'I wonder how Demin was going to take this information.' Dunn pondered to himself.
The information was too juicy to be kept alone. He wants to relay this to Demin sohow.
"Old man!" a voice called out for him.
Dunn's attention returned. He sees Han is looking at him. "What are you thinking with a serious expression?"
"W-What?" Dunn touched his face.
"Yeah," Han nods. "It's like you're one step away from entering a battlefield. So ferocious. I feel chill running down my spine looking at your face."
"Is that so? Sorry if I'm scared you." While he did participate in several wars when he was young, Dunn doesn't know he still had it in him.
"It's okay. So what'd you say? Shall we go grab a drink at the local tavern?"
Oldman Dunn pursed his lips and shook his head, "Maybe next ti. I still had work left to do."
"That's a sha," Han clicked his tongue. "Call whenever you are free later."
"I will," Dunn replied with a nod.
With a final wave, Dunn took his leave and departed from Johann's mansion.
The gravel path crunched softly beneath his shoes.
His steps take him further and further away.
As he walked, the old man's gaze seed to drift from the real world.
He looks absent-minded, ruminating about his next action— how to relay this information to Demin's side.
The straightforward thod was to approach the staff there and spread it as a rumour, then hope for Demin to catch it. However, he had used this thod before.
Furthermore, the story about Adam was only known to a few people. It doesn't make sense for it to be leaked.
Instead, Demin might be thinking it is a trap set by Johann which is the complete opposite of the reaction Dunn was hoping for.
"Do I have no choice but to sneak in?" Dunn helplessly said.
Although it is not impossible for him, he is aware of the inevitable deterioration in his physical strength. He was already an old man.
'To sneak or not to sneak?' The internal debate is ongoing in his mind.
Since he couldn't decide whether or not to take such action yet, Dunn shoved the concern in the back of his mind.
For now, he has arrived at the threshold of the main mansion where he was supposedly working.
Oldman Dunn doesn't show a bit of worry about skipping his work or the possibility of being scolded by the butler.
Knowing how many workers from other mansions wish to escape their hellish workplace, Dunn fully made use of the fact he was working at the main mansion as leverage.
He offered to trade places with one of them for a day. He was supposed to work in their place but the old man didn't do that.
While they foolishly get the job done for him, the old man uses that opportunity to roam around and do whatever he pleases.
It was them who would get scolded if their superior noticed their absence.
His reputation may take a hit for not doing his part of the deal but it's not like he cares about that. Many would get in line to make a deal with him.
The world has no shortage of foolish people.
"Oi, Dunn! Where in the world have you gone?" the coworker greeted him the mont Dunn stepped further into the garden.
"What's wrong? Did sothing happen?" Dunn answered the question with his own.
A subtle frown forms on his face.
"Yeah, sothing happened. You're gone for several days and so random gardener shows up on our turf, saying they'll replace you. Every day, a new face is shown. I thought you quit the job."
It is a common occurrence for low-ranked servants like them to quit. After all, not everyone has the ntal and physical strength to face the nobles and their crazy antics.
To hold for more than a year is an impressive achievent on its own.
Sigh~
Dunn sighed in relief.
"Oh! Here I thought so serious stuff happened when I was gone. I didn't quit. I exchange places with them for a day. Do not worry too much."
"What the—" The coworker's eyes widened. "You need permission to do that! If our superior knows about this, they'll truly remove you from the main mansion and assign you elsewhere."
"If that happens, I'll quit." Dunn calmly replied with a tinge of seriousness in his voice.
It wasn't as if being a gardener was his dream job. The pay wasn't particularly high either.
Moreover, the nature of his job doesn't allow him to get attached to people.
He, being a gardener was just a cover, a ans to an end. The job provided him with the proximity and access he needed.
Of course, Dunn rely states that as a figure of speech.
The old man can't quit until he achieves satisfactory progress on his mission. One that is significant enough for the headquarters to call him back.
Well, that's that.
His coworker, on the other hand, appears to take his words seriously. "Are you serious, Dunn? Have you reached a breaking point?"
"What?! Of course not! I'm not one to quit so easily."
"I don't know whether you're putting a tough front or not, but if you had any trouble, tell . I'll help you the best I can." his coworker said with eyes of concern.
Dunn chuckled lightly, "You're a good guy. It's rare to see soone like you in a cut-throat place like here. Everybody, especially the young ones, hunger for nobles' attention to gain a favour."
"Don't compare with the dumb youngsters. I'm your friend and senior."
Hearing those words, Oldman Dunn smiles...eerily. The wrinkles on his face increase the effect. "Alright, my kind friend and senior. Can you lend so help?"
"W-What kinda help?" The coworker still asked even though he was slightly taken aback by Dunn's creepy smile.
"I will take a leave tomorrow. If soone asks, please cover ."
