Annabelle Linton bit her lip hard and roughly wiped her tears away.

’No. I can’t let my baby see this weak.’

A woman may be weak, but a mother is strong. She had her child with her; there was no reason to feel aggrieved.

CLANG—

The iron door swung open, and the woman delivering the al walked in, a look of disgust on her face.

"Ti to eat, ti to eat! Annabelle Linton, why don’t you just drop dead? Having to bring you food every day is such a curse!" The maid walked in, pinching her nose, her voice shrill. She slamd the food onto the table with a terrible attitude.

Seeing the maid about to leave, Annabelle Linton quickly grabbed her. "Please, what’s happening outside? How did Vivian Yates’s child die? Have they found the killer?"

The maid shot her a look of disgust and violently wrenched her hand away. "Who the fuck are you trying to fool, Annabelle Linton? Everyone saw you kill Miss Yates’s child. The whole world knows, and you’re still playing innocent? You’re a real ’white lotus,’ a scheming bitch!"

Annabelle Linton gritted her teeth and shouted at her, "I didn’t do it! I didn’t kill her child! Soone is trying to fra !"

"Tsk, tsk. Look at this performance. Still keeping up the act?" The maid shook her head sarcastically. "Too bad your act is useless. You’re being sent to the police station tomorrow. It’s an order from the Young Master. The wicked get what they deserve, and you’ve brought this on yourself. Pah! Annabelle Linton, you had it coming!"

After speaking, the maid spat viciously at Annabelle Linton and left in a rage.

Annabelle Linton stood frozen, as if struck by lightning.

The police station...

’...Sent to the police station tomorrow?’

Annabelle Linton’s pupils constricted. She began to pound desperately on the door. "Soone! Help ! I’ve been frad! Please, believe !"

"Leona Grant, let out! You have no right to lock in here! I didn’t kill Vivian Yates’s child! Let out!"

Annabelle Linton pounded on the door and shouted all day, but no one answered.

But she didn’t give up. If she was sent to the police station, it would be over for her—utterly and completely over.

"Leona Grant, I was frad! I didn’t want to kill Vivian Yates’s child! Soone is trying to set up! Co out and listen to my explanation!"

"Let out! Leona Grant, you have no right to keep locked in here! Let out!"

"Leona... I’m begging you, please let out. I’m carrying our child. Are you really willing to stand by and watch him suffer, too? He’s the only heir to the Grant Family bloodline! The child is innocent!"

"Leona Grant!"

Annabelle Linton scread, completely breaking down, her cries turning into choked sobs. "Leona Grant, let out!"

"Out?" Vivian Yates stood in the doorway, a mocking look on her face. "Things have already gotten to this point, and you still expect to get out? That’s hilarious!"

Annabelle Linton was clearly stunned. A flash of jealousy and hatred flared in her eyes before she quickly suppressed it. "Vivian Yates, I was frad. I didn’t kill your child; soone set up! Don’t you want to find the person who really killed your baby? For the sake of us growing up together, help see Leona. We can work together to find the real culprit!"

"See her?" Vivian Yates scoffed. "You killed my child. Why on earth would I help you?"

Annabelle Linton clenched her fists and said, reining in her anger, "The fetus-preserving dicine I sent over that day—I brewed it with my own two hands. There couldn’t have been anything wrong with it. Soone is trying to fra , and they wanted to harm your child! Please, help . If you just help see Leona, I swear I’ll help you find the killer! Just help , and I’ll do anything you ask!"
