"Have all the Monsters been taken care of?" I inquired, looking around to make sure that the coast was clear.
"Yeah, I think so. The other Adventurers and the Knights who survived the battle are roaming the area to make sure there aren’t any more that are hiding out anywhere. By the way, you can relax, I don’t sense anyone nearby with my Life Detection," Phyurio inford .
"Make sure not to take it down, I can’t afford to risk coming into contact with the Knights. Hm...you look like you’re in pretty rough shape," I remarked, as I glanced him over.
"Heh, yeah...nothing fatal or lasting though, I’ll be fine," He replied with a thumbs up.
"Need any healing?"
"Better not risk it, it could be trouble if the Knights notice. I’ll borrow a healing Magic Item from the Guild later," He responded with a shake of his head, before adding, "You look kinda worn down yourself. Did anyone see you?"
"No, of course not, I’d have left town if anyone did."
"That’s good. So, now what do we do?" He asked .
"Hm, good question. I’m not really sure...we can’t exactly go after the True Nobility since we have no leads regarding their whereabouts. But there’s no doubt they’ll attack again soon, so we should probably prepare for that," I surmised warily.
"What makes you so sure?"
"These initial attacks, I’m quite sure it’s been happening in the other towns as well. I tried calling Ilex and Rosary to find out, but they aren’t picking up. I’ll try again later, hopefully they’re okay.
Anyway, I’m quite certain that these first two attacks have been efforts to weaken us. If they have more Monsters under their control, we’ll probably see more of these attacks until they run out of Monsters, and then they’ll likely swoop in themselves to finish the job once we’re sufficiently weakened," I remarked with a grimace.
"Man, talk about cowardly."
"Yeah, you’re not wrong...but as far as tactics go, it’s pretty smart. Honestly, they might have a pretty good chance of ultimately erging victorious in this battle," I sighed in response.
"Ever the pessimist, aren’t you?" He replied with a wry smile.
"I’d argue I’m being realistic, but whatever. The fact is that this isn’t a great situation no matter how you slice it," I surmised with a grimace.
"Co on, try to see things more optimis-...hm? Hey, I can sense soone heading this way," He inford with a frown.
"Alright, let’s et up against later and discuss things in more detail, I’ll go hide for now," I remarked, as I chanted to turn myself invisible and walked away.
"Got it, later."

Point-of-View: Ilex Sarralot

"Hello? Hey, you in there?" Ca Lynks’ voice, as a loud, obnoxious knocking echoed out from outside my door.
Ugh, co on...I’m so freaking exhausted, give a break! What could he possibly want? It’s past midnight, I was just about to go to sleep. I let out a slight grumble as he continued to pound away on my door, dragging my feet through my living room and into the short corridor leading from the front door.
"Are you up!? Helloooo!?" He called out loudly, hitting the door even louder...he’s gonna break it down at this rate, damn it!
"I’m here, would you cut that out!? What is it?" I responded with a strained sigh, as I swung open the door.
"Good, you were still awake...no ti to explain, co with ! It’s important!" He urged , grabbing my arm and pulling out the door.
"Hey, wait!" I protested, as I broke free from his grasp.
"There’s no telling when the next attack will be, so ti is of the ess-...!"
"Okay, okay, I get it! Just let close the door and lock up!" I interrupted, feeling pretty annoyed.
"Oh, right, sorry. Well, go on, hurry up!"
I swear, if this turns out to be sothing that could’ve waited till tomorrow morning, I’m gonna be so pissed...
I then followed after him, yawning sleepily as we headed through the town...I’m completely and utterly exhausted right now. I think he’s leading to the hotel where the Knights are staying in.
Sure enough, as the hotel ca into sight, he headed inside, taking up the elevator to one of the upper floors and leading to a door, before knocking on it.
We waited a few seconds, but got no response...so he began knocking on the door repeatedly and increasingly loudly. Whoever’s inside this room has my most sincere sympathies.
"I think they’re probably asleep," I remarked wearily.
"Then I’ll just have to wake her up," He replied with a determined look on his face.
Legitimately, my deepest sympathies.
As he pounded on the door incessantly, the sound of footsteps then echoed out from inside, stomping towards the door as an irritated sigh echoed out.
"Do you have any idea what ti it is? Who in their right mind would-...oh, it’s you. Of course it’s you," Ca a woman’s voice, as the door opened slightly and a narrowed eye peered through the gap.
"Hey, this is the whole reason why I called you here, the Commander told you to cooperate with , didn’t she?" He pointed out in response.
"Tch...can’t this wait till morning?" She grumbled irritably.
My thoughts exactly. Not that I know what this is about.
"Nope, it can’t."
"I hate you so much..."
"Ilex, let introduce you...this is one of my fellow Knight Captains, Mysst Jenwell, I requested her presence here. Specifically, to help you master your Soul Weapon Ascension faster, the powers of her own Soul Weapon are perfectly suited for that. Let’s get started with that right away, shall we?" He grinned, as he pushed open the door and dragged inside.
Seriously...why couldn’t this wait until morning?
