A very slight movent, hidden in Nianyang’s neck, silently weeping, Li Tingyan was completely unaware.
In that husky voice, almost reduced to a whisper, he murmured softly, "Nini, my wife, I’m really scared, I fear you might never wake up, fear you might never speak to again, that I’ll never have the chance to explain, leaving you misunderstanding , with grievances. I don’t want you to be wronged."
"But I’m also afraid of you waking up, afraid that you are no longer the Nini that I want. I’ve never been this scared before..."
The girl’s eyes were now fully open, clear and bright, no longer as blank and empty as before.
However, having been dormant for so long, waking up suddenly left her mind still in a fog. She wanted to sort through her mories, but an annoying voice kept chattering in her ears.
Unable to resist, she lifted her weak hand, gently nudging the crew-cut head buried under her neck, and spoke with a voice raspier than his,
"What are you doing?"
Rumble.
A clap of thunder exploded inside Li Tingyan’s head.
What did he hear?
He! Heard! What!
Nini actually spoke, is it real?
In an instant, Li Tingyan was so shocked that he didn’t dare to move or look, he could only instinctively respond,
"Is it you Nini, you’ve returned, are you speaking to ?"
Nianyang swallowed, "You’re so noisy."
Li Tingyan suddenly lifted his head, without any warning eting Nianyang’s opened eyes, the mont their gazes locked.
It was like traversing mountains and rivers, enduring countless hardships, finally converging in a galaxy of stars.
Li Tingyan was frozen there, stiffly and chanically reaching out a hand to touch Nianyang’s face,
"Is it really you Nini, is it really you? Am I dreaming?"
"I..."
Nianyang had just started to speak when Li Tingyan swiftly pulled her into his masculine embrace.
He held her so tightly, so fiercely, as if she were a once-lost national treasure, sobbing uncontrollably,
"Nini, I knew it was you, it had to be you, you’ve co back, I knew you couldn’t bear to leave ..."
Nianyang let out a soft hum, struggling to speak,
"Can you let go, I can’t breathe..."
Li Tingyan realized he’d gotten too emotional, quickly calming himself down, slightly releasing his grip, but his arms still wrapped around Nianyang, unwilling to let go.
He had so much to say to Nianyang, but seeing her weary little face, a bittersweet satisfaction filled his heart, leaving him at a loss for words.
Nianyang’s head throbbed, a soft groan escaping her lips, which imdiately threw Li Tingyan’s world into turmoil,
"What’s wrong Nini, are you feeling unwell?"
Nianyang pressed her lips together, her watery eyes gazing at the man’s handso face so near to hers, as her chaotic thoughts slowly and completely settled back into place.
Her long, curled lashes trembled slightly, and the painful mories from before she slept surged violently into her mind.
She rembered calling Li Tingyan all night when she was helpless, only to receive no response because he was stargazing with another woman.
She also recalled how she traversed mountains and rivers to find him, only to be t with his frowned disapproval.
And when she fell into the water, he didn’t hesitate to choose another’s silhouette over hers...
In the end, she was tornted by Phoenix, overwheld by pain, if there’s an afterlife, Ayang, could you love only ...
