Xu Feng wasn’t trying to be a hero or anything, but as long as the people of Bardmon City survived, there would still be hope.
Lands were dead, but people were alive—that included the NPCs.
"What nonsense are you saying?" Kong Ming scolded lightly, his eyes still locked on Karoos. "If I don’t e here and help you, those citizens will still be caught."
What he meant was that he alone would have struggled to save anyone if Karoos really went on a blood hunt.
However, if he could assist Xu Feng and stall enough for him to recover, then the battle would bee 2v1.
It wasn’t going to be easy, but at the very least, they could still pose quite a threat to Karoos.
"I can’t..." Xu Feng shook his head weakly.
"The corruption seeped too much inside me. I cannot recover an ounce of mana."
If possible, he would have long consumed some of the superior mana recovery potions concocted by Jeanette.
Unfortunately, Jeanette had yet to achieve her fearsome Inventor position from the past timeline, in which her potions could even bypass the Demonic Suppression.
Meanwhile, Kong Ming frowned deeply upon noticing Xu Feng was shrouded in dark energy.
It had to take him a while to actually sense Xu Feng was in a much more terrible condition than he could have imagined.
But then again, it was precisely because of his condition and his still being concerned about the evacuation that made Kong Ming deeply admire the former.
Kong Ming knew his judgment wasn’t off regarding his character.
"Try to dispel the Demonic Suppression with this." Kong Ming retrieved an item and tossed it to Xu Feng.
Xu Feng glanced at the item and was dumbfounded. ’A fan?’

That was until he noticed there was an arrow key in the right corner of the prompt. He struggled a bit to press it and opened further details.

’No wonder it’s Epic rank. That makes sense now.’ Xu Feng wasn’t disappointed that Kong Ming didn’t give him the fan he was currently holding.
After all, he was now confronting Karoos, and to fight the latter without his fan was suicidal.
The reason he even mentioned the corruption was to warn Kong Ming to be wary and careful of Karoos’ attacks.
As for Karoos, this simpleton and arrogant prick, he doubted the former would know the intention behind his words.
And sure enough, Karoos was too prideful to even eavesdrop on the conversation as he began fighting Kong Ming.

While the two began fighting, causing destruction around the defense border from their powerful residual, Xu Feng wasted no time using the fan.

’Fan myself? I can barely even move a limb.’ He smiled bitterly. Even when holding the fan, the strength was very weak. A small gust of wind could easily knock the fan away from his hand.
From top to bottom, he was dyed crimson from his own blood. Now, one might say this wasn’t his real body, but the pain sensation was real.
If it wasn’t real, there wouldn’t have been any system prompt to begin with that advised him to forcefully log off.
He tried to grip the fan, but his shattered bones in the joint caused him to feel pain.
"I’ve been worse." He murmured and gripped it tightly, choosing to ignore his body’s refusal.
A few seconds later, he began fanning himself with much difficulty.

Was he in any condition to be fanning himself consistently?
While Xu Feng struggled to fan himself to cleanse the corruption and Kong Ming was busy fighting Karoos, the demon elite, Cedric managed to escape on a path that showed the retreating civilians.
"Hoh, so that’s why the bastard was stalling us..." Cerdic’s eyes narrowed in a cold light. He could tell at a glance that many of them were weak and fragile humans.
With the exception of a few soldiers and Immortals, none of them could hold a candle in front of him.
"Cough!"
As he got excited, the injuries he sustained from Kong Ming became aggravated, forcing him to cough up a mouthful of blood. He clutched his chest tightly, and the fury in his emotions increased exponentially.
"Since you bastards want to protect them, I’ll gladly end them for you. I can also use this as redemption in front of Karoos." Cedric knew he was going to be reprimanded coldly when Kong Ming had disturbed the Demon Lord’s playtime.
However, if he massacred these people and revealed to Karoos their significance to those ants, he might be spared.
At the end of the day, he was an elite who had to treat Karoos like their ancestors. That was how the demons operated and ensured there wouldn’t be any dilution to the bloodline.
Without hesitation, Cedricv summoned a horde of hounds and manded them to attack the evacuation group.
He didn’t even bother to plan anything because these people were a bunch of weaklings in his eyes.
"KILL THEM ALL!"
Cedric grinned menacingly. He felt revitalized when he imagined the faces that Kong Ming and the bastard healer would make once they realized their stalling had resulted in nothing.
