For Lear, the mory of the ga was etched into his mind—the core routes, zoning layout, and hidden corners of the entire underground NEST were sothing he knew by heart.

But the others were here for the first ti. After a brief observation, Ada was the first to leave the front desk hall. Once she confird Leon didn't have any major issues, she headed straight for the West Area.

Lear actually knew why she chose the West Area. It was the NEST's main virus research zone; in her words, she wanted to see if she could find any physical evidence. Leon originally planned to go with Ada, figuring they could watch each other's backs, but Ada, who already had a clear plan in mind, politely turned him down.

Lear knew Ada still hadn't given up—she still wanted to find the G-Virus—but he didn't stop her. He just let Ada go.

Not long after Ada left, Claire and Alyssa also departed from the front desk.

Unlike Ada, they were acting on Annette's request to go together to the control room and activate the self-destruct sequence.

Both readily agreed to the request—protecting Annette while also gathering material for Alyssa and keeping an eye on Annette.

Watching the four won leave one after another, the spacious hall was left with only Leon and Lear facing each other.

Leon gave a helpless smile. "Boss, looks like we're the ones being shunned. Guess it's still you and as a team."

As he spoke, Leon slowly moved the injured part of his back, gently raising his arm to stretch his waist, tentatively testing his strength. But strangely, Leon no longer felt any pain now—and it hadn't been that long.

To Leon's remark, Lear gave an ambiguous smile and placed a hand on Leon's shoulder, saying with a hint of schadenfreude, "Leon, it looks like only you got shunned. I'm heading to the Laboratory on B2. Annette just told there's data on the G-Virus there, and she asked to retrieve it. So, you take your ti wandering around here."

With that, Lear didn't give Leon a chance to reply. He turned and walked toward the Shaft.

Leon watched his retreating back, opened his mouth, and looked utterly speechless.

So in the end, he was the only one who hadn't been assigned any work. Leon shook his head with a wry smile and chose a door that no one else had taken. He decided to find sothing to do on his own.

In truth, the others besides Lear hadn't deliberately ignored Leon; they thought it was better to let him stay there and recover from his injury.

The only one who knew Bristleback's striking power and regenerative abilities was Lear, and he had intentionally shaken Leon off.

If he rembered correctly, there was a trap on B2 that Annette had specifically set up to attract William. Just a mont ago, while the others were observing the NEST, Lear had also confird this with Annette.

The Bioreactor Room on B2 was the trap Annette had prepared. Inside, she had placed many clones—grown from William's genes after he mutated and escaped—hoping they would attract his attention to so extent and protect Sherry.

By shaking Leon off, Lear intended to eliminate William and confirm one thing.

While he was exchanging words with Leon, the trio of Claire, Alyssa, and Ada had already left through the Main Shaft. When Lear entered the Shaft, he was still stunned by the NEST's grandeur—it was hard to imagine such a structure built underground. Unlike in the ga, the rock ceiling overhead had been deliberately shaped like a do, while the rock walls on both sides were adorned with various lighting fixtures for illumination. All the lights were directed onto the central elevator and the three corridors.

The central elevator was larger. As Lear approached it, he found the interior space was roughly about ten square ters. The suspended bridges leading in three directions didn't even have railings. With the lights shining on them, the tallic sheen gave the impression of walking on water.

Lear couldn't help but admire that Umbrella's skill tree really had always been skewed. Their construction skills were nothing to ntion—a traditional forte—but in weapon developnt, how could that Rail Rifle not be more reliable than the Tyrant?

But when his gaze turned to the corridor, Lear grew sowhat interested. Back when he played the ga, he had always been curious about what was down there. So, unable to resist, he walked to the edge of the passage and peered down.

Beneath the passage was utter darkness. Just as Lear was about to turn and leave, a piercing, bone-chilling dread suddenly swept through his entire body, making his hairs stand on end. He instinctively looked down again. Though he couldn't see anything, Lear could sense that sothing was down there, quietly watching his every move.

At that mont, the insect sense that had briefly appeared in the hospital returned. Under that strange black-and-white perspective, Lear seed to see...

"Lear?"

"What the hell!"

A sudden call startled Lear, nearly making him fall off the bridge. After he finally steadied himself and turned around, he saw Friday standing nearby, also curiously peering downward.

Annoyed, Lear smacked him on his big green head. "You nearly scared to death. Do you know how dangerous that was just now?"

Being slapped, Friday shrank his head and didn't dare say anything more.

Distracted by him, Lear's feeling of being watched also vanished, so he decided not to look down anymore. He turned back and retreated to the Central Elevator, leading Friday toward the West Laboratory.

"I told you to follow her. How did it go?"

"I lost her. That woman is very smart. I couldn't keep up."

Despite having so fondness for Ada Wong, there was no way he would let her take the G-Virus.

The reason Lear had let Ada go look for the G-Virus was that he wanted it too.

That's right—after being seriously injured, his body's repair had beco abnormally slow, leaving him in a half-crippled state. It wasn't that he couldn't use that power, but after using it, Lear would beco completely drained. He had experinted with that earlier when facing the Giant Alligator.

Back then, seeing Leon in danger, Lear unconsciously ripped off the sewer's iron bars—rebar as thick as an adult's wrist—and then, using Wesker-like speed, teleported almost instantly to the alligator's side and shredded its brain.

The result was obvious: he lay on the ground for a long ti before Leon helped him stand up. Without detailed testing, Lear could only speculate that the balance between his innate superhuman physique and the T-Virus had been broken. The T-Virus's regenerative ability could no longer sustain his body through continuous explosive bursts.

In simpler terms, his stamina bar was full, but his stamina recovery speed was insufficient. He could only serve as a heavy artillery, hoping for a one-hit kill; otherwise, he'd be in serious trouble.

That was why Lear planned to take the G-Virus and, once outside, examine his body and possibly rge with the G-Virus.

After Ada left, he had arranged for Friday to follow her. This was truly a last resort—there was no one else he could assign this task to. Leon, Claire—both were hot-blooded hotheads who would explode on the spot if they heard his plan. Alyssa was at least soone he could talk to, but even setting aside how to get her help, her combat ability was no match for the battle-hardened Ada Wong.

So Lear had no choice but to send Friday to tail her, yet the guy ended up losing her anyway.

Still, Lear didn't bla him. After all, losing track of Auntie Wong wasn't shaful—even Leon had chased her for thirty years and still didn't know if he'd caught up, let alone Friday. They'd et again eventually anyway; he'd deal with it then.

Thinking this, master and pet walked through the West Corridor and entered the Laboratory.

But neither of them noticed that just after they left, a large, pitch-black mass had been clinging to the cold, slippery rock wall of the Main Shaft, slowly climbing up.
