co to think of it, I had yet to know the level Aruru had reached. Alright, let's ask about it later.
The saving grace of this situation was that we'd now have plenty of advanced equipnt. I had managed to replace so of my gears, too.
Now, if only «Hedonist Beast Iron Sword» could also stop playing hard-to-get. Then again, I had heard drop rates were like rarest of rare. Each ti it didn't drop, my hope sank a little lower.
"Zephyr-san, how many whistles do we have left?"
"Six more. If those don't work, we'll call it a day."
"The duel's tomorrow... so we really don't have ti to keep grinding," Rina muttered, resting her cheek on her hand.
She was right. In this world, hunting bosses for specific drops was often seen as foolish. If you wanted a piece of gear, the sensible way was to buy or craft it. That was exactly why Galtaigar had asked for help. After all, the Hedonist Beast Iron Sword couldn't be crafted. It could only be found among drops.
Rina's hope had already been hanging at the thread. But, and while there's that, I still had one last trump card to play.
"This is our final chance. I'll use this."
"This!"
I set the Gold Jackpot (Interdiate) on the table. It was an incredible item---guaranteeing a Gold Chest in the next drop, making the rate 100%.
I lined up five of them, earning everyone's wide-eyed expression.
"I'd prefer to not bring them out, but the situation demands them."
With Nico's assistance, the drop rate of gold chests had been significantly boosted. If I'd bring them out, Nico would be upset, might even feel she wasn't needed. It was a dilemma in my mind for a while.
But, that's where I recall. «Gold Jackpot (Interdiate)» couldn't be used beyond the interdiate dungeon. Then, what would be the best ti to use it? The answer was—Now!!
"Hmph. So that's my business rival, huh?" Nico remarked.
Heh, so she sees them in that way. I must say, it did make my chuckle. Nico sure knew how to crack a joke...Right, Nico? It's a joke, right?
"Ahem. Anyway, let's use it. If we still don't get the sword, we'll stop for today."
"Fair enough. I can't have my ti if I have to co here everyday. Alright, I will overlook this ti only."
She sure had been hoping for laidback life after this, eh? Alas, little did she know, her schedule had already been brimming to limit. Now that she was Treasure Hunter, there was just that much to do! Ahem, but that was a secret best kept to ourselves.
"Hey, Zephyr! Let's hurry and do the rematch! It's my turn to open the Gold Box next!"
"Yes, and it would be my turn to open it together with Lana-sama."
Lana said eagerly, leaning across the table. Even Ester looked fired up.
Seeing everyone so motivated made grin.
"Alright then---let's go!"

So, skipping to the result—it was amazingly gold!
"I got it! The «Hedonist Beast Iron Sword»!!"
"What, you got it on the first try?!"
Unbelievable. She did it, in just one try. I still found it hard to... or maybe, the Princess truly had the luck on her shoulder?
The sword she held up was unmistakably our target. The way she held it up, it looked like a certain sword only a brave could've pulled out! I had to admit, she looked hella cool in that!?
Tch. It now reminded of "Ah, it's not coming out. What a waste, but let's use probability raising items for a throwaway. What?! It dropped?! What the heck had we worked hard for this long.." phenonon in ga. I bet this must be another of Yokai's handiwork. Damn you, Yokai! You really got better this ti. (Graa!)
The sword Lana pulled out was adorned in pale bluish-purple color. I had seen it countless tis in the ga. It was undoubtedly it.
"Wow, this is pretty heavy!"
"Lana-sama, allow ."
"Thanks, Ester! Hey, Zephyr, is this okay? I did it!"
"Nice job, Lana! Well done!"
'Hurray' We high-fived, laughing. Ester stood behind, seemingly to do the high-five with Lana. Afterward, she did the sa with other mbers.
Now, to the second Gold Chest. It was Ester's, and it dropped—
"This appears to be a two-handed spear."
"Oh! It's Skyscrapper!"
—An advanced grade weapon.
It was a double-edged spear resembling her «Leaf Javelin». The silver surface shone with such beauty that it looked more like a work of art than a weapon.
It featured an elegant form and gleam, while brimming with air of might. There were just not enough words that could describe its beauty in perfection!
I wonder why. I felt myself embroiled with newfound excitent. The spear only had one skill, «Super Pierce Lv10», but it was compensated by exceptionally high attack power. It was a piece of equipnt made solely to enact war in mind. By reinforcing it, the spear was perfect partner till the Advanced-high dungeon.
"It's beautiful."
"L-Let take another glance!"
"Now there, Nico-san. Please don't be in such haste!"
It seed I, alone, wasn't excited. This was how we had felt every ti an advanced-grade equipnt dropped.
I then noticed Ester's sparkling eyes as she was spellbound by the spear. It was quite rare for her to give such a long star. Maybe she fancied it?
"Ester, why don't you give «Skyscrapper» a try?"
"! W-will that be fine?|
"Of course, it's all A-okay. I an, who even in Eden uses a two-handed spear, saving you. You've got it as a drop, no one's going to complain."
"Yay! Ester finally has her advanced-grade weapon!"
I knew it. The spear was definitely a match for her. Lana cheered.
"Y-you are really going to use it? Look at this beauty, phew, I have no doubt it would fetch a trendous sum. I think keeping it secure in sowhere safe would be—"
Ah, Nico slipped into her collector persona. A pity for her, I had no intention to keep a weapon as a re show piece.
"Equipnts are made to be used!"
"OH~."
Nico's shoulder slumped slightly, seemingly in dejection.
"I gracefully accept this weapon, Zephyr-dono."
"Go ahead. The spear is strong, incredibly so~. I will be counting you, Ester!"
"Yes, it would be my honor!"
And that's how Ester found a new weapon for her.
Afterward, I stored away the Gold Jackpot (Interdiate), and did another round of boss hunting using Flute's remaining charges. Everyone had a big smile of satisfaction on their faces as we walked out.
The next stop was—«Beast King Galtiger» guild. It's now ti to formally acquire the «White Throne».
