Xue Yang calmly looked away and selected a few photos. "This one, this one, and this one. We can send these to Trendy Apparel."
Only then did Lin Xi rember they needed to leave a review for the clothes they had received for free. "I almost forgot! We need to give them feedback and upload the photos."
She picked up Xue Yang’s phone, opened the Trendy Apparel shop on Taobao, and enthusiastically typed out a glowing review.
"The shell jacket is very warm. I was outside on a snowy day and didn’t feel cold at all. It’s very durable and definitely worth buying.
"The lambswool jacket is so gorgeous and finely made. The texture is soft, the fit is top-notch, and most importantly, it doesn’t shed. Picture attached—who’s more beautiful, the snowflakes or us?"
Lin Xi uploaded the photos Xue Yang had selected along with her comnts.
Before long, a ssage from Trendy Apparel’s custor service arrived on Xue Yang’s phone.
"Thank you for your review and photos; you and your girlfriend really do make a great pair. Our boss has a small request, though. Would your girlfriend be willing to take off her mask and take a set of photos with you for our promotion? We will pay you accordingly, and in the future, Trendy Apparel will cover all your clothing needs."
Xue Yang typed back, "I’m afraid that’s not possible. She’s quite private and prefers not to show her face."
"That’s a real pity," the custor service representative replied. "Can we use these photos for our promotion?"
"That’s fine," Xue Yang confird.
"If you have other photos, you can also send them to us, and we will pay you the market rate."
Xue Yang discussed it with Lin Xi. After getting her consent, he chose a few more photos, touched them up a little, and sent them to Trendy Apparel.
"Thank you so much! You two really are an excellent match. We wish you both happiness!" The ssage ended with a rose emoji.
That day alone, they had received several wishes for their happiness.
Lin Xi’s reaction wasn’t as intense as it had been at first. Although her cheeks were still a blushing pink, her heart was filled with the hope that these blessings would co true.
Trendy Apparel was always efficient. About an hour after Xue Yang sent the photos, the paynt ca through.
He glanced at the notification. He had sent twenty photos, and Trendy Apparel had paid them a total of 6,000 yuan. That ant each photo was worth 300 yuan, which ca as a surprise to Xue Yang.
"Doesn’t this an we went out to play for a day, got four sets of clothes for free, and still made 6,000 yuan? Xue Yang, we’re rich!"
This ant so much more than the 10,000 yuan they had won from the lottery. Although this sum of money wasn’t much to her, it was their first official, shared inco.
Xue Yang picked up the shell jacket and said to Lin Xi, "Get changed. We’re going downstairs."
"Where are we going?"
Xue Yang held up his phone. "Haven’t you always wanted a phone? We have the money now, so we can buy one."
"Hooray for Xue Yang!"
Without a second thought, Lin Xi quickly changed back into her shell jacket and bounced down the stairs with Xue Yang.
Outside, the snow had stopped and the sky was gradually darkening. The streetlights began to flicker on. The first wave of people who had been playing in the snow had grown tired and already gone ho.
Due to the accumulated snow, there were fewer cars on the road. Xue Yang and Lin Xi huddled together as they walked to the phone store.
The owner of the phone store was taken aback when the two young people walked in. Anyone out shopping on a snowy evening like this must be truly in love.
"Hello, welco!"
"Sir, do you have the Mi 4?"
The Mi 4 was a new phone that had been released in July. Xiaomi phones were incredibly popular that year and were all sold through online flash sales, so you could only get one if you were quick enough.
The owner, a burly man in his early thirties with a guileless smile, heard Xue Yang and imdiately replied, "You’ve co at just the right ti. We managed to snag a few this week. We’ve sold all but one, so if you had co any later, this one would be gone too."
He took a phone out of the display case. "The Mi 4 starts at 1,999 yuan on the official website. We sell it in-store for 2,300 yuan. It’s a fair price."
An extra 300 yuan wasn’t too expensive.
Xue Yang had gotten his own phone during the sumr vacation by snagging one online. He’d had to rally several classmates at an internet cafe to help him grab it during a flash sale.
Hearing there was a markup, Lin Xi was suddenly reluctant. "Xue Yang, couldn’t we just try to get one in an online sale ourselves?"
To her forr self, 300 yuan wasn’t even a rounding error in her allowance. But now that Xue Yang had earned this money through his own efforts, she felt they should try to save it.
"You have to get an appointnt and then compete in the sale, and it’s not even guaranteed you’ll get one," Xue Yang said gently. "You need a phone now, so an extra 300 yuan isn’t a big deal."
He smiled at the shop owner. "Sir, we’ll take the phone."
"Alright then! I’ll pack it up for you."
"No need to box it up. We’ll take the phone with us."
The beaming owner packed up the phone’s accessories and put them in a bag for Xue Yang.
After Xue Yang paid, the two of them walked out of the phone store. By then, the sky was completely dark.
Xue Yang decided to take Lin Xi for a steaming hot pot al before they headed ho.
The mont they got back, Lin Xi wanted to upload all the photos from the past few days to her new phone.
"It’s not that complicated," Xue Yang suggested. "Just sign in with my account, and everything will sync over automatically."
"Xue Yang, you’re a genius."
"..."
Lin Xi chose a picture of them watching the snow together as her wallpaper, then flipped through all the photos again and again.
At first, she had no photos of Xue Yang, but later on, he was in almost every single one. Each picture captured a different side of him. He was very photogenic, but he was far more handso in person than he was in pictures. She could look at them forever and never get tired.
The aftermath of playing in the snow ca the very next day: Lin Xi had gloriously co down with a cold.
Xue Yang only realized it when he rolled over in his sleep and casually placed a hand on her slender waist, feeling how hot she was.
He practically shot up from the bed. Touching Lin Xi’s forehead, he asked, "Lin Xi, how are you feeling?"
The fever left Lin Xi completely muddled. When Xue Yang spoke to her, she just mumbled sothing unintelligible and fell back asleep.
He checked the ti; it was almost ti for class. With Lin Xi running a fever, how could he possibly leave her to go to school?
He imdiately took out his phone and saw that Cui Hao had sent him quite a few ssages the day before, all asking where his rental apartnt was and if he had moved.
Xue Yang ignored them for the mont and quickly typed a ssage to Cui Hao, "Cover for in roll call."
Cui Hao had just woken up to find the ssage from Xue Yang. At first, he thought it was a reply to his own ssages, but it was just a request to cover for him in roll call. What infuriated him the most was that Xue Yang didn’t even bother giving a reason.
"Damn you, Xue Yang! I’ve been looking for you for so long, waiting for you to ssage back, and this is all you send ? I don’t give a damn if you show up or not—I’m not covering for you!"
