Having decided to head to the U.B.C.S. temporary camp, Lear and the others wasted no ti. Carlos, rubbing his shoulder, led the way back toward the tunnel the U.B.C.S. had co from.

As they hurried along, the Black soldier proactively approached Lear to strike up a conversation. "Hello. I'm Tyrell Patrick, currently serving as a U.B.C.S. provisional technical officer."

"Hello. Lear, just an ordinary Raccoon City patrol officer."

Hearing Lear's answer, Tyrell pursed his lips, his expression turning serious as he continued, "To be honest, Officer Lear—setting aside the strength it takes to kick two fully ard, grown n flying—your speed has completely exceeded the limits of a normal human. From where you were hiding to where you stood before us was roughly ten ters. The current world record for ten ters is about 1.8 seconds, and you..."

He turned to look at Lear, his tone laced with disbelief. "From the mont you started moving until the combat ended, the entire process took less than three seconds. That is no longer sothing a human being should be capable of."

Lear raised an eyebrow and asked flatly, "So, what are you trying to say? You think I'm a biological experint?"

Tyrell imdiately shook his head and lowered his voice. "Not at all. I'm simply marveling at it; I've never seen a human reach your level."

He paused, his voice dropping even lower. "Mr. Lear, you may not know this, but before I joined the U.B.C.S., I was an observer for the Umbrella Corporation, specifically tasked with monitoring the live combat effectiveness of their Bio-organic weapons. Your reaction speed is rare even among those weapons. Moreover, those Bio-organic weapons are extrely unstable and... incredibly expensive to produce."

Lear keenly caught the key piece of information in his words and imdiately asked, "What do you an you 'used' to be an observer? What are you now?"

"Now?" Tyrell gave a self-deprecating laugh, his eyes growing dim. "Now, I'm just an ordinary rcenary."

"I once believed that everything Umbrella did would allow humanity to end wars with minimal casualties and avoid the catastrophes brought by various weapons of mass destruction. But I was wrong, Mr. Lear... You will never know the things I have seen."

With those words, Tyrell shook his head and deliberately quickened his pace, silently moving away from Lear's side.

Lear watched his retreating back, lost in thought.

In the original plot of Resident Evil 3, Tyrell Patrick was a pure Umbrella monitor just like Nicholai—and a loyal dog at that.

In the remake, however, he beca an ally to Jill and Carlos, completely redeed, eventually sacrificing himself while being pursued by Nesis.

When Lear had been gripping his throat earlier, he had considered whether to simply kill him, but after so thought, he had decided against it. It seed the Black technical officer had a hidden past; for now, he could be classified as an ally.

The group did not move very fast. Lear could clearly sense that Carlos and the others were intentionally slowing their pace to accommodate the three girls in the party.

The peace did not last long before Murphy, unable to contain his curiosity, walked up to Lear's side and asked, "So brother, what exactly did you an back there when you said Umbrella was behind all of this?"

Lear raised a hand and pointed at Jill. "You should ask this officer. She knows best exactly what they experienced in the Mansion in the Arklay Mountains."

Hearing this, Jill gave a brief account of the S.T.A.R.S. squad's previous encounter and the root cause of this Resident Evil outbreak in Raccoon City.

After listening to Jill's narrative, the faces of the several U.B.C.S. mbers were etched with shock, finding it difficult to accept for a mont.

"Then what the hell were we sent to Raccoon City for?" one of the mbers asked, his voice cracking.

Tyrell, who had just walked to the front of the group, suddenly took a deep breath and interjected in a heavy voice, "To test the combat capabilities of bioweapons. They've done this kind of thing plenty of tis before."

All the U.B.C.S. mbers snapped their eyes toward Tyrell. The Black youth kept his head lowered and continued slowly, "I've personally seen many similar scenes, though most happened in small towns in Africa or Latin Arica. It seems the high-ranking officials at Umbrella have beco increasingly insane."

Hearing Tyrell's words, Murphy looked at him and pressed, "How do you know this? Or rather, did you know all along?"

His tone carried a clear aggressive edge, and the other U.B.C.S. mbers also cast suspicious glances toward Tyrell.

Tyrell shook his head gently. "I didn't know. Like you, I'm just an ordinary rcenary."

Just as Murphy was about to press further, Carlos stepped forward to block him.

"Listen, Murphy, regardless of what Tyrell did before, he's one of ours now. Rember? If he hadn't led the n to cover our retreat, we'd all be dead at City Hall!"

Carlos's words caused Murphy and the rest of the mbers to cool down from their indignant anger at being deceived.

The scene beca sowhat awkward for a mont.

"So, gentlen, is the drama of comrades throwing fits over? Is it about ti to keep moving?" Katherine, who had been walking at the rear, suddenly spoke up. "I don't know anything about so Umbrella conspiracy. All I know is that we're in the sa boat right now. Everyone's top priority is to stay alive."

Katherine's slightly forceful words might have felt uncomfortable under normal circumstances, but in this environnt, they provided everyone with a way out. They collectively chose to move past the topic and continued walking forward.

Halfway there, Murphy seed to have realized sothing. He walked up to Tyrell and took the initiative to apologize. "Sorry, Tyrell. We got too worked up just now. Carlos is right; without you, we probably would have been finished at City Hall."

Tyrell shook his head and offered a bitter smile. "It's fine. It's only natural for you to doubt . I should have guessed what Umbrella was up to long ago... Damn it!"

"It's okay, Tyrell. Like that lady said, we're comrades—we're on the sa side. We'll face whatever cos together," a U.B.C.S. mber in the group added.

Looking at the teammates around him who were once again casting friendly glances his way, Tyrell remained silent. After a mont, he raised his head again, a smile of relief on his face. "Right. We're on the sa side. We face it together!"

Seeing his teammates reconcile, Carlos, walking at the very front, felt the corners of his mouth tilt up in a slight smile. He intentionally slowed his pace to walk beside Katherine.

"Beautiful, thank you, truly. If it wasn't for you just now, I'm afraid that misunderstanding wouldn't have been so easy to resolve."

Katherine shook her head slightly, acting indifferent. "I just don't like standing around doing nothing. Arguing is pointless; it's too inefficient."

Though her words sounded detached, in the eyes of Sherry standing beside her, this "big sister" who always acted like she didn't care about anything already had a faint blush creeping across the tips of her ears and cheeks.

What happened just now seed like a minor interlude. Soon, the looming silhouette of the subway station platform appeared ahead.

Two figures holding guns were standing at the subway entrance, seemingly checking sothing.

"We're here!" Carlos turned back, spreading his arms and smiling at Lear and the others.
