"Cheers! Eat your fill and drink till can’t drink anymore, no need to hold back!" Exclaid Ulfar cheerfully, as he held up a beer mug.
"Is this really wise? We attack in less than two days, a feast doesn’t strike as the best idea right now," Remarked Lucifer in bemusent.
"I think it’s fine...there’s bound to be nerves and tension in most of those who’ll be a part of the battle, so this could be a good way to help everyone unwind a bit. We’ll rest up for most of tomorrow, and we should be good to go by the day after," I replied wryly.
It was around 10 PM at night right now, we’d concluded our strategizing a couple of hours ago, making sure everyone knew their roles and whatnot.
After that, the residents of the Haven suggested we throw a feast, and then proceeded to do just that without waiting for any feedback from the rest of us.
Instead of stressing about the battle when we’ve still got a fair bit of ti before we move out and wearing ourselves down ntally, we might as well take our minds off it for the ti being with so good food and drink.
"Wow, the weed down here is really high quality, I can tell for certain since, you know, smoke is my whole thing...we should plant these in Hematite once we take it for ourselves," Grinned Luna, taking a puff of a joint and exhaling through her nostrils.
"Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, you might jinx it," I responded, as I lit up a joint of my own and took a puff.
"Yes, declaring victory prematurely rarely ends well. I don’t particularly consider myself superstitious, but-...," Began Lucifer with a nod.
"But you are a little stitious?" I completed her sentence with a slight chuckle.
"I, er...I don’t believe that’s a real word, but I suppose yes, that’s right," She replied with a look of slight amusent.
"Here, take a couple of hits...you could probably use it after being imprisoned for a couple of centuries," I remarked, passing her the joint.
"Well, I did partake quite often before I was restrained and put under the humans’ control, I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like," She laughed, taking it from and putting it up to her lips.
Her eyes lit up as she took a puff, her shoulders relaxing as she slumped back into her seat with a serene look on her face, letting out a slight hum as she exhaled through her nostrils.
"Heh, that was pretty telling, you must’ve been quite the stoner way back when, weren’t you?" I smirked knowingly.
"Yes, I certainly can’t deny that," She nodded, before turning her gaze ahead towards Izzy, who was with Argent, "I have to admit, I’m still having a bit of trouble coming to terms with the fact that Izzy has taken a human as her lover. But...she seems happy, so I’ll reserve any judgent."
"Speaking of romance...is it really true that you once tried to seduce Azazel but he turned you do-...?" I began, before swiftly trailing off as she gave a fierce death glare.
Hm...yeah, I’m getting the sense that I maybe shouldn’t have brought that up.
"D-did...did he tell you that...?" She muttered with a murderous growl.
"Yeah, he did. He ntioned it to a day or two before we busted you out of your imprisonnt," I inford her warily.
"Tch...that was a long ti ago, I was little more than a child when it happened. Izzy hadn’t even been born at the ti, that’s how long ago it was...that bastard, it’s too bad he lost his body by forming a Contract with you, I have quite a strong urge to tear him apart right now," She growled seethingly.
’Never thought I’d feel grateful for losing my body,’ Azazel chuckled nervously.
"Well, uh, just don’t take it out on , it’s not like I asked for that information, he just volunteered it unprompted," I replied as I took a deep puff of a joint to calm myself down.
"Keep it to yourself or else."
Yeah, I really don’t want to find out what ’or else’ would entail.
"Mhm, got it, my lips are sealed!"
"Good, I trust that you’ll stay true to your word," She responded dryly.
"Well, rest assured. I’m not particularly eager to get on your bad side, so I guarantee you that no one else will ever find out about this," I promised her with a slight gulp.
"Hey, sister, Larrk! What’re you two talking about? Things looked a bit tense a minute ago," Ca Izzy’s voice, as she bounded over towards us with a wave, streaks of sauce all around her mouth.
"Co on, you need to learn how to eat without making such a ss all the ti," Sighed Argent, wiping her mouth with a napkin as he caught up to her.
"It’s all so good though, I can’t help it! Anyway, what were you two talking about?" Izzy asked us again curiously.
"W-well, it’s, uh...," Lucifer trailed off, her mind seeming to blank.
"We were talking about her imprisonnt, I guess I unlocked a bit of residual trauma in her and triggered her a bit, my bad," I grinned sheepishly.
"Oh, er...no need to apologize, there was no ill intent, after all. Actually, it would be best that I face any lingering issues I have and get over them as soon as possible, so maybe I should be thanking you instead," She replied with a laugh.
Huh, I heard a hint of genuine gratitude in there. Nice, looks like that helped get on good side, at least a little bit.
