Now reading: Chapter 69 69: [69] Tyrant rematch from Resident Evil: A New Hope, a Action novel by AstartesTL.

Lear crouched low as Friday took the lead, following closely behind with heavy but cautious footsteps. Under the dim light, one man and one B.O.W. moved slowly toward the unknown danger ahead.

anwhile, the door to the P-4 Lab was silently opened by Ada using an ID wristband. She slipped inside, imdiately locking her gaze on the center of the lab table—the cold storage box containing the blue test tube sample.

Ada's eyes lit up as she approached the cold storage box holding the G-Virus.

"After all that searching, here it is without any effort."

Outside the lab

The banging sound from the iron door at the end of the corridor suddenly stopped. Just as Lear was about to pause and continue observing, Friday let out a sharp shriek.

There, from deep within the corridor, the Tyrant, with bulging muscles and wearing a straitjacket, stepped out slowly. His heavy footsteps made the floor tremble, and his hollow, crimson eyes locked directly onto Lear.

Lear imdiately drew his handgun and fired several shots at the Tyrant's head, but the bullets only sparked against its hardened skin, failing to stop its advance. The Tyrant swung its massive fist, sending a gust of wind as it hurtled toward Lear. He barely dodged to the side, and the tal wall beside him instantly caved in from the impact.

"Friday, stop it!"

Lear issued the command, though it was unnecessary—Friday was already snarling and charging forward, wrapping its sturdy arms around the Tyrant's waist and pulling with all its might to drag it back.

The Tyrant thrashed in fury, countering with a punch to Friday's shoulder. Friday grunted but refused to let go, stubbornly holding the Tyrant back as its sharp claws sank deep into the Tyrant's chest, tearing off the straitjacket along with a chunk of the Tyrant's bluish-gray flesh.

The Tyrant retaliated by gripping Friday's claws tightly, preventing them from digging any deeper.

Seizing the opening, Lear circled to the Tyrant's side, aid at the exposed crimson heart on its chest, and fired several shots.

The bullets struck the weak point, causing the Tyrant to roar in agony and freeze montarily. Lear took the chance to leap up and hurl a spare grenade toward the Tyrant's chest.

The mont the grenade touched the Tyrant, Friday forced it to the ground, embedding the grenade into its chest.

Seeing Friday's move, Lear's eyes narrowed, and he quickly tried to pull it away—but it was already too late.

Boom!!!!

A violent explosion sent countless bits of foul-slling flesh and fragnts of the black straitjacket flying past Lear.

When he raised his head again to look at where the Tyrant had been, he saw that its entire upper body was gone, leaving only two lonely legs standing in place. Friday lay motionless behind the Tyrant.

Frowning deeply, Lear imdiately rushed over.

Friday's condition at that mont couldn't be called bad—it was more like dying. Green scales were scattered everywhere from the blast, and dark green blood pooled across the floor. Its strange, wide mouth hung slightly open, seeming to have more air going out than coming in.

Lear quickly sprayed it with a First Aid Spray.

Just then, the door to the P-4 Lab opened from inside, and Ada stepped out with her gun raised and a wary expression.

She saw Friday lying on the ground not far away, alongside Lear, who looked troubled. He glanced again at the Tyrant, which was now just a pair of legs, and imdiately understood what had happened.

Hearing the footsteps, Lear's muscles instinctively tensed, then slowly relaxed.

Fortunately, by now Friday's breathing was gradually stabilizing, and the bleeding had stopped. It seed the injury was under control.

"Got the G-Virus?"

Lear tossed aside the empty First Aid Spray and looked at Ada.

Ada shook the case in her hand.

"Mmm-hmm~ But are you sure your pet is fine?"

Lear stood up from the ground. "Should be no problem. Umbrella's strength in developing pharmaceuticals is still worth acknowledging."

As he spoke, Lear slowly turned toward Ada. The gun in his hand, though held low, was clearly aid—intentionally or not—in her direction.

Ada raised an eyebrow and said in a calm tone, "What, Officer Lear wants to stop ?"

"Not at all, Miss Ada. I just want one G-Virus and a vaccine."

Lear forced a light smile, but his eyes remained fixed on Ada.

Ada wasn't surprised by his answer.

"I figured as much, Officer Lear. You convinced Annette from the start for this very mont, didn't you? Let take the bla while you get a share of the benefits?"

Ada lowered her handgun and studied Lear with interest, as if confident he wouldn't try to take it by force.

"Seems like you're not as... righteous as you pretend to be?"

Ada slowly walked over to Lear and took two vials out of the case, handing them to him.

"Can I ask who your employer is?"

Lear took the vials. The blue and green liquids glinted with an eerie sheen before him.

"I have no employer. What if I said I need these for myself?"

Lear walked past Ada and headed into the P-4 Lab, where the remaining cold storage boxes were.

"I believe you, Officer Lear. I'm sure we'll have chances to work together again."

Hearing his answer, Ada broke into a smile, one full of shrewdness and calculation.

Then she turned and walked out, intending to leave imdiately.

Now that her objective was achieved, it was clear Ada had no intention of taking the underground train with the others.

Just as she was about to leave the West Laboratory, an inhuman roar ca from the Central Elevator shaft.

A four-ard monster leaped down from the do, crashing to the ground in front of Ada.

By then, Lear had already found the cold storage box and secured the virus. Hearing the commotion, he rushed out quickly.

"William!"

The mont Lear saw the monster, he couldn't help but frown.

William—if he could still be called that—had completely lost his human form. A monster's head had grown from his back. His two arms had beco four, all turning into clawed limbs. Countless sphere-like bodies resembling eyes sprouted all over his body.

"What the hell? G3?"

Lear cursed under his breath. Compared to G5, he hated G3 and G4 the most—G3 especially.

Because this wasn't a ga. At the G3 stage, William's speed and strength reached a perfect balance. Unlike the earlier G1 or G2 stages, he wasn't too fragile. And unlike G5, he wasn't sluggish.

Originally, Lear's plan was to use Annette's authorization to grab the virus and get out quickly. Before leaving, he'd activate NEST's self-destruct protocol, destroying both William and NEST together.

He just hadn't expected William to track them down this fast without Sherry being present.

Lear and Ada exchanged a glance. Without any wasted words, they launched their attack before William could even steady himself.

Ada used her Grapple Gun to catch onto the steel beams of the do, vaulting behind William. She began to circle him with her agility and the grapple.

While Ada kept his attention occupied, Lear imdiately started firing at the eyes growing on William's body.

Whenever William tried to turn back toward Lear, Ada would wrap her Grapple Gun around his body from behind, restricting his movents.

For a mont, William actually found himself at a disadvantage.
