However, the villa had just been purchased. Aside from being habitable, it lacked many common necessities. It was simply impossible to live there yet.

"Speaking of which, are you two going to have a housewarming party? If you are, I can help you co up with ideas," Si Wen said. This was her favorite kind of thing. She felt they could have a dance party and an outdoor buffet. They could even hire the best culinary team from Yancheng.

That would feel absolutely amazing.

"Keeping it simple is fine. There’s no need for a big fuss."

"Alright then, you’re the hosts. What you say goes."

Si Wen held the cat, sat on the sofa, and stroked it contentedly. She had been watching this cat for a while and had even fed it a few tis. As a result, it was exceptionally comfortable in her arms. It didn’t seem bothered by the unfamiliar environnt at all. It was so well-behaved that Si Wen couldn’t bear to let it go.

Lin Xi and Xue Yang took a walk around the property, then sat in the villa for a while. Eventually, the three of them returned to their apartnt in the Tongfang Residential District.

The villa was just too big. Without a dedicated cleaner, it wouldn’t be convenient to live in—the cleaning alone would be too ti-consuming. They could hire help, but there wasn’t anyone suitable at the mont. Hiring the wrong person would be like bringing a ticking ti bomb into their ho, a risk they definitely weren’t willing to take.

"I have my final exams next week, so I need to study. You two have fun."

"You go ahead."

Lin Xi and Si Wen continued to play with the cat, while Xue Yang went to his room to study.

I have to say, the feeling of not having to solve problems after the college entrance exams is amazing. You can just have fun to your heart’s content.

"Xiao Xi, what do you think we should na it?"

Lin Xi observed the kitten, her eyes sparkling. "It’s white and has blue eyes. Let’s call it... Xiao Tong."

"Uh... Xiao Tong?"

"You don’t like it?"

"We might as well call it Xiao Bai."

"Then let’s call it Xiao Bai."

Si Wen was speechless.

That night, Si Wen didn’t go ho, staying in their guest room instead.

The three of them didn’t go anywhere over the weekend, just staying in the Tongfang Residential District. Si Wen was in charge of petting the cat, Lin Xi wrote, and Xue Yang split his ti between studying and handling work. When it was ti for als, the three of them would cook together.

Ti flew by.

On Sunday evening, Si Wen took the kitten ho with her.

Xue Yang and Lin Xi finally had the apartnt to themselves again.

"If you like cats, we could get another one," Xue Yang said, seeing that Lin Xi had also grown quite fond of the kitten.

"There’s no need. Si Wen will definitely bring the cat back tomorrow. I know Auntie Song—she really dislikes cats."

...

Unusually, Xue Yang didn’t go to the studio on Monday and instead attended his classes as usual. His classmates weren’t the only ones surprised; even Gong Li found it strange. Then she rembered that final exams were just a couple of days away, and it suddenly seed normal after all. No matter how much Xue Yang had achieved, as long as he was a student, failing his finals ant he would have to take them again. Without enough credits, he still wouldn’t be able to graduate.

Cui Hao sneaked in through the back door after class had started. Gong Li saw him but decided to turn a blind eye.

"Dude, you live off-campus and you’re still this punctual? Are you even human?" Cui Hao grumbled as he sat down beside Xue Yang. It was finally the weekend, so naturally, he’d spent the entire night playing video gas.

"Library after class," Xue Yang whispered.

"Are you joking?"

"Do I look like I’m joking?"

"Just promise you won’t pass the finals, alright?"

"Yeah, I promise."

"For real?"

Xue Yang didn’t respond, instead turning his attention to the lecture. Seeing Xue Yang looking so serious, Cui Hao also prepared to focus. However, he didn’t last two minutes before his head started bobbing like a pecking chick, and he soon slumped onto the desk, fast asleep.

Paying attention in class? Not happening. As for passing or failing... I’ll worry about that later.

When class was over, Xue Yang thoughtfully woke Cui Hao up.

"Rise and shine."

"Be quiet, let sleep a little longer," Cui Hao muttered.

Xue Yang didn’t bother him further and went to the library by himself.

By the ti Cui Hao woke up, not only was Xue Yang gone, but all the other students had vanished as well.

"You didn’t even wake up!"

Furious, Cui Hao stord off to the library to find Xue Yang, only to discover him also preparing to take a nap. His anger instantly subsided.

"So you just ca here for a change of scenery to sleep. Fine, I’ll let you off the hook this ti."

Cui Hao rubbed his eyes and decided to go back to the dorm for a proper sleep.

Not long after Cui Hao left, Xue Yang woke up. He had a strict internal clock; normally, a power nap of just a few minutes was enough to leave him feeling fully refreshed. After waking up, he resud his studying.

Failing? Not a chance.

...

Lin Xi’s guess was correct. The next day, Si Wen did indeed call her.

"Xiao Xi, my mom didn’t agree to let keep a cat at ho."

"What about Xiao Bai?"

"I brought him to the office with . I’ll bring him over to your place tonight. Please help look after him."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Lin Xi got out of bed, freshened up, had breakfast, and then settled in to write. Xue Yang had said he would eat at school for lunch and told her not to bring him food, so she could focus completely on writing today.

Two hours later, she had finished her update for the day.

A familiar QQ icon lit up. Lin Xi clicked on it and saw a ssage from her editor.

"Dear, congratulations on getting into your dream university," the ssage read.

Lin Xi quickly replied, "Thank you so much, Editor!"

"Dear," the editor continued, "your novel is selling very well on our website and other platforms. The company has decided to adapt it into a comic and wanted to get your thoughts on the matter."

Lin Xi’s eyes lit up. "Adapted into a comic! Really?"

"It’s true," the editor confird. "Since you’re also in Yancheng, if you’re agreeable, we could schedule a ti for you to co to the company to discuss the specifics."

"I wrote this novel with my boyfriend," Lin Xi typed. "Can I discuss it with him first?"

"Of course! I’ll wait for your reply."

After the chat with her editor ended, Lin Xi’s heart began to race. She’d never imagined that the novel she had started writing simply to improve her circumstances would beco such a hit. Now, the company even wanted to adapt it into a comic.

Having a novel adapted was sothing every author dread of. After all, it was a huge validation of her work and a way for it to reach an even wider audience.

Lin Xi imdiately sent Xue Yang a ssage to tell him the news.

Xue Yang was also surprised when he received Lin Xi’s ssage.

Xiao Naimao really does have a talent for writing novels. Even though the outline was mine, if I had written it myself, it never would have beco this popular. It probably would have been dead on arrival.

"I’ll go with you after my exams are over," he replied.

"Okay."

Lin Xi imdiately told the editor that Xue Yang had agreed and they scheduled a eting. Then, she shared the good news with Si Wen.

"A comic? Really?"

Her reaction was the sa as Lin Xi’s had been when she first heard the news.
