The mont Landon Sheffield pulled out his gun, Leona Grant’s pupils constricted.

Xylas Shepherd couldn’t stand to watch any longer. Just as he was about to step out, Leona Grant stopped him. "Don’t go. Since she dared to take soone hostage, she must have considered the consequences."

Xylas Shepherd knew Leona Grant was indifferent toward Annabelle Linton. He’d known Annabelle since they were children and couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. "But she seems to be in danger..."

Leona Grant pressed her lips together and said in a low voice, "She probably has her own plan. Let’s just watch for now. Don’t get in the way."

Xylas Shepherd glanced at her in surprise, clearly not expecting her to be so considerate of Annabelle Linton.

Watching the woman downstairs maintain her defiant posture, Leona Grant suddenly realized sothing.

She had known Annabelle Linton for over twenty years, but it was as if she’d never truly known her at all.

Annabelle was scheming, malicious, and calculating, a woman who loved the spotlight. Leona had thought she was the one person in the world who best understood her true nature, who knew exactly the kind of person she was.

But she was wrong.

She didn’t actually know her at all. It was as if, aside from her na and age, she knew nothing else.

She desperately wanted to demand why Annabelle would go through so much trouble for sothing Leona herself could have handled with a single phone call.

But looking at Annabelle’s cold, fearless face, the words caught in her throat.

Annabelle wouldn’t ask her for help. She didn’t need her.

In Annabelle’s eyes, Leona was like thin air; it had never even crossed her mind to ask for help.

"Oh." Annabelle Linton calmly took a drag from her cigarette and blew out a perfect ring of smoke, her expression completely unfazed. "Then get on with it. You don’t have to hold back on my father’s account."

Landon Sheffield was taken aback, stunned by Annabelle Linton’s utter nonchalance.

He had never seen a girl so young be so unafraid of death.

’It has to be an act,’ he thought. ’Don’t I know what this girl is really like?’

Landon Sheffield chuckled. He chambered a round and pressed the muzzle even closer to Annabelle Linton’s brow. "Since you know about the two billion, you must also know the Linton Group is about to be acquired, right? You’ve got no one to back you up anymore, and your father won’t lift a finger for you. Do you really think it’d be hard for to dispose of you right here, right now, without anyone ever knowing?

"Or do you think I won’t touch you just because you’re the Young Madam of the Grant Family? Leona Grant can’t wait for you to die so she can be free. You think I don’t know that? Girlie, you’d better beg for rcy and let my woman go. Otherwise, I don’t mind doing Leona Grant that favor."

Hearing this, Xylas Shepherd instinctively glanced at Leona Grant.

Leona Grant’s thin lips pressed into a hard line. Her face, full of cold ferocity, seed chillingly serene in the dim light.

She simply stared, her eyes dark, at the woman so elegantly exhaling smoke, her own face a blank mask.

Annabelle Linton stubbed out her cigarette, the corner of her lip curling into a strange smile. "Believe it or not, you’re the one who’s going to be begging for rcy next."

A terrible premonition suddenly seized Landon Sheffield.

Annabelle Linton’s lips curved upward. She leaned back languidly and held out her hand; a bodyguard imdiately placed a file in it.

Annabelle Linton gave him a sly smile and offered the file to Landon Sheffield. "Don’t be so sure of yourself. Sheffield, a man of your age doesn’t need to teach him to think before he acts, does he? How about you take a look at this file before you say anything else?"

Landon Sheffield eyed her with suspicion.

Annabelle Linton’s lips curled. She raised an eyebrow, gesturing for him to take the file.

Landon Sheffield’s expression was grim, but he took the file anyway.

He opened it. After a single glance, the color drained from his face.

His hand went limp, and the file fluttered to the ground.
