The apartnt block consisted of a long corridor with many separate rooms, left over from the seventies and eighties, looking quite old and worn. Only staff lived here. Seeing no one answered her knock, Chen Xiaoqian walked to the neighbor’s door, planning to jump over to the teacher’s house from the connected balcony.

There must have been soone at ho; they just didn’t hear her knock.

Xiaoqian knocked twice, but still no one answered. The music was thunderously loud.

Suddenly, soone tapped Xiaoqian on the shoulder from behind. She turned and saw Mr. Liu standing behind her.

"Are you looking for Mr. Wang?" Mr. Liu asked. Mr. Wang lived next door.

"No, I’m here for you," Xiaoqian shouted. She had to raise her voice because the music was so loud.

Liu Linlin motioned for Xiaoqian to follow her. She unlocked the door. Inside was a big guy, shirtless, wearing long johns and barefoot, dancing to the beat from the speakers with impressive street dance moves. He had striking features, with heavy eyebrows and big eyes, but there was a roguish charm about him that wasn’t off-putting.

At this ti, street dance wasn’t wildly popular yet. Anyone who could dance like this was certainly ahead of fashion.

"Liu Li! How many tis have I told you not to blast the music so loud at ho?" Mr. Liu walked over and turned off the speakers.

Liu Li was likely Mr. Liu’s second son.

"Mom, there’s no one anyway. I just wanted to dance for a bit. Spring feels great; I feel like I have endless energy!"

"I sotis wonder if you have mania," Mr. Liu complained.

Xiaoqian burst into laughter. See? Her teacher’s thoughts were just like hers. She had just joked that freshn in spring seed manic, and her teacher was also suspecting her own son of mania.

Liu Li stretched his body and was startled to see the unfamiliar girl standing behind his mom.

He didn’t expect anyone else at ho and quickly dashed into the bedroom, closing the door firmly.

Xiaoqian noticed a French press on the coffee table in the living room, with a coffee cup still half full, exuding a strong aroma.

"This kid has a lot of energy," Xiaoqian said to Mr. Liu.

"A bit too much energy, especially restless," Mr. Liu motioned for Xiaoqian to sit on the sofa and wait while she put the groceries she bought into the kitchen. She had just been to the morning market.

Soon, Mr. Liu ca out of the kitchen and knocked on the bedroom door, "Liu Li, how much coffee did you drink? I’ve noticed half a bag of coffee beans is gone."

The door opened, and Liu Li, now dressed, ca out wearing ripped jeans and a large bomber jacket, a trendy Korean-style outfit. His head was wrapped with a bandana, clearly a street dance youth.

"I have a competition today, couldn’t sleep, so I drank so coffee to perk up."

"You didn’t sleep at all?!" Mr. Liu exclaid in surprise.

Liu Li, full of energy, waved his hand dismissively, "Sleeping is a waste of life. Our beautiful youth shouldn’t be spent in dreams. Mom, I’m off~"

"You’re not having breakfast?" Mr. Liu called out, but the guy was already at the door.

"I’ll grab sothing quick!"

"You better return to work after the competition, no ssing around!"

Liu Li was out of sight, and Mr. Liu sighed, turning to see Xiaoqian looking at her curiously.

"My son is a bit of a slacker. He didn’t pass the college entrance exam and refuses to retake it. The higher-ups arranged a job for him, in consideration of being a martyr’s family, but he often takes leave. I suspect he might have a mild form of mania—anything you needed from ?"

Xiaoqian curbed her curiosity about Liu Li and briefly explained her intention to Mr. Liu.

"I want to apply for an early course credit, and I’d like you to communicate with my class advisor."

"Early? Why?" Mr. Liu frowned.

"I don’t want to waste ti. I’ve completed most courses and want to finish university credits early, then continue further studies."

"With your level, early credit completion shouldn’t be an issue. Just talk to your class advisor about this. Why find ?"

Though just a freshman, Chen Xiaoqian was a rising star in her program. Mr. Liu had interacted with her several tis and felt that Xiaoqian was indeed exceptionally talented. Allowing such a student to earn credits early shouldn’t pose a problem.

"Because I want to finish two years ahead."

"What?" Mr. Liu thought he misheard.

"I’ve calculated it. I can finish university credits two years earlier, maximize efficiency, and then decide whether to take two years for a master’s; deciding on Ph.D. later."

"You must think highly of yourself. Rushing like this, what do you consider our school?"

Liu Linlin’s comnt was particularly blunt. Xiaoqian not only wanted to condense her college ti, but even the master’s degree by a year ahead, which to her, seed overly ambitious.

"You go back; I won’t help you with this. Moreover, I’m not your ntor, not obliged to do this. Even if your granny ca, it wouldn’t work."

Xiaoqian wasn’t surprised by her refusal. If the teacher hadn’t refused, that would have been odd. This was an eccentric old lady who acted solely based on mood; her sudden visit might make the teacher think she was an unstable child.

Liu Linlin stood up and pointed to the door, signaling it was ti to leave. Xiaoqian knew well her teacher’s temper. Going head-to-head with this old lady would bring no good.

Xiaoqian also stood up, but instead of hurrying out, she opened her bag.

"What are you doing!!" Liu Linlin’s voice was full of anger. She thought Xiaoqian was going to slip her money.

Previously, she had a good impression of this girl. Nowadays, few young people had such a lively spirit, and she believed Xiaoqian’s talent was enough to make her an excellent psychologist.

But if she dared to bribe a teacher, it was a different matter.

Seeing her anger, Xiaoqian wasn’t afraid, and she blinked, "Teacher, what are you thinking? I’m just an ordinary girl. Even if I wanted to play those hidden rules, I’d need capital, besides, I wouldn’t waste money like that..."

She took out a file folder filled with thick manuscript paper.

"This is my paper for my major course. Please take a look if you have ti. If you don’t think it qualifies to take on a two-year credit advance, I can write more."

Xiaoqian almost said, "Teacher, those tasks you’re holding, I could help you write those too." For her, doing this was like doing howork for elentary students.

"Do you think copying sothing random from the library would bluff your way through?" Mr. Liu took it, casually flipping through a few pages, instantly hooked.
