Xue Yang rarely had dreams. He was a sound sleeper; as long as no one disturbed him, he could sleep all day. But tonight, he dread.
In his dream, he was plumting from a great height into an unknown abyss. The sensation of weightlessness made him instinctively grasp for sothing nearby. It wasn’t until he slled a familiar, clean fragrance that his restless heart was instantly soothed, and he gradually relaxed.
Xue Yang fell back asleep, but Lin Xi had been awakened by his movents. She grabbed her phone and glanced at the screen. It was 11:13 AM. She hurriedly nudged the still-sleeping Xue Yang.
"Xue Yang, Xue Yang, get up! You have to wake up."
"What ti is it?"
"It’s past eleven!"
Xue Yang turned over and mumbled, "Let sleep for five more minutes."
"No way. We agreed to go skiing today, and we can’t be late. Get up."
Lin Xi desperately tried to pull Xue Yang up, but he pulled her down instead, causing her to tumble into his embrace.
"Shh, be good. Just let sleep for five more minutes."
Hearing this, Lin Xi stopped struggling and obediently stayed in his arms, acting as his personal pillow.
Lin Xi had noticed that Xue Yang loved to sleep in on weekends. He would bargain for every extra minute, even if it was just one or two.
After exactly five minutes, Xue Yang woke up on ti. Lin Xi wondered if he had a built-in tir.
"Back in high school, I trained myself to only sleep for an extra five minutes to keep from oversleeping and wasting ti," he explained. With that, Xue Yang rolled out of bed and went to freshen up.
Watching his retreating figure, a pang of heartache flashed in Lin Xi’s eyes.
Just then, Xue Yang’s phone buzzed. Lin Xi glanced at it but didn’t open the ssage, simply calling out, "Xue Yang, your phone buzzed."
"Mhm."
Xue Yang ca out of the bathroom and unlocked his phone. It was a ssage from Chen Ying.
"Xue Yang, thank you for helping out last night. To show my gratitude, I’d like to invite you to go skiing with today."
He looked up at Lin Xi, who was bustling around the room getting ready for their ski trip, then lowered his head and quickly typed a reply:
"Senior Sister Chen, I have plans today, so I won’t be able to make it. I hope you have fun. And don’t worry about last night. We’re both from Hui City, so it’s only right that we look out for each other when we’re away from ho."
He hit send and put his phone down.

"If you’re not going, what’s the point of going?" Chen Ying clutched her phone, staring out the library window.
The entire campus was cloaked in silver, as if a world of ice and snow had descended upon it. The world outside was beautiful, but it had nothing to do with her. After what happened last night, Chen Ying knew that if she wanted to change her fate, she had to rely on herself. Because of this, she resolved to seize the opportunity to join Lin Corporation. If Xue Yang could also get into Lin Corporation, then maybe they would still have a chance.

Not long after he put his phone down, it rang again. This ti, it was a delivery notification.
The new clothes from Trendy Apparel had arrived. Xue Yang went downstairs to get the packages, and when he saw several large boxes, he was stunned by the company’s generosity. Did they send their entire collection for the season?
Xue Yang had originally rented a two-bedroom apartnt so they could each have their own room. Now, the second bedroom had officially beco a walk-in closet. To make hanging everything easier, he had bought several new clothing racks, and this latest shipnt filled them to capacity.
The two of them were now busy unwrapping clothes. Xue Yang had never dread he would one day be troubled by having too many clothes.
"Xue Yang, do I look good in this?"
Lin Xi was wearing a thick, pink snow fleece. Underneath, she had on figure-hugging, ultra-thick thermal stockings, paired with fluffy snow boots. She also wore a fleece-lined snow cap with bear ears on top. The entire outfit made her look fluffy and unbelievably cute.
Lin Xi waved her fleece-covered hands in front of him. "Xue Yang, why aren’t you saying anything?"
Xue Yang snapped back to reality and ruffled her fluffy little head. "You look beautiful."
Lin Xi bead like a flower. "Then I’ll wear this to go skiing!"
Xue Yang, for his part, had chosen a coat that resembled a military greatcoat. It was a plain, even dowdy style, but on him, it exuded the aura of a noble young master.
"Xue Yang, you look great in that."
"Then I’ll wear this one."
At 1:45 PM, the two left the apartnt. Xue Yang carried a large backpack, which looked almost comical on his tall fra. They hailed a taxi and headed for Yancheng’s largest ski resort—Xiangshan Ski Resort.
Xiangshan Ski Resort had a full range of sleds and other skiing equipnt available, so there was no need to purchase anything extra. From a distance, the entire resort looked like a vast, mysterious snowy mountain range, almost like a fairy realm. Lin Xi breathed in the crisp, fresh air, soaking in the charm of the snow-covered world.
The weather was cold, but the atmosphere at the resort was warm and joyful. It was already teeming with skiing enthusiasts. So raced down the slopes, others played in the snow, and many relaxed in the rest area, enjoying food and hot drinks. The entire resort buzzed with laughter and vibrant energy.
Xue Yang and Lin Xi changed into their ski boots and headed for the slopes. Lin Xi had been skiing since she was a child, so she naturally didn’t need any instruction. And while Xue Yang was from the south, he had grown up ice skating. After a few wobbly monts, he quickly got the hang of it.
"Did you know that a ski resort is the easiest place to fall in love?" Lin Xi said playfully.
"Why is that?"
"For example, if you’re skiing and can’t brake in ti, you might crash into a cute guy or girl. And just like that, love blooms."
The words had barely left her mouth when a figure ca speeding toward them.
The next thing they knew, Xue Yang was on the ground with Lin Xi on top of him. Their faces were pressed together, nose to nose. They stared wide-eyed at each other, drawing cheers from the onlookers. So avid photographers even managed to capture the unexpected mont. In the photos, they looked like two strangers who had been suddenly thrown together—a beautiful accident.
The culprit had plunged headfirst into the snow and had to be dug out by a bystander.
"I’m so sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose! Are you two okay?" the girl asked, flustered.
Xue Yang pulled Lin Xi up from the snow. "Thank you, miss, for giving a girlfriend."
His humorous remark imdiately put the nervous girl at ease, and the surrounding crowd roared with laughter.
"Would so kind soul give a girlfriend too?" soone shouted.
"That depends on if you’re as good at catching as this young man!" ca the reply.
"HAHAHA..."
Lin Xi hid behind Xue Yang, her face flushed beet-red. Thankfully, her cap hid her face; otherwise, she would have been too embarrassed to look at anyone.
How could he say I was a girlfriend soone else had given him!?
