Leona Grant sneered, "You think I wouldn’t dare to kill you?"

"Wouldn’t dare..."

Annabelle Linton lowered her gaze, mulling over those two words, and then laughed abruptly.

’Wouldn’t dare?’

’Manslaughter is still murder. Besides, could what he did in my past life even be considered manslaughter?’

’Did anyone force him to do it?’

Her slightly hoarse voice was filled with languid mockery. Annabelle Linton looked at him and smiled indifferently. "Why wouldn’t you dare? Is there anything in this world you, Leona Grant, are afraid to do?"

With that, the sarcastic smile vanished from Annabelle Linton’s face, and she walked away coldly.

Leona Grant frowned as he watched her haughty retreating figure, his chiseled features etched with deep confusion.

Just a mont ago, he had clearly seen sarcasm and a flash of resentnt in her expression.

’Why?’

’Why would she hate him?’

’Is it the kind of hatred born from unrequited love?’

’Or is it because Aaron Wyatt, the man who was so good to her for four years, is back? Did she compare us, realize how awful I am, and start despising ?’

An icy, angry sneer touched Leona Grant’s lips.

Annabelle Linton stood waiting for Leona Grant in front of his grandfather’s hospital room.

Suddenly, a warm hand enveloped her cold one.

Disgust flashed clearly in Annabelle Linton’s eyes. She frowned, trying to pull her hand away, but Leona Grant’s cold voice sounded next to her ear. "What, not even willing to pretend anymore? You weren’t like this before. What’s with the high-and-mighty act?"

Annabelle Linton’s unflustered gaze swept over him. She gave a faint, cool smile, her expression deceptively harmless. "That’s right. I must have been blind and out of my mind to have ever liked you. But I’m all better now. It’s not too late for that, is it? Hmm?"

After she spoke, Annabelle Linton knocked on the door, her face devoid of expression.

Leona Grant opened his mouth to retort, but seeing her knock, he swallowed the words.

’Other people would dream of exchanging a single word with him, yet whenever she spoke to him, she seed instantly impatient.’

’At that mont, he realized she was different.’

Butler Zane opened the door. Leona Grant watched as, in the instant the door swung open, Annabelle Linton put on her warst, most inviting smile.

But all Leona Grant could see was indifference and distance.

It was then that Leona Grant suddenly realized sothing.

In the past, when he had seen her as scheming and manipulative, she had actually been as gentle as a calm stream.

But now that he was beginning to see her as that gentle woman, she had beco as indifferent as the wind.

He knew her entire transformation was because of him.

But it seed he was always one step behind, never able to see the real Annabelle Linton.

Annabelle Linton and Leona Grant walked into the hospital room. Annabelle smiled at the old man. "Grandpa, we’re here to take you ho."

The old man glanced at their clasped hands, a knowing smile gracing his pale face. "You two are so busy with work. I’m just being discharged; Butler Zane would have been perfectly fine. There was no need for you to go to all this trouble."

"Of course not. Your well-being is our top priority, Grandpa. Besides, Mom, Dad, and Ashley are all waiting for you at ho," Annabelle Linton cooed.

"Haha, you silly girl..."

Patrick Grant was so delighted by Annabelle Linton’s sweet words that he was grinning from ear to ear. He chuckled. "You two don’t have to dote on this old man all day. As long as you and Leona are happy together and give a great-grandchild, I’ll have no regrets..."

Annabelle Linton feigned a bashful expression and lowered her gaze, hiding the coldness that flickered in her eyes.

’Have a child with Leona Grant?’

’How disgusting.’

When they arrived at the family estate, the Grant Family had already prepared lunch.

Annabelle Linton was just about to take her seat when the phone in her pocket rang.

It was a call from the hospital. She was needed for a surgery.

A life was on the line, and that took precedence over everything. This was perhaps the harshest reality of being a doctor: always having to be ready to save soone.
