After Elena entered the adventurer guild she saw that the guild was busier than usual. The adventurers were also in a tense mood and the light-heartedness was not present among them. No one was drinking at the bar which was proof that the situation was not normal.

As soon as the young guild receptionist saw Elena her tensed face lit up with a smile. Then she ran up to her and told her that the guild master was wanting to et with her in his office. Elena had no reason to reject this audience with the guild master and she went with the girl toward the head office of this branch of the adventurer guild.

After entering the room that was the guild master's office, Elena saw that Herald was busy with a mountain of paperwork. It was an amusing sight to see the guild master who was actually loaded with muscles to work furiously with a pen. It looked like he was having more trouble handling the paperwork in front of him than he ever had troubles with monsters in his life as an adventurer.

Seeing Elena he decided to take a short break from all these headache-inducing paperwork and to talk to Elena at the sa ti. So he poured a cup of tea for both himself and Elena and started the conversation.

"Miss Elena, do you know about the current situation ?"

Hearing the question, she nodded her head and replied -

"I was having a conversation with mister Cabazit when he was inford about the news. Then he kindly also explained it to who was an outsider and had no idea about it."

"Oh, that makes it easier. Then I know it might be presumptuous of but I have a request for miss Elena. I know that the compensation for a S ranker is very high but I also have so saved assets. So I'm hoping that it will be enough for Miss to work."

"If you want to subdue the monster called disaster, then you do not need to pay anything extra. Just put a bounty on its head as a regular top grade B rank monster and give that request to as a designated request. Then I will kill it and you just need to pay the regular subjugation amount of a B rank monster."

"I'm very grateful for miss Elena's compassion but my request is sothing else. I don't want Miss to interfere with the normal battle with that monster. If you want, you can participate as a B ranker but I don't want Miss to kill the monster at that ti and allow it to run away. Then I want to request Miss to find and kill this monster after it ran away."

"Hmm, that's interesting. Are you willing to tell the reason behind that roundabout thod ?"

Hearing Elena's question he smiled in a self deprecating way and said -

"I have nothing to hide and what I have in mind is sothing that I deduced on my own without any proof. So I have no problem telling everything to Miss Elena."

Anticipating that Herald was going to tell her an interesting story Elena paid extra attention to him. In front of a curious Elena, Herald began to tell Elena about his suspicions.

The three cities which were targeted by the monster called Disaster had a very good relationship between one other. All three of the cities were not too far away from each other and were able to do business with one another with relative ease. For this reason, these three cities were growing at an exponential rate.

Most of the monsters between these three cities were eliminated by powerful adventurers of that ti. That was the most proposer ti for this city and Herald had thought that there was a bright future waiting for these three cities in the future.

But then suddenly this monster called Disaster appeared. When it appeared for the first ti, it was able to deal a major blow to all three of the cities by killing several of their B rank adventurers. And when it left after killing them, several new monsters who were not local to the area and repopulated the area between the three cities.

So this way, all the advantages that the cities were managed to get with the hard work of its adventurers were lost imdiately. After that ti, this monster regularly attacked the three cities after a certain amount of ti and constantly chipped away in their strength and foundation.

In the last fifty years after the disaster had appeared for the first ti, those three cities were not able to make any significant progress because of this reason. This was very unnatural and Herald was able to feel that.

So he had been researching this for quite so ti and was able to discover so minor clues that were pointing at the involvent of so third party in this matter. Herald even had so people in mind who were pri suspects for this case.

There was a larger city a few hundred kilotres away from these three cities. That city was not only bigger with more population, their overall power was also higher. There were even a few A rankers present there.

That city had been trying to get Astatos and its two neighbours to join it as substitute cities. But for obvious reasons the three cities were unwilling to accept their proposal. The A rankers of that city were unwilling to attack a weaker city for no reason, so that bigger city had even tried to use force and quite a few B rank individuals to subjugate them. But the three cities ca together in order to prevent and were actually successful.

That was the reason why that big city had a grudge against these three friendly cities. And because of the slight clues, Herald was suspecting that the big city was sohow controlling this monster to grind down the city's state and was playing a long ga.

That was the reason why Herald was wanting Elena to find out the truth behind this situation and to get rid of this disaster without alarming their enemies. That was the reason why Herald asked Elena to take care of the monster not in the light but in the dark.

After listening to the whole story Elena was quite interested to find out more about it. So she decided to accept Herald's request. But she rejected the extra pay and just asked for enough money needed for the investigation mission for an A rank monster. As the Disaster was actually at the peak of B rank there was a high chance that an A ranker would be involved in it. That was the reason for Elena's price.

Just like that now Elena had a new special mission to complete.
