Creak-

The eastern gates slowly opened. The hinges move carefully to avoid making any loud sounds.

The defenders keep their movents quiet, fully aware that even the slightest noise could alert the enemy.

Under the shine of the moonlight, a group of horsen led by Sarika glided out of the estate.

Their number was approximately five hundred. It was a pitifully small force compared to the seven or eight thousand soldiers who were currently besieging them.

Moreover, not all horses they rode were legitimate warhorses. Most were horses raised for the leisure and hobbies of nobles, unsuited for the rigours of battle.

Nevertheless, Sarika and the soldiers she led had to make do with what they had.

As they moved out, the estate's building shadowed them, offering a brief mont of concealnt.

The soldiers kept their movents fluid and silent, avoiding any sudden jerks or loud sounds that could give away their position.

They didn't waste ti and directly rushed to the closest encampnt.

"Snatch so torches and light up this camp," Sarika ordered.

As the soldiers were briefed before, they seamlessly split into various directions.

So moved to ignite the tents and supplies, while others sought to create as much disorder as possible.

Flas began to lick the tents, and shouts of alarm filled the air.

Amidst all that, Sarika led a small group of her most trusted soldiers to what appeared to be the commander's tent.

She knew that taking out the leader would further disrupt the rcenaries and delay their response.

"Surprise!" Sarika shouted as she burst into the tent while on her horse.

The tent's flaps flew open, and the light from the growing fires outside cast an eerie glow inside.

The rcenary leader was startled by the sudden intrusion and looked up in shock.

He did not expect such a bold move from the enemy.

Before the siege, Johann had assured him that the duke's forces were vastly outnumbered and would remain defensive.

Putting aside his confusion, the man knew that he had to react.

He scrambled to draw his weapon, but Sarika had no intention of giving him a chance to respond.

Without hesitation, she swung her sword downwards.

The blade sliced the air, aiming for the rcenary leader's head.

The leader, however, managed to raise his arm in defence before the sword reached his head.

Sarika's attack was deflected. But it doesn't change the fact that the swing from her was heavy and full of killing intent.

Although she failed to instantly kill her enemy, her sword still cut deep into his shoulder and chest.

The rcenary leader fell back. Blood spurting from his wound.

"Tsk!"

Sarika was dissatisfied with her failure. She dismounted swiftly and finished him off with a precise thrust to the heart.

The leader's body slumped to the ground, lifeless.

She turned to her soldiers, who had already begun ransacking the tent for anything useful.

"Burn it all," she commanded. "Leave nothing behind."

The soldiers complied with her instruction. The tent was set on fire.

Sarika mounted her horse again and surveyed the chaos around her.

The flas were spreading, and the rcenaries were in disarray.

She was pleased to see her plan unfold exactly as she hoped. The attack had the impact she wanted.

"We had done enough. Leave the rest to the duke and his n. Let's move to the next camp!"

She needs to spread the chaos and prevent the enemy from reorganizing.

Her soldiers regrouped and moved out, continuing their assault on one encampnt after another. Each attack gives maximum chaos and damage to the enemy.

Thanks to her attack, the night becos brighter due to the amount of burning fire.

....

"Chaos has ensued. This is our opportunity," Percival spoke as havoc swept through the enemies.

Sarika and her soldiers were not the only ones widely awake at this midnight.

None of Percival's soldiers were asleep. They have been vigilantly watching the situation beyond the gates, waiting for their chance to strike.

Percival, despite his reservations, had decided to participate in his daughter's absurd plan.

As a father, he can't possibly be sleeping comfortably while knowing his daughter was charging toward the enemy with the odds stacked against her.

When the fire spread and the night brightened to a certain extent, Percival was aware of the long-awaited opportunity.

He issued a command to his troops. "Attack! Aim for the ones close to the gate!"

The defenders who had been waiting for the cue from the duke sprang into action, launching their assault.

On the other hand, the enemy, who was already in a state of panic from Sarika's unexpected assault, now had to welco another wave of attack.

This attack, however, ca mainly in the form of a relentless rain of arrows.

Compared to the organized offensive during the day, the current state of the enemy made them easy to deal with.

The chaos sowed by Sarika's initial strike had left them disoriented and vulnerable.

Without commanders to lead them, they struggled to mount an effective defence and even forgot to properly equip themselves with armour or shields.

Many were caught unprepared, being shot the mont they stepped into the open.

"Your Grace, I think we should take this advantage to launch an all-out attack," his subordinate said with excitent.

"No!" Percival rejected the suggestion.

The number of his troops is already scarce from the beginning.

He doesn't want to take another high-risk move and prefers to conserve troops, knowing this fight might last for a few more days.

"But Your Grace, we are seeing success right now. We could break their siege completely."

"Don't be fooled by our current success. We may have killed many of their n, but keep in mind... They outnumber us several folds. If the situation turns in their favour, a full-scale attack we launch would leave the estate vulnerable."

"But, Lady Sarika-"

"Don't worry about her. Her aim was not the enemy but the three idiots who caused all of this."
