Now reading: Chapter 589 - 587: Don’t Be a Third Wheel from Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love, a Drama novel by smoke curls around me.

It was lunchti. I just promised I’d take good care of Sister Si Wen, but I didn’t even rember about her al. What a blockhead.

Xue Xing tapped his own head and hastily said to Si Wen, "Sister Si Wen, I’m sorry, it wasn’t intentional. I’ll go out and buy sothing right now. What would you like to eat?"

As he spoke, Xue Xing picked up his coat, ready to head out.

"No need. Soone already brought food," Si Wen said, gesturing for him to look toward the door.

Xue Xing looked over and saw Lin Xi and Auntie Shen standing there, smiling at them. It looked like they had been there for a while.

Xue Xing’s handso face flushed red. He didn’t know why he was blushing, but he couldn’t control it.

"Sister-in-law, Auntie Shen, you’re here."

However, the arrival of Lin Xi and Auntie Shen made Xue Xing breathe a quiet sigh of relief. At least it wasn’t just him and Sister Si Wen alone in the room anymore. Hopefully, my sister-in-law will stay.

"Auntie Shen got up early to prepare a nutritious al. You two must be hungry. Co and eat," Lin Xi said. "Si Wen, can you get out of bed?"

"I can, of course, I can!" Upon hearing Lin Xi’s words, Si Wen wanted to leap three feet off the bed to prove it.

But after eting Lin Xi’s gaze, she could only sit back down obediently. Then, she got out of bed with extre grace, sneaking glances at Lin Xi’s expression the entire ti. Seeing that her friend was no longer angry, she continued to the sofa by the table and sat down.

Xue Xing watched Si Wen’s cautious deanor with amusent. When he recalled the cold, unyielding way she had faced her own family just monts before, he found the contrast even more hilarious.

I thought Sister Si Wen wasn’t afraid of anything. Turns out, she’s afraid of my sister-in-law. It’s like I’ve discovered so incredible secret. I can’t show it. I have to keep it hidden and save it for later when I need a good laugh.

Lin Xi had been observing Si Wen from start to finish. Seeing that her complexion was rosy, she didn’t say anything more.

「On the other side」

After Si Wen’s family mbers reached the hospital entrance, the woman who had offered to stay behind asked in confusion, "Shufen, why did you pull us all away? We can’t just leave Si Wen alone in the hospital. I have to stay and take care of her."

As she spoke, she started to turn back. It was clear she genuinely cared for Si Wen, but she also respected her wishes.

Si Shufen said, "Auntie, couldn’t you see Si Wen didn’t want us hanging around like a bunch of third wheels?"

"Third wheels?" The woman froze for a mont before the connection clicked. "Are you saying Si Wen deliberately created an opportunity to be alone with that boy?"

Could that be it? The woman found it hard to believe.

Si Shufen laughed. "Oh, Auntie, wasn’t it obvious? If that boy hadn’t been there, I suspect Si Wen would have kicked us out directly."

"But didn’t she say she doesn’t like him? That he’s younger than her?" The woman was still confused. She hadn’t seen Si Wen act shy at all. If there had been any sign, she would have noticed.

"Auntie, you’re a woman yourself, and you were young once. You should know that girls sotis say the opposite of what they feel," Si Shufen said with conviction. "It’s obvious Si Wen is just too embarrassed to admit she likes that ’little brother.’ That’s just her personality. She never shows her true feelings on her face. You’ve watched her grow up; don’t you know her by now?"

The woman considered it and realized it was true. That child, Si Wen, was truly terrible at expressing her emotions. With a mouth like hers, if Lin Xi hadn’t been so good-natured, she would have stopped associating with her long ago. But those who knew her understood that Si Wen just had trouble expressing herself. Her heart, however, was definitely in the right place. She was the type of person who, if you showed her three parts of kindness, would repay you with ten.

After thinking it through, the woman voiced a new concern. "But that boy isn’t a young master from so prominent Yancheng family. Si Mingli will never agree to their marriage."

Si Shufen said dismissively, "Who says being together has to lead to marriage? Can’t they just be together without getting married?"

The woman frowned. "Without marriage, there’s no security."

"And getting married guarantees security?" Si Shufen retorted.

The woman was speechless. She opened her mouth to argue, but the thought of Si Shufen’s own life—a living example of her point—stopped her. She said no more, only hoping that Si Wen wouldn’t get too deeply hurt in the future.

Si Shufen knew what she was worried about and offered so comfort. "Don’t worry too much. They’re both still young. Who knows what the future holds? When you’re young, you should live without regrets. Otherwise, you end up like us, full of regrets. Is that happiness?"

After speaking, Si Shufen gave her a faint smile and departed. Her words made sense. A life full of regrets like theirs—was that truly happiness?

The other relatives, though part of the Si clan, were not the imdiate Si Family. They had no right to interfere in Si Wen’s affairs, nor was it their place to comnt, so they simply listened.

When Si Mingli learned that not a single mber of the family had stayed to look after Si Wen, he flew into a rage, but Si Shufen eventually managed to calm him down. The two brothers talked on the phone in the study for nearly two hours. As for what they discussed, no one knew.

However, the matter was finally put to rest. But while today was over, soone had to go to the hospital tomorrow. Otherwise, they would all be kicked out of the Si Family.

Si Wen was still completely in the dark about this. After they finished lunch, Lin Xi made the excuse of needing to bring Xue Yang his al and left with Auntie Shen. So, Si Wen definitely didn’t want anyone else showing up at the hospital unexpectedly. With nothing else to do, teasing the "little brother" seed like an excellent way to pass the ti. Isn’t it?

Feeling Si Wen’s brazen gaze on him, Xue Xing’s recently relaxed heart tensed up again.

I feel like Sister Si Wen is looking at like a hunter, and I’m the prey. She’s already set the trap, just waiting to lure in step by step. Or maybe I’m a little white rabbit and she’s the big bad wolf, kindly telling , "I’m a good person. Co here. I won’t eat you." In reality, the mont I get close, she’ll pounce on and bite my neck off. But even if Si Wen is the big bad wolf, would she really bite my neck off? The answer is no.

So, Xue Xing walked toward her without hesitation. Even if she really was the big bad wolf, he would still place himself right under her fangs and entrust himself to her completely.

Seeing Xue Xing approach with a look of soone ready to climb a mountain or dive into a sea of fire, Si Wen finally couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst out laughing.

"HAHAHAHA..."
