The world was pitch black, with a heavy, oppressive layer of clouds.
Rain poured relentlessly on Nianyang’s face and body. She was carrying Shang Wan, with her hands tied behind, unable to wipe the rain off her face, so her eyes stung with pain, almost making her unable to open them!
But what was worse now was that today was also her Weakness Period. She had been carrying Shang Wan for only a short distance, and she was already struggling, gasping for air.
Shang Wan lay on Nianyang’s back, feeling the young girl’s struggle, and felt particularly unsettled.
She reached out to wipe Nianyang’s eyes and face, and said softly,

Nianyang cheerfully replied, "Aunt Li, didn’t you say I was pretentious? Can’t you see I’m trying to please you now!"
"Don’t say that, I was just speaking out of anger before..."
Shang Wan’s voice was weak. She couldn’t deny that she was moved by Nianyang and regretted her earlier impulsiveness.
"Aunt Li, I am the Doctor, and you are the patient. I can’t ignore you." Nianyang, soaked to the skin, shivered from the cold,
"Besides, you’re Ayuan’s mother. Whether you agree with and Ayuan being together or not, you can’t change our determination to be together.
So you’re my mother-in-law. If I ignore my mother-in-law, I would be struck by divine retribution. I still want to live a long life and be happy with Ayuan forever!"
Shang Wan didn’t speak, her eyes getting moist.
So her kindness was only for such a pure purpose?
Just because she wanted to be with her son; what a beautiful love.
But she initially thought of breaking them apart, how wrong she was!
She maintained a distant posture as an elder, not getting close to Nianyang. Only now did she realize, how could this be a pretentious troublemaker!
She was very real.
And not like how Chu Huan had described her.

Nianyang soon brought Shang Wan to the hospital outpatient departnt. Shang Wan’s period of pain relief had passed, and she was wailing in pain.
Doctors and nurses, after a preliminary examination, determined it was acute appendicitis and imdiately prepared for ergency surgery.
Shang Wan had never been in an operating room in her life, even having her child delivered at ho by a midwife.
Looking at the white scenes around her and the cold, sterile atmosphere, she was terrified, and tears welled up.

Nianyang went to complete the admission procedures, keeping her promise to wait outside. She was soaked to the bone, her lips turning white from the cold, and her head ached terribly. But she had promised Shang Wan she’d wait, so she endured for a few hours until Shang Wan was finally wheeled out.
