And just like that, Leona Grant was left all alone.
By ten p.m., Annabelle Linton and Ashley still hadn’t returned.
Leona Grant listlessly watched an Arican show on TV, taking an irritated swig of his drink. He was clearly growing impatient.
The dim light playing across his stoic face accentuated its sharp, handso features.
His half-rolled sleeves and the top two buttons of his shirt left undone gave him a rebellious air. Even in his languid state, his every expression radiated an innate, captivating dignity.
He’d lost count of the cigarettes he’d smoked and the number of tis he’d glanced out the window, yet that damn woman still wasn’t back.
’Did Ashley Grant lead her astray? Did they go to a nightclub?’
Leona Grant figured that was a strong possibility.
’Annabelle Linton is so aloof; she’d never want to go to a place that crowded.’
Leona Grant couldn’t sit still any longer. He shot up from his seat.
’This won’t do! Annabelle Linton is gorgeous. What if so other guy hits on her?!’
’I really, really shouldn’t have let soone like Ashley Grant into the house.’
’Wasn’t I just asking for trouble?!’
And so, the brilliant Young Master Grant easily pinned the bla on his own sister, conveniently forgetting who had suggested the outing in the first place.
With a grim expression, Leona Grant called Ashley.
The call had barely connected when he heard Ashley’s ringtone nearby. He quickly hung up and sat back on the sofa, resuming his movie with a poker face.
Ashley Grant and Annabelle Linton ca in, changing their shoes in the entryway.
"Why’d you call? Think we got kidnapped or sothing?"
Leona Grant shot Ashley a cold look, but then his eyes fixed on Annabelle Linton behind her, a stunned admiration flashing in their depths.
Annabelle Linton was wearing a light blue, V-neck bohemian maxi dress.
She looked ethereal, like a fairy who had wandered into the mortal realm. Her perfectly shaped brows, in particular, gave her an air of untouchable elegance.
Her makeup was exquisite, and her long, wavy hair cascaded down, swaying beautifully with each step.
Annabelle Linton casually brushed her hair back. Her cool gaze t Leona Grant’s fiery one before she swept her eyes over him indifferently and headed upstairs.
Even that one glance was utterly bewitching.
"She’s already gone."
Ashley’s lips twitched. Seeing Leona still staring at Annabelle’s retreating back, she said, exasperated.
Leona Grant finally snapped out of it, and his expression imdiately turned grim.
"Ashley, I had you stay here so I could keep an eye on your studies, not so you could go out and have fun! Have you even started your howork yet?"
’He’d thought her coming over ant Annabelle would stick around for a while. He never expected she’d be the one to whisk her away!’
Ashley was speechless. "..."
’Keep an eye on my studies?’
’How can you even say that with a straight face?’
’Besides, your girl was the one who took out!’
Ashley rolled her eyes so hard they nearly got stuck. Her lip twitched. "Bro, it’s the weekend tomorrow..."
Leona Grant’s expression was still sour. "So what if it’s the weekend? Does that an you don’t have to study?"
"..." Ashley pressed her lips together, speechless. She was about to say sothing, but then a cunning glint flashed in her eyes.
"Bro, Annabelle and I had so much fun today! Did you see how she looked just now? So pretty, right?"
At the ntion of Annabelle Linton, Leona’s gaze softened, and his expression lost its sharp edge.
He sat down, casually picked up a glass, and took a sip. "So where did you two go today?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
’He could take her there himself soti.’
"We went clothes shopping with Aaron Wyatt. He’s the one who bought Annabelle’s dress."
"PFFT—"
