She stared at him coldly, her expression showing no trace of fear.

Leona Grant’s flawless profile was impossibly cold, and he radiated a savage hostility. "You fucking say that again! Say you want to die for that man one more ti!"
Annabelle Linton scoffed, completely unfazed by his fury.
She chuckled. "You think I’m scared? I could say it a hundred tis, and it would still be the sa. If you dare to touch him, I’ll die right in front of you! You’ll carry the burden of killing your ex-wife for all eternity!"
Being known for killing one’s ex-wife was no small thing. It would expose Leona Grant’s cruelty and heartlessness, and it would be disastrous for him.

Leona Grant roared and, in the next instant, his hand shot out and clamped around her throat, his face contorted with rage. "Ready to follow him to the grave? You’re willing to throw away your life for that man, is that it? Such a grand romance! Then go ahead and die! If you die, you’ll just be another tombstone in this world. You think I give a damn?!"
Annabelle Linton let out a low laugh, her icy eyes eting his, completely devoid of emotion. Refusing to show any weakness, she said, "Fine. Go on. Strangle . Let’s see what you’re made of, Leona Grant. Let’s see just how powerful you really are!"
"You’re challenging !"
"So what if I am?!"
"Fine. Good!" Leona Grant let out two sharp, angry laughs, his hand tightening on her throat. "Annabelle Linton, have you ever had any respect for at all?! In your eyes, am I really so much fucking worse than that man? Fine! Great! In that case, I’ll send you both to hell together!"
Annabelle Linton let out a few cold laughs, neither resisting nor struggling.

As Leona Grant watched her face drain of color, turning from a flushed red to a deathly pale, a jolt of panic shot through him.

But looking at her apathetic expression, Leona Grant knew there was no chance she would beg.

A sudden emptiness hollowed out Leona Grant’s heart, a complete void accompanied by a stabbing pain.

A thought flashed through Leona Grant’s mind—a justification he could finally use to convince himself.
