’Where to?’
Leona Grant opened the door. The light from the hallway stretched his tall figure into a long shadow, giving him a cold and solitary air.
He pursed his lips. He had no idea where he should go. ’It’s like nobody needs anywhere, is it?’
Finally, he softly uttered two words, "Go ho."
After seeing that woman just now, he missed Annabelle Linton even more.
’I should go back and see her.’
’Maybe, for Aaron Wyatt’s sake, she’ll make dinner again, talk to , and sleep with . That wouldn’t be so bad, would it?’
’At least I can still enjoy her kindness, even if it has an ulterior motive.’
So, he had to go back.
Besides, this place was full of unsavory characters, and he was a married man.
...
At 6:50, the security in the basent was just as light as expected.
Annabelle Linton managed to give the few bodyguards drugged drinks and successfully entered the basent.
CLANG—
She opened the door and walked in.
Aaron Wyatt was still sitting in the sa spot, his eyes lowered in thought. He didn’t react at all when soone ca in.
The faint light from the window fell on his handso face. He was covered in injuries and looked disheveled, but he didn’t appear pitiable. Instead, he exuded a sense of fearlessness.
Annabelle Linton felt another pang in her heart. She rushed to his side. "Aaron Wyatt, how are you?"
Hearing the familiar voice, Aaron Wyatt’s eyes shot open. He looked at her, finding it hard to believe. "Annabelle?"
"Yes, I’m here to get you. Let’s go, I’ll get you out of here." Annabelle Linton crouched down to help him up, not daring to waste a second as she led him out.
Seeing her urgency, Aaron Wyatt didn’t dare to delay and followed her out.
The air in the corridor was damp and cold. Darkness stretched out before them, guided only by a few scattered lights.
Supporting Aaron Wyatt, Annabelle Linton walked forward with resolute, quick steps.
As they walked, Aaron Wyatt asked, "Annabelle, you snuck in here, didn’t you?"
"Yes."
Aaron Wyatt pursed his lips and stopped. After a mont’s thought, he started walking back. "This is too reckless. Have you thought about what will happen to you if you get caught? Forget it, let’s go back. Just pretend you were never here. I’ll figure out a way to get out myself. You don’t have to worry about ."
’If he really had a way out, he would have been gone long ago.’
Annabelle Linton understood what Aaron Wyatt was thinking.
He was afraid she wasn’t fully prepared, that if they left now, Leona Grant would find out. That would only infuriate him, and he feared Leona Grant would harm her.
’That fool. Even at a ti like this, he’s still thinking about .’
’If Leona Grant was going to let him go, I would never have risked doing this.’
’But the situation no longer allowed them to delay. If Aaron Wyatt stayed here any longer, he would die sooner or later.’
’Besides, the key was stolen and the n were drugged by her. They had already co this far. Was there any turning back?’
Annabelle Linton frowned at him and said firmly, "Don’t worry, I’m fully prepared. Nothing will go wrong."
Glancing at her watch, she helped him up and started walking again. "Hurry, we only have five minutes left. We won’t make it if we don’t go now."
Aaron Wyatt stopped delaying and walked with her, not forgetting to remind her, "If we get caught later, push all the bla onto . Do you hear ?"
Annabelle Linton didn’t answer, simply saying softly, "We won’t get caught."
Aaron Wyatt asked again, stubbornly, "Promise . I can’t let you get hurt in any way."
Seeing his serious expression, Annabelle Linton grunted in acknowledgnt.
’If they were discovered, it would definitely infuriate Leona Grant. He would certainly feel that she had betrayed him, causing him to lose face.’
’Shifting the bla to Aaron Wyatt would be completely useless, but Annabelle Linton wouldn’t tell him that.’
