"You!" Mr. Yates’s face turned livid, and he raised his hand to slap her.
Just as the hand was about to fall, Annabelle watched him without a trace of fear. With a subtle movent, she easily dodged the slap.
"President Yates, we have a long road ahead of us. Did you think you could just slap and get away with it for free? Did you think there would be no consequences?"
Mr. Yates imdiately fell silent.
His company was in the crucial process of going public. The rumors about the Linton Family’s collapse were unreliable, and Annabelle was both the eldest daughter of the Linton Family and the Young Madam of the Grant Family. He truly had nothing to gain from slapping her.

Seeing her mother’s face flush with anger, Vivian’s eyes narrowed.

A crafty glint flashed in Vivian’s eyes. Feigning weakness, she cried out, "That’s enough! How long are you going to keep arguing? Annabelle, why must you be so relentless?"
"My mom was just speaking as a mother. She can’t bear to see her daughter get hurt, so she spoke without thinking. Why do you have to keep hounding us like this? Whatever it is I’ve done wrong, just tell . I’ll apologize. I’ll even get on my knees and beg. Please, just let us go, won’t you?"
She finished with two weak coughs, looking as if she were about to collapse. Leona Grant rushed to steady her.
Ashley Grant was utterly disgusted. She was about to charge forward and give them a piece of her mind when Annabelle held her back.
Annabelle sneered. "The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! You’ve really shown the aning of ’like mother, like daughter.’ And what’s this about ** not letting *you* go?
