"Man is the spirit of all things, and gu are the refined fragnts of the Great Dao.
The ambition which blooms with the spring's morning breeze withers at the call of autumn's night.
Night-black hair in sumr's light turns snow-white at winter's sight,
The accumulation of five hundred years - triumphs and failures - will be naught but ash with dawn's first light.
The rising of the sun bathes the mountains in golden fla, but 'tis sunset upon the demon's ti,
The road to eternal life - filled with thorns and tribulations, unyielding winds and solitude,
The journey of five hundred years ends in the blink of an eye, yet,
The heart of a demon has no regret even in death."
"Quick- hand over the Spring Autumn Cicada!"
"Oh demon, your wicked sins are too nurous to count. Relinquish the fruit of your ill-gotten efforts, and I will bestow the rcy of a quick death upon thee!"
"Watch out, he's finally moving!"
"Stay back, the demon's counterattacking!"
Fang Yuan laughed in their faces as he decided it was ti to gamble it all. "If the Spring Autumn Cicada truly works, I will be an even greater demon in my next life!"
Blood alone greases the wheels of history- and the wheel of ti is never-ending, churning ever forward, crushing those who stand in its path with reckless abandon.
And yet, here Fang Yuan's soul was, going not forward, but defying heaven itself as he soared through the stream of the River of Ti backwards, back, until he found himself in a familiar room.
"This is..." he muttered. Gu Yue village?
The last thing he rembered was being surrounded by his enemies. He had slaughtered twenty million people in order to refine the Spring Autumn Cicada, alas, just as he was savoring his victory, he was cornered and had no choice but to use that gu worm.
It was rumored to be able to take one back, traveling upstream the river of ti rather than the normal sequence of events. The price for this was massive- it demanded everything. One's body would detonate, their gu worms and cultivation destroyed as their will would be transported alongside the Spring Autumn Cicada back to the past.
Of course, that was what was rumored. No one could confirm this fact, and it was said that there was always a chance of failure while using the cicada. Given this, who would dare use it?
And yet, with no choice, enemies all around him, he had had no choice but to detonate it.
"Thankfully it worked or else-" Fang Yuan was about to say when sothing interrupted his vision.
It was not correct to say that he 'saw' it with his vision, more that he saw it in his mind's eye.
Congratulations on awakening the Goody Two-Shoes System!
Fang Yuan was calm as he analyzed this. Was this a side effect of using the Spring Autumn Cicada? It wasn't like he had any person he could ask regarding this.

Fang Yuan frowned. He had encountered many things during his five hundred year's of existence, though nothing of this exact sort. It almost seed like the inheritance or the land spirit of a blessed land, though he had never encountered sothing like this within his head though.
Unless this was the will of soone who had entered his mind while he had traveled alongside the Spring Autumn Cicada- though he strangely enough could feel very little 'thought' from it, nor could his own mind grasp onto the will.
As it was right now he lacked the wisdom path thods necessary in order to detect sothing like that, let alone deal with it.
The first thing, the 'daily quest' caught his eye.
Do five pushups? That seed simple enough.
As it was, the worst that could happen if he was wrong was that he'd look slightly silly.
"Brother..." as Fang Yuan was in the middle of this impromptu workout, a carbon copy of himself walked in. His younger brother- Fang Zheng.
Ah, Fang Yuan thought as mories poured back in. During this ti, Fang Zheng was treated poorly by their adoptive parents- their aunt and uncle. In order to sowhat lessen the harshness of their treatnt, Fang Yuan had revealed so of the poems he had learned back on Earth, gaining their admiration as a 'genius.'
Of course, this was all based on his prior knowledge. It was not genuine genius, and on the awakening ceremony, it was found out that Fang Yuan was a re C-grade talent.
In this world, when it ca to cultivation, talent was everything. It determined how far you could go as a Gu master- granted, one with a huge pile of resources could overco even the worst lack of talent, but in their remote village one would not find anything that could greatly overco the gap between talents.
Because he had been a C-grade talent, average at best, it ant that Fang Yuan had taken ten years to reach Rank Two in his prior life, and it was only thanks to a fortuitous encounter that he had managed to reach Rank Three a hundred years into life before he had regressed.
In contrast, his younger brother had turned out to be an A-grade talent, aning that he was able to soar past boundaries that Fang Yuan was unable to. Suddenly, Fang Zheng was showered with praise and resources, and quickly forgot all about his elder brother.
Fang Zheng knew nothing of all of this, however, and still thought of Fang Yuan as the budding rising star of the clan.
He had been a bit nervous, and noted that his elder brother's door was ajar. He had gone to check up on Fang Yuan, only to see him doing push-ups on the floor.
"Is sothing wrong? Um... shouldn't you be sleeping?" Fang Zheng asked. It was a bit of an odd sight, soone working out like that so late at night. Was he also having trouble sleeping?
Once Fang Yuan was done, he got up, and simply said, "Nothing. I'm fine, you should go to sleep too."
The cold reply stung Fang Zheng's heart, but this was how his brother had always been. He simply nodded and retreated into the shadows.
Fang Yuan saw a notification pop up.
