"W-wait, what’s going on!? Why’s there another person here!?" Exclaid Prysm in alarm.
"Calm down, we talked about this, rember?" I sighed in response.
"Huh? Oh. Then this is...," She trailed off with a frown, giving Rosary the stinkeye.
Sheesh, what’s her problem?
"Uh...hi?" Responded Rosary with an awkward smile.
"Hmph...yeah, hi," Muttered Prysm with a huff.
"Co on, behave," I sighed in exasperation, lightly chopping the back of her head.
"So, wait, she’s really the one who hit the Frost Dragon with that axe?" Inquired Rosary incredulously.
"Mhm, that’s right. You can tell if I’m lying, can’t you?" I pointed out.
"Right...yes, everything you’ve just said has been true," She nodded, though still looked like she was having a hard ti processing it.
Can’t bla her, I suppose. I an, at first glance, Prysm doesn’t exactly look imposing. She’s short and slender, has a baby face and twintails, so she gives off the impression that she’s even younger than she actually is.
"So, uh...any questions?" I responded wryly.
"Well, you answered just one of my many questions, of which I have a lot more now. For starters...who exactly is she?" She asked .
"Yeah, about that...wait till I’m done explaining and don’t interrupt, because it’s a bit of a long story. It all started when my village was massacred and I was taken prisoner by a certain Noble, the forr Knight Commander...who also happened to be her father...," I began, before continuing and going through the events that followed, including the fact that she possesses the Light Attribute, concluding as I neared the end of the recap, "...and then she suggested that her Skills could be useful to , and once I took a look at them, I decided to give in and let her tag along. And, well, she’s been traveling with ever since."
"Huh...wow, that was a lot. Let start by saying...you can be kinda heartless, can’t you? I an, I do see your side of it, but still," She replied with a shake of her head.
"Yeah, well, for all I knew, she was biding her ti to take revenge against ," I shrugged in my defense.
"Hey, could you stop talking about like I’m not here?" Frowned Prysm, tugging at my sleeve with a pout.
"Whatever."
"Sorry about that, that was rude of us," Responded Rosary with a smile, before adding, "And thank you, young lady, you saved my life. I’m grateful for that."
"O-oh, uh...yeah, whatever, I didn’t do it for you, you just happened to be there, that’s all," She shrugged indifferently.
Heh, textbook tsundere response.
"Wow, Larrk has really rubbed off on you, hasn’t he?" Sighed Rosary as she gave a wry side glance.
Huh? What’s that supposed to an? Also, am I the only one who doesn’t like that ’rubbed off on you’ phrase? It sounds so sexual, and in a kinda creepy way. No? Just ?
"What are you talking ab-...?" Prysm trailed off with a frown, before her eyes widened in realization, "Oh, crap...he says stuff like that to all the ti!"
I do? Yeah, okay, maybe I do. Wait, does that make a tsundere? Nah, no way, that’d imply that I actually care, deep down. But I don’t. I don’t. And if I do, I’ll never admit it, so there.
"I totally an everything I say, so don’t read into it," I huffed in response.
"Hm...I don’t know, my Skill indicates that that’s not entirely true. It usually feels this way when soone’s in denial," Smirked Rosary teasingly.
"Yeah, whatever."
"I never realized how much you say ’whatever’," Giggled Prysm in amusent, shutting up as I glared at her.
"Alright, now for my questions about you," Remarked Rosary, turning her gaze over to with a raised eyebrow.
"It’ll be easier to show than tell...here, give your arm, the one with the fractures," I relented, as I held out my hand.
She nodded and placed her forearm on my palm, before I activated the Spell...Light Attribute: High Speed Healing.
"Oh, wow, I can feel the pain fading. Okay, then, you really do possess both Attributes. How do you hide that on your Status Bar?" Rosary asked curiously.
Huh, she didn’t use the word Heretic. Is she trying not to be offensive or sothing? Honestly, I don’t really care about that. I an, I did deliberately choose to have both Attributes.
"Well...I won’t get into the details, but I have the ability to switch out which of my Attributes are active. And I can have both active simultaneously as well. Whenever I need to display my Status Bar, I just make sure that only my Dark Attribute is active, simple as that," I inford her.
"Huh...I’ve never heard of anyone being able to do that. But, to be fair, I haven’t exactly spoken to many people who possess both Attributes," She mused thoughtfully.
"Yeah, in all likelihood, I’m the only Heretic who can do this, at least as far as I know."
"Oh, you don’t mind calling yourself a Heretic? Don’t you find it insulting?" She inquired in surprise.
"No, not really. I an, it’s easier to say than saying ’I possess both Attributes’ every ti. And it’s just a label, it can’t hurt ," I pointed out objectively.
And honestly, I probably don’t have any right to complain. Think about it, I have it easy, I can pass myself off as soone with only the Dark Attribute with just a thought...but other people who were born with both Attributes and branded Heretics, they can’t do that, their lives were ruined because of it.
"Well, if you say so. One more question...if you use both Attributes freely, how much stronger are you?"
"If this is about the Frost Dragon...I don’t think it would’ve made too big a difference. First off, water Spells would most likely be useless against it. With wind, I suppose I could’ve flown a tiny bit faster and with more control, and if combined with my fla Spells, would probably have inflicted a bit more damage.
Just so you know, I did use a wind Spell to boost my speed when flying. In terms of speed, that was pretty close to my current maximum. The only thing I could’ve done more with that was use the Flight Spell to give better control.
But since we were flying in a straight line, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference in terms of how quickly we got back to town. And, as you know, I also used healing Spells...otherwise, that tail hit would probably have killed us both," I concluded with a sigh.
"Okay, it looks like you’re telling the truth and not hiding anything. Sorry, that wasn’t very fair of ...I just can’t stand what happened to my hotown, and I’m frustrated that I couldn’t do better to prevent it. I shouldn’t project those frustrations onto you, that’s not fair, the situation would’ve been much worse if you hadn’t been there," She replied apologetically.
"Eh, it’s fine. After all, if I’d used my Light Attribute Spells against those Knights, who knows, we might have been able to kill them before they unleashed the Dragon and one of them escaped," I pointed out.
"I don’t bla you for hiding your Light Attribute Spells, all things considered. It’s literally a matter of life or death for you, after all. And after everything you went through in the capital, it’s only natural that you’d be cautious and untrusting of people," She responded with a slight smile, as she patted my head.
"Hey, co on, don’t treat like a kid," I muttered, though it does feel nice.
"Oh, what’s the harm? And you only recently turned fifteen, didn’t you?" She countered with a playful smirk.
"Yeah, well, you sure didn’t treat like a kid a couple of nights ago," I muttered slyly.
"W-well, uh...that was different," She responded as she averted her gaze sheepishly.
"Ahem," Interrupted Prysm as she elbowed my side.
"Hey, that hurt, you little brat," I grumbled as I rubbed the spot she’d hit.
"Let’s just teleport there already, what are we waiting around for?" She frowned as I glared at her.
"Wait, you can teleport?" Chid in Rosary.
"Yup, it makes traveling so much easier. We’ve traveled pretty much throughout the entire nation, and she’s set teleportation points near every town and village in Obsidian, so we can be at any one of them in an instant. So, yeah, she’s pretty useful," I replied with a nod.
"You know, you really should be more honest and appreciative, you two have been traveling together for about three years now, haven’t you?" Responded Rosary with a smile.
"What are you, my therapist?" I sighed in exasperation, before glancing at Prysm, whose gaze was darting towards and away from .
"What’s the harm? Or are you just embarrassed?" Smirked Rosary knowingly.
Fine, I guess it wouldn’t hurt.
"I guess I’d say that I’m, well, not unappreciate of you, or whatever. And, uh...yeah, you did pretty well yesterday with the Dragon, that was nicely done," I muttered awkwardly, as I gave her a pat on the head.
"O-oh, um...thanks, that was...that was nice," She smiled bashfully, before turning away.
"Aw, isn’t she just adorable?" Grinned Rosary, as she walked over and ruffled Prysm’s hair, who struggled a bit with a slight groan but didn’t push her away.
Well, this all went better than I’d been dreading.
"O-okay, let go now," Mumbled Prysm, as Rosary pulled on her cheeks.
"Hey, a thought just occurred to ...what would you have done if I’d reacted to this like most other people would have?" Rosary asked curiously.
"Uh...well, I had my Soul Weapon out and ready if that turned out to be the case," I replied, as I lifted up my jacket to reveal my whip, "I would’ve just extended it out like a needle and tried to kill you."
"..."
"..."
"...remind to never get on your bad side."
