Rewound Chapter 10 Prepping for the apocalypse 01

I had to sit down and catch my breath. What the actual fuck, how is she so good at that? Well, I knew, but still. Her nickna in college was blowjob Vicky after all. “Did I get sent back to an alternate porno universe? This is crazy.” I muttered to myself, but was close enough for Vicky to hear what I said. “Are you fuckin’ retarded? Guess how many won want to fuck Chris Hemsworth. Did you guess most won? No fucking shit girls are throwing themselves at you dumbass. You look like a supermodel/bodybuilder/actor right now.”

She angrily wiped down with her discarded shirt as she talked. “Alright… Here’s my credit card with a fifty-thousand-dollar limit. Go get what you think we’ll need, and I’ll make so calls to have shipnts of food delivered here by the end of the day. Getting on the good side of everyone else in the community is sothing we have to care about now, and breaking up with Jake will go a long way because a lot of the mbers didn’t like him.”

Getting everyone on board wasn’t sothing I really thought of. If anything, if they didn’t agree with my plans, I’d have just killed them, but her thod made more sense to start out. There was no reason to turn people against this early into the apocalypse. It was better to do the carrot and stick approach instead of just beating everyone to death with the stick approach.

If she had food covered, then what should I care about? Generators, crossbows, silent reusable weapons, and lee weapons. It would also benefit us if I reinforced the community walls in the future, so maybe so big chunks of tal, and I should buy as many bones as I possibly could for my bone manipulation power. Where the fuck did you buy bones though?

My first thought didn’t imdiately go to googling the solution, that wasn’t really sothing you could do in the first few years of the apocalypse. Only a few cities had access to the internet, and the normal people or people with utility powers like couldn’t use it. I was thinking about like an animal carcass or skeleton, not cooking bones, which would have worked perfectly fine for figuring out my power.

As I was headed to Walmart after rembering ‘Oh yeah, the internet.’ I got a call from my work. My boss answered with a questioning tone. “Hey… I notice you aren’t in for work. Everything okay?” What did I do with this situation? I didn’t hate my boss, I actually liked the people I worked with. Otherwise, why would I try to get higher up in the company? I decided to be honest. “I got news today that there is going to be a huge flood in three days. Leave work right now and go buy food because when they announce it tomorrow, the stores will be sold out by noon.”

He sighed like he had just heard sothing crazy. “I get it. Take the next few days off, and after you see that the world isn’t falling apart, co back to work. We need you on this case, focused and ready to work.” What was he talking about? Oh, right. It was about this ti that I was getting burnt out, he thought I lied about being in jail for trying to walk out with coffee because it didn’t have a scan code to scan.

“Hey, you might not believe it, but give everyone a heads up. I’m telling you to trust on this, soone higher up warned about it, Bill.” He sat in silence for a few seconds before responding. “Alright. I’ll tell everyone to buy food now if they need it, just if this is like Y2K, then we’re going to need to get your head checked out, buddy.”

I smirked as I agreed with him before hanging up. Just as I did so, I got another call, which I picked up after seeing it was Jake. “Yo, what you up to? Want to hang out tonight?” I was driving my moped right now, but I didn’t think he’d pick up that I wasn’t at work. “Can’t I’m really busy at the mont. Gonna be for the next few days. I’ll give you a rain check when things calm down here. Peace out.”

With that, I hung up. It might have been a little more dickish than I normally was to him but I doubt he’d even notice. Jake definitely wasn’t a genius, he got by with his good looks and charisma. That’s why I was still friends with him after all the tis he got in trouble. Well, I was friends with him. I made my way to Walmart before buying as many crossbows and bones as I could before leaving the store and putting them all in my storage when no one was looking.

I had to go back and deposit this, then store the bodies sowhere and try to get a perfect five cubic foot chunk of iron to take back. I doubted they had that for sale… Where the fuck did you buy steel ingots at? Did Walmart sell steel? What the fuck, it did. Well, I got to buy bulk tal, steel, copper, aluminum, and lead. As much as I could. Maybe look for sowhere that sells wood-burning stove tops, probably Walmart again, and I need to find a bullet reloading press and gunpowder. Vicky probably had a car or truck I could borrow, so I didn’t have to rely on my storage… Why the fuck was I doing all this?

I could probably get this all sa-day delivered if I paid enough, at the very least, I could delegate my work to multiple people. I called soone I knew wouldn’t be busy. “Yo Jas, you there? How are you busy right now for the first ti ever? Call back when you get this.” Jas was the other kid I helped protect in school, and even now, we are still friends.

I followed his career, where he went into the army after school, tried to fake being gay to get out of the army, and then admitted he was actually gay. That wasn’t sothing I suspected either, and now he did freelance jobs around the state with his dad. He would normally pick up if I tried to call him, though. As if he heard , he answered, whispering. “Sorry, I’m a little busy at the mont. What did you need?”

“Can you get so stuff for if I give you the money?” He went silent on the line before speaking again. “No… They called us back into the military for a special secret mission. We’re heading to South Arica for so reason.” I heard soone yell out. “Hey! Get off that phone soldier or I’ll fucking break it!” He quickly spoke. “I got to go, bye…” I didn’t see Jas after the storm, so I just assud he died. Turns out he went south to protect the diplomats who fled the country.

I wish I could have warned him. The south is a fucking shit show after a few years. Animals could also beco zombies, and the military didn’t account for zombie mosquitoes. From the few people who made it back north, it sounded like a hellscape with people inside bunkers getting infected because they opened up a window for a few minutes because it was too hot. We had to deal with a flood that made most of the country unlivable, but they had to deal with clouds of zombie bugs, snakes, and other jungle-type creatures. They should have just annexed xico because it is close enough without getting as fucked up as Arica did.

If a mosquito bite were enough to change people, the world would have ended. It would make people sick at first, and if enough mosquitoes bit a person, then they’d die and turn. It was the sa with zombies as well, a person who got bitten could shake off the virus… It’s that a zombie very rarely bites a person once, and most likely bit them to death. Welp… I guess it’s back to just getting this shit… Which will take most of the day. Tomorrow is when the real shitshow begins. I would need to steal a shipping container for my semi truck later to load up so animals and more construction equipnt.
