When Jessica learned that Xu Feng purposely chose a verbal argunt with the guard to practice his debate for the hearing, she was rendered speechless.

As soone who had their pay raised trendously since the revitalization of the city, she found it hard to believe he was that poor.
But to her absolute disbelief, Xu Feng nodded with a serious look.
"Yes, I’m very short of money." He responded and even extended his hand. "Care to show so charity to the poor and give like 50,000 gold coins?"
"Scram!" Jessica rolled her eyes and hissed.
"Trying to scam money from this poor woman—" She wanted to complain, but all of a sudden, her eyes widened.
In fact, it wasn’t just her, as everyone else in the crowd was startled by sothing.
A shadow—no, a person carrying a weapon had closed the distance and was ready to strike at Xu Feng.
"Watch out!" Jace had sensed the killing intent a bit too late, so all he could do was try to warn him of the danger.
After all, nobody expected an assassination attempt in the Royal Court itself.
"DIE, YOU TRAITOR OF HUMANITY!" The assassin flashed a sinister grin as they believed the assassination was going to succeed.

Although the assassin had attempted to flee after the failed assassination, Xu Feng made sure to bind them really well.
"You can try to commit suicide, but I must tell you know. I’m a healer, so I can always revive you again and again." He said in a very cheerful tone, causing the assassin to shiver slightly.
Their instinct seed to be in full panic mode, almost as if they could imagine the torture scene.
As the guards grabbed the assassin and prepared to transport him elsewhere, Xu Feng dropped one final bomb on them.
"Oh, right, the assassin managed to sneak inside a sacred Royal Court to attempt an assassination. That’s quite pathetic of the guard, and even more so if the assassin sohow either escapes or has their life forfeited. At that mont, I would have reasonable doubt to believe this was deliberately done by soone with imnse power to silence before the court hearing."
