While Sweet Sky was astonished by the item Cindersong retrieved, she didn’t question further. Instead, she focused on finding an ideal spot to place the incense that would attract the Colossus.
A few minutes later, Sweet Sky finally found a spot.
"Over here, Song."
She shared her map and pointed at a particular location. "This area has a sewage system that regulates Garrison City. We can sneak in there and place the incense, which would spread even better."
Cindersong glanced at the location and nodded in approval.
So might question their intention to willingly head down to the dirty sewer, but the truth was that to get to this point, they had trained very hard.
Compared to the sewage, they had suffered more in the training hall.
"You know how to pick, Sky. The sewage is rarely guarded since nobody would be willing to go down there unless they get high pay." Cindersong praised her insight.
"Hehe, it’s all the training hall’s contribution." Sweet Sky smiled sheepishly.
During the training hall, there had been simulations that required them to be imrsed in a terrible environnt.
"Alright, I’ll leave the incense placent for you," Cindersong said as she held her item. "I will cause chaos and force an evacuation."
Their goal was to bring the city to ruin, but not its inhabitants.
"What if so still refused to evacuate?" Before Cindersong made her exit, Sweet Sky asked in a worried tone.
"Then they can only bla themselves, Sky." She shrugged in a nonchalant expression.
"Don’t forget that there had been tons of casualties as of late already. Even we players are dying more frequently."
Prior to coming to Garrison City, they had witnessed the villages’ destruction nearby.
The fact that these villages were so close to the city yet received zero reinforcent goes to show how the Garrison City operated.
Moreover, they had to pay exorbitant fees to enter the city. And when they asked the reason behind, they bragged proudly about their city’s defensive formation.
Yet with such a powerful defensive formation, they refused to accept refugees into the city for protection.
Sweet Sky’s expression turned sour slightly. Although the two of them didn’t say anything, they had indeed seen so NPCs dying just a few ters away from the city’s entrance. And based on those NPCs ’ ragged and bloody clothes, it was clear that they were poor and not the wealthy type.
They weren’t so detective, but even a fool could tell they were denied entry and subsequently succumbed to their injuries.
Despite such an incident, the guard remained unmoved, which seriously caused the two to feel a cold chill.
It was such an inhumane action, but thanks to this, the two also felt less guilt when planning on bringing down the city to ruin.
"When should I place the incense, Song?" Sweet Sky flashed a resolute expression and asked.
"I’ll send you a ssage once it’s done. We will use the Town Token to automatically return to the town." Cindersong said. There was no need to regroup at all to prevent any slight mishap of people spotting them together.
Even when entering the city, they had made sure to enter at separate tis to avoid being seen as associates.
"Okay!" Sweet Sky nodded as the two proceeded to split off.
But after a short while, Sweet Sky suddenly halted her steps. ’Wait, can’t I be the one to cause an evacuation?’
She turned around, only to find Cindersong gone completely.
"..."
It was at this mont that Sweet Sky realized she had been played. To avoid going to the sewer, Cindersong made such a proposal as an excuse.
Not to ntion, the fact that she suggested returning to the town imdiately ant that she had no intention of being involved with her once she got the sewage sll on her.
"Ahhh, nobody is innocent and kind in the Vanguard Guild." Sweet Sky winced, feeling like she had been quite a fool.
Alas, no matter the emotion she felt, the job still needed to be done.
Similar situations had been played out in the other teams, with the most intense one being the team with Carn and Veronica.
Numon City...
"Wow, you seriously tried to trick ?" Veronica glanced at Carn in utter disbelief.
As soone who had to deal with so many people and paperwork, how could she not discern the deliberate sche from Carn?
And calling it deliberate was her being nice. If it were soone else, then Veronica would have long slapped the crap out of them.
"How did I try to trick you?" Carn held an innocent and confused expression.
"You have a lot of guts, Carn. Telling to cause a disruption in the city by claiming the Colossuses are coming. Aren’t you just trying to get detained?"
"Now, that’s not quite accurate. I only said to spread chaos and not about getting caught. You can simply mingle in with the crowd and shout loudly."
Veronica narrowed her eyes in a cold light. She was flabbergasted by how corrupted Carn had beco.
Was that really sothing a human should say?
"Why don’t you cause a disruption while I place the incense down?" Veronica suggested. "I’m low level and barely have any escape tools, unlike you, who have those Void Portals to swoop in and swoop out."
"But then where’s the fun in that?" Carn fidgeted with her fingers. "Feng is going to probably take a while on the court hearing or ssing with people attending it. If so, I also want to drop the incense and fight so of the authorities for fun."
"..."
Veronica’s eyes widened in disbelief. She had thought Carn wanted a laidback job, but in reality, Carn actually harbored thoughts of confronting the NPC law enforcent directly.
No wonder she went on to change her clothes and disguise herself as soone else.
It wasn’t for a discreet operation mode, but rather, it was for her to cause mayhem while assuming an alias.
"So do you still want to swap roles?" Carn asked with a sly grin.
"Forget it," Veronica rolled her eyes. She wasn’t crazy like Carn to commit such an act. In fact, she was certain that she would be detained in less than 5 seconds by the law enforcent.
"See, it’s not that I’m tricking you, but that you are not at that level yet."
"CARN!"
Alas, Carn had already activated a Void Portal and slipped away long before Veronica could snap at her.
