Sorry for the lack of uploads to start off 2026. I haven't just disappeared! I just got the edited version of Book 1, so I'm finally doing my final pass of the KU version, and uh, I miscalculated!
Listen. I have vague recollections of editing a book in 3 days way back in the day. But that was shorter, I did a worse job there, I was just a much worse writer in so many ways! I didn't know what the fuck I was doing. There were so many mistakes left, and I never realized as I went ahead and printed it and passed it around!
I was young, okay!? A kid! Everyone's cringe at so point. I bet you were worse!
Anyway, that’s what’s been taking so long. This really has to be the final definitive version, so I’m doing it as best I can. Not gonna lie, my original plan was to just get the edits, and then it’s ready, but now I’ve ended up doing a real deep edit of my original manuscript, before then comparing it with the edits, and taking only the parts I like/still missed. Which are still very helpful, of course! But it took a while until I realized and accepted that’s what I needed to do, leading to doing so outright insane shit like comparing each paragraph line by line, and if they’re not an exact match then manually looking for that one comma out of place, before then deciding on which one I’m keeping.
That is… that is not standard procedure. I’m an idiot. It took a while to realize there were programs for comparing two similar texts. And longer still for to stop only feeding it one sentences, and fucking realize that I can compare the two whole docunts side by side and have it highlight all the differences.
And this is on top of the aningful changes that I’m making now that I’m doing a deep edit. And of course, getting stunlocked over one punctuation at a ti. Yes, this one fucking comma will make or break the story, so I better ponder it like it’s the key to the universe!
I don’t even write like that normally. Why am I like this now?
Well, because I do usually run by instinct. Half so, even with editing. But now I actually gotta think about the grammar, and then where I can break it.
But don’t worry! I'm closing in on finishing this. (Chapter 50/72 now) Just so more days, I want it to be out too! It sucks that I wasn’t able to make it last year. Alas.
Lessons were learned, and I will not make the sa mistakes next ti. Self-pub, am I right? Now I’m committed to doing it for all 5 books of this book! Hooray…
But after all this, I can finally get back to actually moving forward with the story. So stay-tuned for that! Where the public release is now... should have sothing I'm excited about coming up soon!
