Now reading: Chapter 446: Dream Realm Emotional Compass: Part Four from Reverend Insanity: The Goody Two-Shoes System, a Action novel by Drechenaux.

'How strange. I would never have initially guessed that the objective was to lose the race,' Fang Yuan thought to himself. But why was that? Why was the goal to lose?

Clearing the first stage had raised his attainnt in the Blood Path sowhat, though not to a qualitative extent. To his shock, though, losing the race and clearing the second part of the dream realm did not give him any further Blood Path attainnt. Instead, Fang Yuan found his Luck Path attainnt had reached quasi-Master level.

This was very strange.

Fang Yuan had assud that he had stumbled into the dream realm of the legendary Blood Sea Ancestor, given the first stage of the dream realm had occurred where he had found the inheritance later on in life. He had assud that the person in question had decided to later on make it an inheritance ground after passing through their Heavenly Tribulation there and having completed a milestone such as successfully creating the Blood Chariot. Many people set up inheritance grounds in places that had deep aning to them; so it was not that difficult to reach that conclusion.

But he had never heard of the Blood Sea Ancestor being proficient in the Luck Path. Not that there was much to know about the Blood Sea Ancestor in the first place. He had caused terror throughout the Five Regions and Two Heavens before being slain at Rank 7 and leaving behind several inheritances. He was the inventor of the Blood Path and so was reviled by most righteous path cultivators.

As for the Luck Path, it was a niche path which was known to be the main domain of Giant Sun Immortal Venerable. Very few people had any sort of knowledge about it since the Venerable had kept it as a closely-guarded secret. Fang Yuan, as such, had very little ideas regarding the path, despite the system earlier having given him so boost to his luck. He had had no way to confirm whether this was true or not at the ti.

With his new attainnt level, though, he felt that there were ways that he could try and asure his own luck now.

Moreover, he felt like he had gotten an understanding of the second part of the dream realm and why its criteria for completing it were so backwards.

The person that Fang Yuan was playing as, whom he was now less sure was truly the Blood Sea Ancestor but hadn't completely ruled the possibility out, had a large amount of luck.

And so regardless of whether he had chosen horse number 1 or horse number 4, his luck had interacted with the horse in order to ensure its victory. Both of those horses were very powerful racers and were almost equally likely to win. It was Fang Yuan betting upon them that had led to a changed outco and his choice winning each ti. This was how luck could interact with the world and influence outcos. His decision on who to bet tipped the scales in that horse's favor.

But if he bet on horse number 2 which had terrible odds, although his luck had helped it in a way given that it didn't crash when he bet on it and only stumbled, it still ended up losing. Just not losing as badly as it would've done otherwise. So luck could influence events to a great degree, but there was a limit to its effect as well.

This was easy enough to understand.

But then why aim for a defeat in the first place?

Fang Yuan did not fully understand this, but he had a theory, naly that by ensuring his loss, the man had increased his luck in so way. Sadly, a quasi‑Master attainnt in the Luck Path was not enough for Fang Yuan to be able to confirm how this might be possible. There could also be other explanations, such as the man being paid to throw the race or just wanting to support horse number 2 for whatever reason.

More importantly, he now saw a huge flaw with Dream Realm Emotional Compass. It had given Fang Yuan the answer that he thought he had to get in the dream realm, which was to pick the winning horse. But that wasn't what the solution actually was; but rather what he thought he had to do in order to get the solution - the reason why he ended up failing twice. In this way, Dream Realm Emotional Compass was massively inferior to Unravel Dream.

This was a large flaw in its effect, one that Fang Yuan would have to rectify. This was why testing killer moves was so important.

The dream realm was not over, however.

Fang Yuan now found that he had Rank 7 cultivation and that his body was in a poor state.

"Get him!" voices yelled out.

Fang Yuan was being pursued by over a dozen other Gu Immortals.

'Yes, this is far closer to how a Blood Path cultivator is treated in this world,' Fang Yuan thought to himself.

Attacks rained down at him from behind. Fang Yuan glanced at the gu worms in his aperture. This might not have been the criteria for escaping from the dream realm, but Fang Yuan simply activated one of his own Blood Path movent killer moves. A trail of blood was left behind as Fang Yuan fled the scene. Several of his pursuers were thrown off by his rapid speed, as well as his change in direction, though a few of them still managed to keep tailing him.

Fang Yuan activated it once more, but its speed was limited.

"Hurry up!"

"The demon is escaping!"

"We can't let him get away!"

'In this case...' Fang Yuan thought. He had been a Blood Path cultivator before, but had lacked Blood Path Immortal Gu. He glanced at his Immortal Aperture in the dream realm. There were several Rank 6 Blood Path Gu and even two Rank 7 Gu. He needed to construct an Immortal Blood Path movent killer move - and quickly.

Fang Yuan abandoned the thought of using the Rank 7 Gu, to change a mortal killer move to Rank 6 was hard enough even with his Grandmaster attainnt. Fang Yuan focused on one of the Rank 6 gu and modified his movent killer move to incorporate it instead.

Fang Yuan spat out a mouthful of blood - his first attempt had failed. His pursuers were gaining on him...

Second attempt, also failed! Fang Yuan was now in a dire state...

Third attempt.... success! Fang Yuan's body turned into a torrent of blood that zipped through the air.

It was far from being an elegant solution as he saw that it used a large amount of mortal gu which were superfluous, but this Rank 6 killer move was able to propel him in a different direction at a speed which shad his earlier velocity. He used it twice more, and found that he had lost most of his pursuers. They were still not far off, however. And his injury was getting worse.

Fang Yuan landed and went into a tunnel underground. The righteous path forces which were tailing him seed to have paused in their search. They knew that this person was cornered, but that also ant that his final attack would be terrifying to behold.

With that said, Fang Yuan had already been struck with so kind of injury which made it very difficult for him to survive. He was unlikely to live for very long.

He activated a Blood Path killer move that might be able to heal him, but this could not fully fix the injury. It did, however, allow Fang Yuan in the dream realm to survive a lot longer than he otherwise would have, and as Fang Yuan continued going down underground for a few hours in the dream realm, he happened upon a cave filled with glowing green crystals.

Fang Yuan in the dream realm then collapsed, succumbing to his injuries.

Fang Yuan was not cast out of the dream realm like he would have expected. Instead, it ended, and he felt his Blood Path attainnt level increase massively, to the point where he was now at a Great Grandmaster level. The dream realm had been entirely consud and there was nothing further for Fang Yuan to explore.
