The next day, before Su Yan even got out of bed, a group of old ministers was already waiting outside the Lingxiao Palace.
The servants saw that the Empress was not yet awake, so they did not inform her. When Su Yan awoke, it was around a little past eight in the morning.
anwhile, the ministers outside had been standing and waiting for half an hour.
Listening to the eunuch Little Luzi’s account, Su Yan smiled faintly and said lazily:
"Let them wait; I have yet to wash and have my al."
Little Luzi conveyed her words to the ministers. Hearing this, their expressions turned sowhat grim, but they had no choice but to wait.
Dawdling along, it was already the hour of Si (7 a.m. to 9 a.m). After finishing her breakfast, Su Yan yawned sleepily and said:
"I am not feeling well today; let them co back another day."
Little Luzi imdiately relayed her words outside, and the ministers’ faces instantly turned extrely unpleasant.
The Empress was doing this on purpose, deliberately making them wait outside for so long, with no intention of eting them at all.
So stubborn ministers wanted to argue, but the servants of Lingxiao Palace did not give any response or answer. Reluctantly, pulling each other along, they left.
Seeing them all leave, Little Luzi returned to report back.
Su Yan smiled and said nothing.
She certainly knew their purpose in coming, rely wanting her to release those few people who were locked in the Heavenly Prison last night.
Since she had already locked them up, releasing them wouldn’t be so easy; at the very least, they had to be held for ten days or half a month.
Yawning sleepily again, Su Yan half-closed her eyes and murmured, "Why am I feeling sleepy again."
After saying this, she got up and went into the bedroom, planning to sleep so more.
The day passed with her sleeping on and off, and another day went by.
The ministers who had co yesterday arrived once more early in the morning.
Su Yan simply did not give them any response.
The ministers waited outside all morning, without hearing a single word from the Empress. They knew the Empress was deliberately making things difficult for them, all because several princes from the previous dynasty violated palace rules.
And the entire Imperial Palace was under the Empress’s control; basically, the Emperor did not interfere.
Standing all morning, the older ministers were already dizzy and blurred in vision. Unable to help it, they decided to go back, eat well, sleep enough, and co back again. Surely, they did not believe the Empress would avoid them every day.
