The following day, Ember Sunburn, the chairwoman of Sun Films and Sun News Television, sat in her office, browsing through the pile of reports on her desk.

Being the chairwoman was truly hectic, more so when she wished to involve herself in every decision rather than delegating the work to her subordinates.

She made most of the major decisions herself, leaving the employees and executives solely responsible for carrying out her orders.

Currently, she was searching for a drama to invest in among the ones that were pitched to Sun Films. They still didn’t have a major headliner drama to air in the sumr season. After losing to AxisPlay this spring, she was more competitive and cautious about which drama to select.

She had wanted to invest in Symphony of Shadows, recognizing the potential in its script and its pull to the audience, but she had lost it to Phoenix.

Even now, Symphony of Shadows was trending on the internet thanks to Aren Frost’s replacent news.

She couldn’t help but grow frustrated whenever she thought about losing to Phoenix. Phoenix was the only rival platform she couldn’t accept losing to.

The reason was simple—its chairwoman.

The chairwoman of Phoenix, Scarlet Ashborn, was her sworn rival. With a similar background, upbringing, age, and everything, they couldn’t help but grow to compete with each other.

They both were twenty-six this year, and still, their rivalry was like children’s.

Even Ember taking charge of Sun Films was due to Scarlet. Once she found out Scarlet was given the charge of Phoenix and other streaming networks, she begged her grandfather, the chairman of Sun Group, to let her beco the chairwoman of Sun Films.

It had already been four years since then, and now she had a trendous amount of experience in managing everything by herself.

However, right now, she felt overwheld. She knew she was far behind Scarlet with no major drama in production.

There were smaller dramas being produced by them; however, Ember could discern that they wouldn’t be able to attract the attention of the audience to a significant level.

After all, only one drama would air in the pri slot of the platform, and the others would just fill the remaining slots.

For her flagship drama, she needed sothing that could allow her to defeat Symphony of Shadows; however, with Ryan Black and Luna Veil joining the cast, it seed rather difficult.

At this mont, her secretary knocked on the door. Ember permitted her to enter without even raising her head.

Her secretary took a few steps inside before reporting with a bow, "Ms. Linda Thorn is here to et you. There is Aren Frost accompanying her."

Aren didn’t bring Lisa along since there was nothing for her to do by attending the eting.

"Aren Frost?" Ember frowned as she murmured, "Why has Linda brought him?"

After a short while, she looked at her secretary and, with a bit of irritation on her face, said, "Whatever, bring them inside."

Ember had received a call from Linda, requesting a eting. Ember had agreed right away, thinking that Linda wished to return to her job.

After Ember had taken charge, she had personally looked through the talented employees who were greatly contributing to the growth of the networks and platform under the Sun group.

At that ti, she had noticed Linda and her worth. She had gone to et her personally and handed her her personal number, allowing her to call her whenever she felt like reporting sothing or needed so help.

After she heard Linda had quit, she had felt a pang of loss inside her heart. Linda was the star anchor and the face of Sun News; however, it was also true that she was replaceable. There was no shortage of talented reporters in the network.

Thus, Ember didn’t actively reach out to Linda to bring her back; however, she also wouldn’t let the chance to bring her back get out of her hands.

Since Linda reached out to her for a eting, she felt the need to accept. Getting Linda back was a gain to her, after all.

But Linda never got the chance to ntion Aren, and thus, Ember was confused by his presence.

Soon, her secretary was back as she opened the door and instructed Linda and Aren to go inside.

Linda entered first, Aren trailing behind her.

As soon as Ember saw Linda, she smiled and nodded at her, a silent welco from her side.

She ignored Aren, who entered afterwards.

Her office wasn’t luxurious, resembling a principal’s office rather than a wealthy heiress’ workplace.

A long, wide wooden mahogany worktable, a comfortable dark chair for her to sit on, and in front of her were two velvet chairs for her visitors.

Other than that, nothing was particularly eye-catching.

After Linda and Aren crossed the silk rug under their feet to reach the chairs, Linda bowed slightly with a polite smile,

"Ms. Ember."

Linda’s voice was steady, devoid of any nervousness.

"Please," Ember said, gesturing vaguely toward the velvet armchair opposite her.

Linda gave a polite nod and settled in the right chair; anwhile, Aren sat in the left one.

Ember looked at him briefly with an irritated expression. He hadn’t greeted her, and neither had she allowed him to sit.

She wanted to reprimand him loudly; however, she decided against it, honoring Linda, the one who had brought him along.

She ignored him and focused on Linda instead.

"Linda." She said, wearing a polite smile on her face, "It’s been more than a year since we last saw each other. How are you?"

"I’m fine, Miss," Linda answered, her hands resting on her lap. "I’m just sad that after getting sexually assaulted by Lucian Valcourt, I couldn’t bring him to justice."

She looked down at the floor, the room turning silent for a short mont.

"Linda." Ember’s voice tore through that silence like paper as her gaze turned sharp. "The past will not change; let’s talk about the future instead."

"Tell ," she asked, "would you like to return to your job?"

Linda remained silent for a few monts and then shook her head.

She didn’t want to return without her dignity. If she couldn’t have her dignity, it would be better to just join any other news network.

Moreover, there was Birak acting as her superior. That bald bastard would surely boss her around to vent his frustration.

Ember gave a silent nod of understanding, "Alright then. Since you don’t want to return to your job, let’s end this eting.

She lowered her head, focusing on the scattered scripts as she muttered, "I’m quite busy, so see yourself out."

"Wait, Miss." Linda spoke up in a hurry: "I want to offer you a deal."

Ember didn’t even spare her a glance as she resud browsing through the drama scripts.

"Not interested." She muttered indifferently, "Leave."

At this mont, Aren’s mocking voice entered her ears.

"Let’s go, Linda," Aren said. "It’s obvious she isn’t smart enough to recognize an opportunity."

Ember was irritated; however, she maintained the facade of being unaffected.

Then, she heard Aren continue.

"I told you we should go to Phoenix. Everyone knows Miss. Scarlet recognizes a good deal right away." Aren glanced at Ember and scoffed, "Not like her, who wouldn’t even listen to our offer."

Hearing the ntion of Scarlet, Ember grew anxious and attentive.

"Let’s go," Aren said, standing up as he pulled Linda’s wrist. "I’ve already asked the director of Symphony of Shadows to arrange a eting with Miss Scarlet."

Ember, who had been pretending to be looking at the drama scripts, couldn’t hold back anymore as she raised her head and yelled, "Wait! Let’s talk."

’Got you.’ Aren smirked internally.
