Vivian Yates took a furious step forward, glaring at Annabelle Linton. "Annabelle Linton, did you never intend to let Faye Sheffield go? Have you been playing from the start?"
Annabelle Linton regarded her coolly, a harmless-looking smile gracing her lips.
But her expression clearly said, ’So what if I was playing you? What are you going to do about it?’ "How could you call it playing ? Didn’t I let her go?"
"But they still took Faye Sheffield away!"
"Then my apologies."
Annabelle Linton shrugged, speaking with a roguish air. "That’s none of my business. Faye Sheffield isn’t my mother or father. Did you expect to go through hell and high water for her just because she’s in trouble? I really can’t compare to you, Miss Yates."
Trembling with rage, Vivian Yates grabbed a crystal ornant from the table and hurled it at Annabelle Linton. "You’ve gone too far!"
As Leona Grant watched the crystal ornant hurtling toward Annabelle Linton, his eyes flashed with a dangerous light.
The ornant was a solid, square-shaped piece of glass, as large as a steel ball from a toy set. If it hit Annabelle Linton, wouldn’t it crack her head wide open?
Just as he was about to act, he saw Annabelle Linton elegantly sidestep, dodging the projectile.
A slight smirk played on Annabelle Linton’s lips, a violent impulse brewing in the depths of her eyes. Her already cold gaze turned as frigid as a frozen river. "What’s wrong? Done with the act? Your dear Leona is still here. Are you giving up your saintly persona?"
Vivian Yates instinctively glanced at Leona Grant, only to find him watching her with cold eyes.
A pang of regret hit Vivian Yates. ’I was too impulsive.’
But backing down now would seem hypocritical.
A cold glint flashed in Vivian Yates’s eyes. She looked at Annabelle Linton as if she were a stranger, her expression full of disappointnt. "Annabelle, you’ve changed. You’ve really changed! You were never like this before. Why? Why are you targeting ? What have I ever done wrong?"
’Changed?’
Annabelle Linton savored that single word, a clear glint of malice flashing in her eyes.
The next second, she grabbed a wine bottle from the table and threw it at Vivian Yates!
Vivian Yates didn’t have Annabelle Linton’s quick reflexes and was hit instantly!
Crimson liquid and fresh blood trickled down her face, making it impossible to tell which was wine and which was blood.
"Oh, I’ve changed in many ways. This is just one of them. Care to see the rest?"
Seeing the shock in Leona Grant’s eyes, a triumphant glint flashed in Vivian’s. ’This is exactly what I wanted,’ she thought. ’For Annabelle to lose her temper.’
"Hah. You’re no longer the Annabelle I once knew."
She gave a desolate smile, the disappointnt on her face deepening. She looked as if she were about to collapse, forcing herself to stay upright by bracing against a dining table. "I’m sorry. I was impulsive just now. Go ahead, hit . As long as it calms your anger, I won’t fight back today."
"Alright. You said it."
A smirk touched Annabelle Linton’s lips. In the next instant, she moved so fast it was as if she’d teleported, appearing right in front of Vivian Yates and looking down at her.
Annabelle Linton was five-foot-seven, and in her current four-inch heels, she stood a full head taller than Vivian Yates.
She placed her hands on the dining table that stood between them. Her lips curved into a smirk, and then—
"BANG—"
A trendous crash shattered the silence of the hospital room.
With a blank expression, Annabelle Linton had flipped the dining table over. Fruit, tea, and utensils went crashing and clattering to the floor in a heap.
"Ahh!"
Vivian Yates was knocked aside by the table.
Another pot of scalding tea spilled onto her. The searing pain of her flesh being burned was even more intense than before, so agonizing that Vivian Yates couldn’t even straighten up!
