"Co on, just take a look."

In the past, when she had sleepovers at Lin Xi’s house, the two of them would discuss cute clothes or bags and share their skincare products. Sotis, they would even curl up in Lin Xi’s ho theater to watch movies.

This made her very curious. What do a guy and a girl even do when they’re alone in a room? Do they huddle together and watch movies, just like we do? If Xue Yang and Lin Xi were going to watch a movie, what kind would it be? I could take notes and then watch it with my boyfriend when I get one.

"Are you sure you want to know?" Xue Yang asked.

"Yes."

The next second, Si Wen regretted it.

The two of them actually started kissing right in front of her.

They probably kissed for about five minutes before Xue Yang stopped and asked, "Do you want to keep watching?"

Having gotten his goodnight kiss back, Xue Yang was in a pretty good mood and didn’t mind continuing if Si Wen insisted. Lin Xi, lying on his arm under the covers, looked at him with watery eyes, as if to say she wanted more.

Si Wen buried her head under the blanket and mumbled, "Have so decency!"

"We’re just granting your request. How is that indecent?"

"I thought you’d say sothing like you were watching a movie under the covers, who knew you’d actually be..." Kissing. Speaking of which... what does kissing feel like? Ugh, what on earth am I thinking?

Si Wen felt her face burning up. Thank goodness the lights are off. Otherwise, they’d definitely see how red my face is.

"Are you sure you want to watch a movie with us?"

After what had just happened, Si Wen had a feeling that whatever movie they planned to watch wasn’t going to be a normal one.

"We’re sleeping!" ca Si Wen’s frustrated voice from under the blanket.

A few minutes later, she felt Lin Xi slip out from under her blanket and crawl into another, leaving her all alone.

Hmph, ditching her friend for a boy.

Half an hour later, Lin Xi and Xue Yang were snuggled up and sleeping soundly, while Si Wen lay with her eyes wide open, staring at the ceiling. It wasn’t until the middle of the night that she finally fell asleep.

「The next day, Xue Yang woke up early.」

The thought of buying a car excited him. After all, it would be his first car, and he was only eighteen, not even nineteen yet.

Who could have imagined that just over three months ago, he was a confused youth with no idea what his future held? Three months later, he could afford a car.

Life is truly unpredictable, one surprise wrapped in another.

In Yancheng, it was quite normal for soone as young as Xue Yang to buy a car, as most locals were wealthy. In other places, however, soone his age would typically still be asking their parents for money. This was especially true for those from families like Xue Yang’s, where many would graduate from university and still have no idea what to do.

Buy a car? They were lucky if they didn’t have to ask their parents for money.

As he was about to wash up, his phone rang. He saw it was his mother calling and answered.

"Mom."

From the other end of the line, a woman’s voice bood like a trumpet. "Xiao Yang, you’ve been on break for a week now. When are you coming ho?"

Her voice was so loud it felt like she wanted everyone in the vicinity to hear. Xue Yang stepped out onto the living room balcony and slid the door shut to avoid waking the two sleeping beauties.

"Mom, I’ve still got so things to take care of here. I bought my ticket for the seventh of next month."

"That late, huh?"

February 7th was the twenty-eighth day of the last lunar month, which was indeed quite late to be coming ho for the New Year.

"Mom, is sothing wrong?"

"Nothing serious. It’s just that your Third Uncle’s son, Xiao Shan, is taking the college entrance exams next year, right? Your Third Uncle was thinking that since you got into Yancheng University of the North, you could tutor him when you ca back for winter break. But if you’re busy, just focus on your things. I’ll turn him down for you."

"Thanks, Mom."

Tutoring a relative’s child wasn’t really Xue Yang’s cup of tea, mainly because his cousin simply wasn’t suited for academics. No amount of tutoring was going to make a difference. If he helped and his cousin didn’t pass the exam next year, they’d probably turn around and bla it on his poor teaching.

Right, it’s *my* teaching that’s bad, not that their child lacks the intellect.

Plus, this sort of thing was always done for free. Charging would only strain the relationship between the two families. Answering a difficult question or two was no problem, but based on their attitude, it seed like they wanted to occupy his entire winter break. Xue Yang certainly didn’t have that much ti to tutor them.

So when he heard Mrs. Zhong say she would turn it down for him, his first reaction was a sigh of relief.

"I had your dad deposit 3,000 yuan into your account for living expenses. You’ll need money for social events and other things at the end of the year. If it’s not enough, let know, and I’ll have your dad send you more."

Since he’d started earning his own money, Xue Yang hadn’t touched the allowance card from his parents and had completely forgotten about it until Mrs. Zhong brought it up.

"Mom, you don’t need to send living expenses anymore. I can earn my own money now."

"You’re still in school, how much can you possibly earn? Your dad and I don’t spend much at ho, so you don’t need to be frugal. Spend what you need to."

Like most parents, Xue Yang’s didn’t believe he could make real money while studying.

"Mom, don’t you trust your son? When I start making real money, I’ll let you and Dad relax at ho and buy whatever you want."

"Alright, alright! Lao Xue, did you hear that? Our son said that once he makes money, he’ll let us old folks enjoy life at ho. Quick, go transfer another 2,000 yuan to Xiao Yang."

Xue Yang was speechless.

That wasn’t what I ant at all.

But it seed like arguing was pointless, so he stopped insisting. Anyway, I’ll just save the money they send for now and pay them back later.

His parents had a point, he supposed. For most college students, the best they could do was find a part-ti job, which wouldn’t bring in much money—just a little extra pocket money at best.

After he hung up, Lin Xi got up. Bleary-eyed, she looked around the apartnt and finally spotted Xue Yang on the balcony.

Xue Yang put his phone away, slid the balcony door open, and ca inside. "Xiao Xi, you’re awake?"

Lin Xi sat on the sofa and nodded. "Xue Yang, what kind of car are you planning to buy?"

"With the money I have on hand, a Suzuki Alto should be about right. I can’t afford a luxury car just yet, but once I make more money, we’ll buy one."

Lin Xi didn’t really mind what car they got. She nodded. "Okay, I’ll leave it up to you."

"Why buy an Alto? Listen to , buy an Audi!" Si Wen had also woken up. Leaning against the doorfra with her eyes barely open, she protested.

"An Audi is out of reach for now. I’ll upgrade once I’ve made more money."

At the mont, he only had about one hundred thousand yuan from his writing fees and the modeling work he did for Trendy Apparel, and he still needed to cover their living costs. Buying an Audi wasn’t impossible; he could take out a loan. But that would an they’d have to tighten their belts on future living expenses. He didn’t mind for himself, but he didn’t want Lin Xi to suffer with him.
