Aaron Wyatt let out a low chuckle, a soft, shallow laugh bubbling from his throat. He said with exaggeration, "You seem taller, too. I rember you used to need a stool just to et my gaze. Now you can at least barely see my face."
"No, you rember it wrong. How could I see your face with just a stool? Have you forgotten? I needed a telescope just to see the expression on your face, and not just any weak one, either," Annabelle Linton retorted playfully.
Aaron Wyatt smiled, his gaze soft as he looked at her. "Have you been doing okay these past few years?"
Annabelle Linton’s smile froze for a mont. Then, she self-consciously tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I’ve been all right. What about you?"
"? Hmm, let think."
Aaron Wyatt gently pinched her cheek, pursing his lips as if he were genuinely thinking it over.
After a long mont, he said, "How have I been... Well, it’s mostly the sa as before, just a lot busier than when we were in school. But after you left... I really couldn’t get used to it."
"Hm?"
Aaron Wyatt pouted pitifully and began counting on his fingers. "There was no one to cook for ... no one waiting for to co ho every day... When I forgot my keys, I had to call building managent to let in... I spent my birthday alone.
All the holidays, I was alone... The fridge was always half-empty. Stuart... Oh, right, Stuart misses you a lot, too...
He was in a bad mood for days after you left and even ran a fever. Basically, he just couldn’t adjust at all.

A pang of sorrow struck Annabelle Linton’s heart. Thinking of how heartless she had been, her eyes slowly misted over. "I’m sorry... I didn’t an to. I wasn’t thinking..."
Aaron Wyatt was taken aback, staring for a mont at her large, teary eyes.
He had just been complaining a little; he never ant to bla her.
Then, gently and with a touch of heartache, he stroked her hair. "Why are you crying all of a sudden? I wasn’t blaming you."
Annabelle Linton bit her lip, looking at him pitifully.
Aaron Wyatt pulled his large suitcase over. He took hold of her shoulder with one hand, drawing her into his embrace, and said magnanimously, "Alright, I’ll forgive you this ti. But you can’t abandon and our son again in the future, got it?"
Annabelle Linton stared at him blankly again.
Aaron Wyatt gave a sunny smile and held out a hand to her. "Annabelle Linton, I don’t have any family or friends. I only have you. I’ve already found a job and a place to live here, so I won’t be a bother. Just take pity on and take in, okay?"
The ache in Annabelle Linton’s heart intensified. She took his hand and said seriously, "Okay."
A smile played on Aaron Wyatt’s lips. "Then I’ll be in your care for the rest of my life."
"Of course."

Vivian Yates and Faye Sheffield watched the couple embracing in the distance, their hands clenching into fists simultaneously.
To think they’d run into a scene like this just coming to the airport to pick soone up. There were no words!
