"I’m just worried you are taking them lightly," she sighed.

William was sure she was seeing the entire situation from the opposite stance. If anyone was taking this battle lightly, it was the Black Serpents, not him.

They would never consider a master from the lower realm to be a threat, no matter what he achieved.

After all, masters hailing from the upper realm possessed a specific kind of deep-seated arrogance—a pride that would cloud their eyes and mask their judgnt until it was far too late.

"Just stay close to ," William commanded as they drew closer to the portal’s event horizon. The spatial distortion was beginning to tug at their hair and clothes. "I’m bringing you just in case sothing extra was there."

"What do you an?" Becky didn’t get what he ant. She didn’t even question his choice in picking her for this battle.

She thought he chose her as she was the strongest and most capable master on his side, the one who knew those enemies, as she was one from the upper realm.

It never occurred to her that he picked her for a totally different reason than that. "As you know, this group might not be this strong in the upper realm, but they are well known for their success rate. That made them place lots of conditions to accept missions, and so..."

"You are worried about the client who asked them to co here and take over this world," she said in realisation, while William hid sothing else from her.

In his past life, this world was destroyed by monsters a few years away from now. If those bastards were here and active back then in his past life, then it only made sense to link the two incidents together!

He couldn’t tell who hired them to co here and devastate this world, but he was sure of one thing. No matter who that client was, he wanted them to pave the stage for this world’s destruction!

Their presence here wasn’t a coincidence! The timing wasn’t! No matter who this enemy was, William was sure he was soone strong enough to cause him trouble!

He wasn’t worried at all about the Dark Serpents or the army they brought with them. He was focused on the identity of the one who hired them, and that was why he brought Becky with him.

Even if he had no clue about who the hidden enemy was, he had a feeling that Becky’s presence was needed.

And he would never underestimate his hunch. The spiritual currents of this tiline were diverging from his mory, and having a native of the upper realm by his side was a necessary insurance policy.

William’s path to the portal was a sight to behold. No matter how many enemies he t, the monsters killed them all without any trouble. Soon enough, the new enemies started to grow the sa terrifying dread towards William, clearing a path for him to the portal.

Even if there were thousands of enemies coming out of the portal every passing minute, no one stood in front of William or obstructed his path.

The foolish ones ended up losing their lives in the end, while the new ones got warned by those on the battlefield to clear a path for this ssenger of death.

The air around him was heavy with the scent of ozone and the tallic tang of blood, but William didn’t blink. His eyes were fixed on the swirling violet light ahead.

"Get ready," once arrived at the portal, William resisted the urge to destroy it. The portal was surrounded by a concealnt array, one that had been destroyed a long ti ago by his monsters. The portal was like any portal back at Lara’s city. So William had the way to destroy it if he wanted.

Yet he knew doing so would obstruct his path towards the enemy’s headquarters. And if he did so after passing the portal, destroying it from the other side, then he would destroy his only ans of retreat.

He didn’t want to cross the entire continent to get back here. So he restricted his desire to destroy this portal and moved through it to the other side.

The transition was like stepping into a cold, dark ocean. The pressure was imnse, pushing against his spirit core as the laws of the lower realm gave way to the chaotic energy of the bridge. Lara and Becky stayed close, their auras flickering as they adjusted to the sudden shift.

"Oh, that’s more than I expected." The mont the three of them passed through the portal, Becky couldn’t help but mutter in a low tone, "a castle... That’s sothing rare even to see in the upper realm!"

The air on this side of the portal was different—heavy with the scent of ozone and the rhythmic, terrifying thrum of a gathered legion. But as the shimring veil of the gateway settled behind them, the three companions froze.

Before them, rising out of the earth like a jagged mountain of iron and rock, stood a massive fortress.

It was a titan of architecture, built from fortified stones that shimred with the dull, rhythmic pulse of defensive formations.

The masonry wasn’t rely stacked; it was fused by ancient geotry and reinforced by layers of glowing runes. William’s breath hitched. He recognised this silhouette instantly, a ghost from history books made manifest in the gloom.

"It’s the Lookman’s old fortress... amazing!" he whispered after a long, stunned silence.

The scale was staggering. The fortress stretched across the horizon, claiming an expanse of land that rivalled Lara’s entire city—perhaps even exceeding it. It was built in a terrifyingly efficient pyramid structure.

Massive walls were tiered one atop the other, separated by wide, street-like plateaus between every level. At the very apex of this artificial mountain sat a crowning building. It was brutal and functional, lacking any pretence of aesthetic beauty.

William knew better than to think it was a palace. That building was the heart of this deadly machine.
