Su Jianqiang sat sprawled in a chair in the reception room, leisurely pouring himself a cup of tea. "Who did you say was here?"
He wasn’t supposed to co in today, but he was bored to tears at ho and couldn’t stand his wife’s nagging. He much preferred sneaking into the office to enjoy so peace and quiet. Besides, since he was injured, he had already delegated all his work. He was basically getting paid to lie around and do nothing.
While he usually slacked off at the office, it was never this blatant. Now, even if his older brother showed up, he’d have no reason to scold him. What a dedicated employee I am, right? Dragging myself to work even when I’m injured this badly.
The receptionist was speechless. "Manager Su, it’s that Sun Yufei from yesterday." The one who beat you senseless, she added ntally.
The receptionist couldn’t help but smirk every ti she rembered Su Jianqiang getting beaten up. She had been harassed by him multiple tis since starting at the company. The harassnt had only mostly stopped after she reported him to President Su. Su Jianqiang didn’t dare to be blatant anymore, but he still made plenty of sly moves in secret. It had been a constant source of anxiety for her, but now, finally, there was soone who could put him in his place.
Su Jianqiang took a sip of tea and asked, "Which Yufei?"
"Sun Yufei."
"Sun who?"
"Sun Yufei!"
The na finally registered. He shot up from his seat as if his butt had suddenly sprouted boils, a movent that pulled at his injuries and made him grimace in pain.
"Sun Yufei?!"
The receptionist nodded earnestly. "Sun Yufei."
That’s right, the very Sun Yufei you’re thinking of.
"Quick, quick, call Zhou Wei over! Don’t let her see !"
Sun Yufei had warned him yesterday that she would beat him every single ti she saw him. He didn’t want another beating; it hurt way too much.
Su Jianqiang was about to bolt for the door but was stopped by the receptionist.
"Manager Su, it’s too late. Sun Yufei is almost at the reception room. If you go out now, you’ll run right into her."
"Then-then-then-then what do I do?"
"President Su, why don’t you hide for a bit?" the receptionist suggested kindly.
"Where am I supposed to hide?"
The receptionist pointed under the conference table, signaling for him to get in there.
"I’m the boss’s brother, for crying out loud, and you want to hide under a table?"
"President Su, if you don’t hide now, it’ll be too late. Of course, if you think you can win a fight against Sun Yufei, you don’t have to hide."
Su Jianqiang decisively hid under the table.
Fight Sun Yufei? What a joke. Not only could he not beat her, but even if he could, he was under strict orders not to. In fact, if she felt unhappy and decided she wanted to beat him up, he wasn’t even allowed to resist.
What? Why?
Because his brother, Su Guoqiang, had told him that he had caused the factory to lose a massive opportunity and that he had to atone for his mistake. As for what that massive opportunity was, his brother never said. Su Jianqiang couldn’t figure it out either. After all, she was just a university student. Even if she was from Yanbei, he knew that the children of truly elite families wouldn’t be out searching for processing plants like this. A single phone call would have taken care of everything. Or perhaps, they simply looked down on such thankless work.
Just as Su Jianqiang had gotten himself situated under the table, Sun Yufei arrived.
He held his breath, praying she would leave quickly.
What he didn’t know, however, was that the receptionist, eager for a little payback, had quietly told Sun Yufei that he was hiding under the table. Sun Yufei imdiately understood, giving the receptionist a discreet "OK" sign.
There’s a lesson here for n: if you can’t navigate your relationships with won gracefully, it’s best not to offend them at all. There’s a reason for the ancient saying: It’s better to offend a villain than a woman.
Normally, clients who ca to inspect samples were taken to the workshop office. Today, however, Sun Yufei sat right where Su Jianqiang had been monts before and announced in a loud voice, "Could you please bring the finished samples here? I can just look at them right here."
No! Don’t agree to that! Absolutely do not agree!
The receptionist appeared to hesitate for a mont. In reality, the two won were deliberately speaking in loud, emphatic tones for the sole purpose of tornting Su Jianqiang.
"Alright, Miss Sun. Please wait here for a mont while I go speak with our sales staff."
"Thank you!"
Su Jianqiang’s eyes bulged, and he bit his lip so hard he was afraid he would accidentally make a sound and give himself away.
By the ti Sun Yufei finally left, two hours had passed. Su Jianqiang’s body, on the other hand, had gone stiff as a board.
"Luo Xinyi, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?"
Luo Xinyi put on an aggrieved expression. "Manager Su, how could I dare?"
"You wouldn’t dare? You just did it!"
"Manager Su, that was the client’s request. I couldn’t very well refuse, could I?"
"Couldn’t you have used your brain and found a way to take her sowhere else?"
"Manager Su, if I could think like that, I wouldn’t be just a receptionist."
Su Jianqiang paused. That actually made so sense.
"Useless. No wonder you’re just a receptionist. Now hurry up and massage my legs; they’ve gone numb."
"Oh."
Luo Xinyi pressed down hard, making Su Jianqiang shriek in pain. "HISS! OW! Don’t touch !"
"Manager Su, didn’t you ask to massage them for you?"
"I don’t need it anymore! Just get out!"
Luo Xinyi said, "Oh," and walked out of the reception room.
She suddenly felt that working here was pointless. That feeling reached its peak when she heard Su Jianqiang say she was only fit to be a receptionist.
Am I really only fit to be a receptionist?
Luo Xinyi was not bad-looking. Although she was no match for Sun Yufei, on her own, she was a demure beauty who would certainly turn heads on the street.
Maybe it really was ti for a new job.
「The next day.」
When Sun Yufei ca by, she happened to see Luo Xinyi packing her things.
For so companies, the receptionist position was optional. So, when Luo Xinyi said she wanted to resign, her supervisor approved it imdiately. It was no big deal; they could just find soone else.
"Xinyi, you’re resigning?"
"Yufei, you’re here. Yes, I’ve already resigned. I’m just sorting out my work to hand over to HR, and then I can leave."
Sun Yufei had never worked in an office, so she wasn’t familiar with the procedures.
"Why are you quitting when everything seed fine? Did Su Jianqiang bully you?"
The two had beco fast friends yesterday, and Luo Xinyi had told her all about Su Jianqiang’s usual behavior at the company. Because of this, Sun Yufei’s first thought was that he was the reason for her resignation.
"No, I decided to resign on my own. The world is a big place, and I’m only twenty-three. I ought to see more of it so I can find out where I truly belong."
"That’s true. It’s just a pity I won’t get to see you when I co here anymore," Sun Yufei said with regret.
