Xue Yang sat in the president’s seat of the student council, watching a middle-aged man of about fifty step onto the stage. A tall, beautiful hostess in a light and airy long dress held a tray bearing twenty red letters of appointnt. The presenter checked the nas on the letters before guiding Lin Zhenhai to distribute them to the corresponding recipients.
So, that man was the chairman of Lin Corporation—Lin Zhenhai.
He wasn’t quite what I had imagined. He looks like a rather amiable middle-aged man.
However, an aura lingered around him that inexplicably made people feel the need to respect him from a distance. But that was to be expected. People in high positions, no matter how approachable, naturally exert an invisible pressure.
The stage was the center of excitent, while the audience below buzzed with energy. Those people would beco the pillars of Lin Corporation.
Maybe in the future, once everyone graduates and enters the workforce, I might even cross paths with so of them professionally. It’s ti to start networking.

"Hello, Chairman Lin."
Although he didn’t know why the chairman wanted to see him privately, Xue Yang wasn’t particularly nervous. He treated it as a normal eting.
But is it just my imagination, or does Chairman Lin seem familiar? I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Xue Yang was sowhat taken aback by the honor.
I gave up the opportunity to join Lin Corporation and assud Chairman Lin would ask why. Instead, he just said we could cooperate in the future and handed his business card.
Xue Yang accepted the card with both hands and said sincerely, "Thank you, Chairman Lin."
"That’s a nice watch you have there," Lin Zhenhai remarked suddenly.
Xue Yang lifted his wrist, a tender look on his face. "Thank you for the complint. My girlfriend gave it to ."
"To give you this watch, your relationship must be very good?"
"We’re very much in love! It’s just that we’re currently apart for certain reasons. She said that as long as I see this watch, it ans we’re in the sa ti and space, thinking of each other."

Lin Zhenhai simply nodded and said no more.
After distributing the letters of appointnt and briefly eting with Xue Yang, Lin Zhenhai left Yanbei. Of course, though he had departed, the funding he had promised to Yanbei University was not short by a single cent. As was customary, the funds would be transferred to Yanbei University’s public account three days after the recruitnt event to cover routine maintenance, expansion projects, scholarships, and other expenses. When Xue Yang returned to the president’s seat, Cui Hao eagerly asked him, "Xue Yang, what did Chairman Lin want to see you about?"
"He gave a business card."

It really was a very ordinary-looking business card. If it weren’t for the na "Lin Zhenhai" followed by the title "Chairman of Lin Corporation," one might have thought it was a fake made by so scam artist.
"Xue Yang, you’re incredible!" Cui Hao couldn’t help but give him a thumbs-up. Having a card like this ans we have another ace up our sleeve. If our ga ever cos to fruition and we get support from Lin Corporation, it would be a ga-changer. But that wasn’t even the most important part. The most important thing was that Xue Yang had given up the chance to join Lin Corporation, and Chairman Lin hadn’t even gotten angry!
"Spill. Do you two have so kind of shady connection? Why else would he be so good to you?"
Xue Yang shot Cui Hao a disdainful look and ignored his ridiculous question.
Still, Cui Hao thinks Chairman Lin was being good to ?

On January 11th, Harlow International Language School held its once-a-sester final exams. This was Lin Xi’s first exam since starting her senior year, and it was one of her most important. It would determine whether she had what it took to fulfill the agreent she’d made with her father. If she could take first place, she would have the leverage to negotiate with him.
Receiving her paper, Lin Xi quietly began filling in the answers. She worked with intense focus, reviewing any questions she was uncertain about at least three tis.
After the exam, Si Wen ca to her desk. "Lin Xi, how did it go? Are you confident?"
"Of course!" Lin Xi replied with certainty.
"That’s good to hear!" Si Wen was still curious. But can Lin Xi really outperform ?
"Want to make a bet?" Si Wen suggested.
"On what?"
"If you get first place, I’ll find a way for you to see Xue Yang during the break. If you don’t get first place..."
Lin Xi cut her off. "There is no ’if.’ First place is mine this ti. You can start thinking about how you’re going to arrange for to see Xue Yang."
Si Wen was speechless. This conversation is going nowhere.
But she stated the other side of the bet anyway. "If you don’t get first place, then during the break, you have to post extra updates for ’My Precious Boy’—at least ten thousand words a day."
Lin Xi shot her a look that clearly said extra updates were impossible.
Unless... I could spend every day with Xue Yang, the two of us writing together like before. We could even review the plot occasionally—or, better yet, act it out first before writing about it. That would feel amazing.
Everyone else was also intensely curious about whether Lin Xi could really take first place, especially since she had declared her intention to get into Yanbei University right after returning to school. If her final exam scores still landed her in last place, she would be eating her own words.
"That’s unlikely, right? Lin Xi missed a whole sester of classes!"
