"Man, this really takes back. It’s been a while since it was just the four of us," I remarked with a wistful smile.
"Yeah...it really has been. And...this’ll be the last ti, won’t it?" Replied Argent quietly, his gaze downcast.
"Co on, we need to lift the mood up! We’ve only got about half a day left, right? Don’t you think we’ll regret it if we’re all down in the dumps and mopey during our last monts with Larrk? So, let’s set aside all negative thoughts and enjoy ourselves!" Grinned Izzy, her voice cracking slightly, before she cleared her throat and reached out, smacking Prysm’s shoulder, adding, "So, wipe away those tears and smile, we should make the most of this."
"I-...y-yeah, you’re right. I’ll have all the ti in the world to cry a-after...after," Nodded Prysm, as she ran her sleeve across her face to wipe her tears away.
"I know...let’s light up a joint or two and just chat. Just like old tis," Smiled Argent.
"Sounds good, bro...let -...oh, right...," I trailed off sheepishly, as I began to try and open my Pocket Dinsion.
"Don’t worry, I’ve got it covered," Replied Argent, as he took out a rectangular box and opened it, revealing several joints.
"Nice," I responded with a laugh, before he picked one up and handed it to .
"Do the honors, little bro. I’ll give you a spark," He remarked, before forming a small fla over his fingertip as I took the joint.
I then put the joint between my lips before moving the end towards the fla, lighting it up and taking a slow puff, exhaling out my nostrils.
"Hey, rember the ti we spent in the Haven? That was the best, I miss those days," Sighed Prysm wistfully.
"Yeah, we did have a lot of fun down there, didn’t we?" I nodded in agreent.
"Mhm! That was a good ti, though honestly, I’ve enjoyed almost every mont of my life after Argent saved . eting you guys was the best thing that ever happened to ," Smiled Izzy gratefully.
"You made quite the first impression...if I rember right, the first thing you did when we t was challenge to a duel," I recalled wryly.
"Heh, yeah, I wanted a good fight. And sparring against you was always so much fun. It’s been ages since we last did that, huh? Let’s spar one last ti-...," She began to suggest.
"I would, but...I’ve lost all my Magic and Skills, rember? With this temporary body I’m in, I just might be the weakest person in this entire world," I reminded her sheepishly.
"Oh...right, I forgot about that. Damn it...this isn’t fair, you don’t deserve this, you-...! I-I’m sorry, I’m the one who said we need to lift the mood up, and here I am bringing it back down," She muttered as she averted her gaze.
"You have nothing to apologize for. This isn’t anyone’s fault...it’s just a case of really bad fucking luck. As much as it sucks, we have no choice but to accept it...denying it won’t change anything," I replied, as I felt a lump in my throat.
I don’t think I can keep it together for much longer, the dam’s about to break.
"Wait...I know! What if we co with you to whichever world you’re going to end up in?" Suddenly suggested Prysm with a hopeful gleam in her eyes.
I...hadn’t even consider that possibility.
"I have no idea if that’s possible or not, but I can certainly ask the Goddess once my ti is up. But I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high...reincarnations like mine aren’t super common, otherwise you’d have tons of people roaming about with mories of a past life intact. So, we should assu that it’s a no go...but hope that it is possible. Well, I say that, but I can’t help but feel-...," I began with a sense of cautious optimism.
"I’m afraid that won’t be possible. The souls of this world are not compatible to be reincarnated into other worlds. They are simply recycled back into this world. And with the current state that this world is in, I’m afraid I cannot allow even a single soul to leave it, let alone however many would want to accompany you. I’m sorry," The Goddess’s voice echoed in my head, before slowly fading as I felt my heart sink.
Damn it...damn it...
"Was that...the Goddess you ntioned?" Inquired Argent, before I lifted my gaze to see bewildered looks on all three of their faces.
"Oh, I...I didn’t realize you guys heard it too, I...," I trailed off as a choked sob escaped my lips before I could stop it.
And that triggered it, I couldn’t keep myself under control anymore, tears began streaming down my eyes as my chest tightened agonizingly.
"H-hey, don’t cry...if you cry, th-then I...I-I can’t stop myself from crying," Whimpered Prysm, her shoulders trembling as her eyes glistened.
"Damn it...why did this have to happen? We’ve been through enough, for fuck’s sake!" Exclaid Argent, gritting his teeth as tears welled up in his eyes.
He then pulled into a tight hug, before Prysm and Izzy joined in, embracing from all sides. They’re so warm...this is so pleasant and comforting. But it’s equally painful...
"I...I-I’m gonna miss you guys so much. You an the world t-to , I-I don’t want to lose you...," I cried as the tears spilled out uncontrollably.
"You took the words out of my mouth, little brother...I don’t want to lose you!"
"There’s...there’s still s-so much I want to do with you, Larrk! A-and now, all I can think about i-is...is how I should have done so much with you way sooner!" Wailed Prysm, her tears seeping into my shirt as she clung onto tightly.
" too...I was so happy when you called your sister. I wanted to hear it again...I know it’s embarrassing for you, but still...I don’t care!" Sobbed Izzy, as she lightly punched my shoulder repeatedly.
"I...I love you guys. I treasure the ti we spent together, and all the mories we made. And I...I always will," I uttered quietly, my vision blurring as the tears continued to pour down my face.
"I love you too, little bro."
"I love you, Larrk."
"Yeah, what they said...I love you."
