Now reading: Chapter 125: Lu Tao’s First Kill from Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse, a Sci-fi novel by FlamingHorse.

The mall the three had targeted was crowded with zombies and they had to fight their way inside.

Instead of parking the truck in the parking lot, they drove directly to the door and parked there.

The zombies roaming all around the mall heard the noise and slled the life force coming from the truck and started moving in their direction.

Leng Pan turned to her brother-in-law and asked, "Do you know how to use a gun?"

Lu Tao was surprised by her question, but seeing the zombies closing in, he rembered what her sister-in-law had told him earlier. To never be cornered inside a vehicle by zombies.

So, he knew he didn’t have ti to waste wondering why she asked that.

He imdiately replied, "Yes, I am a mber of a shooting club and my aim is pretty good."

"Okay, take this." Leng Pan replied as she lowered her body and reached under the seat, only to pull out a Glock-19.

She reached under the seat again and pulled another one out. The truth was, the seat was just a cover and those guns were pulled from the space.

Looking at the two guns offered to him, Lu Tao was so shocked that he forgot about being in a hurry to get out of the car.

Where did these guns co from? Their country had always had strict control of heat weapons, and possessing any could lead to severe punishnt unless one had a firearm license.

He could understand having a license to carry one firearm, but pulling out two simultaneously was unbelievable.

"Take the guns and get out. Aim at their heads, other places won’t stop them and would only provoke them." Lu Zhen said with an icy voice.

It was cold enough to wake Lu Tao from his absent-mindedness.

"Oh!" Lu Tao muttered and imdiately took the two guns before opening the door and getting out.

Two zombies were already a few ters away from him when he stepped onto the pavent. Seeing those disgusting things up close nearly sent him into a vomiting fit.

However, when he rembered the fate of the man who had been distracted by the sound of their truck, he didn’t dare to be careless even for a mont.

He imdiately released the safety of the guns and raised them, aiming straight at the heads of the two zombies.

Although it was his first ti killing zombies, he was aware that with the zombies this close, there was no room for error. Otherwise, as soon as he missed a shot, his arm would be gone considering the proximity of the zombies.

When he pulled the trigger, one zombie had a bullet go through their forehead, and it collapsed imdiately, while the other had its face completely blown off.

So of the zombie’s brain matter splattered onto his hand and clothes. It was the most disgusting feeling he had ever felt yet he had no ti to dwell on it because more zombies were running towards them.

Without ti to think, he focused on shooting the approaching zombies while following his brother and sister-in-law towards the inside of the mall.

Today, Leng Pan and Lu Zhen had decided to give Lu Tao ti to kill zombies and get used to it. So, instead of using their signature moves of wiping them out with fire and water mist, they were engaged in close combat.

This was their way of working out their bodies, building endurance, and gaining close combat experience. They had been combining different fighting styles recently and close combat was one of them.

This was especially so when they t slightly advanced zombies that had better coordination and their limbs weren’t as stiff as before.

They had realized that once a zombie started to mutate, their agility increased and eventually, their limbs beca as coordinated as those of normal humans.

Moreover, so of the zombies, like those who had been near the special teorite they picked up, had better agility than normal humans.

This was the scary part of the zombies. It could be judged from their experience facing zombies over the last few days that in the future, not many humans would be able to face zombies head-on.

Humans without offensive superpowers would need to find a way to survive; otherwise, there wouldn’t be a place for them on this planet.

Leng Pan and Lu Zhen were standing back-to-back with tang swords in their hands moving in coordinated sequence and chopping off arms and heads of zombies.

Lu Tao was on their side, almost sandwiched between them as he faced in the direction of the door, which had fewer zombies.

The three killed their way into the mall. The door was locked and Lu Tao had to shoot the locks off.

Just as he was about to push the door open, Leng Pan stopped him.

"Wait." That urgent voice caused him to stop in his tracks.

"Use your supervision to see if there are zombies near the door. Never push open a closed door and walk inside like you own the place.

There could be zombies waiting right inside the door and once you push it open, you die." Leng Pan cautioned as she realized that they had forgotten to warn this teenager and he almost committed a grave mistake.

Not that anything would have happened to him, as she could cover him with mist in an instant and prevent any accidents, but they couldn’t be so careless.

They had to raise his vigilance, otherwise, he would be in trouble one day if he continued to be so careless.

Lu Tao stopped his hand that had just touched the lower part of the shutter doors. He had not thought of the fact that zombies could be inside the mall.

Now that he thought about it, so people must have been shopping or working when the teorites started to fall. In that case, there should be quite a few people inside the mall.

Lu Tao stood still and used his X-ray vision to look inside. Sure enough, there were hundreds of zombies crowding the door, and others were scattered in different parts of the mall.

He concentrated on looking through each floor and found a group of survivors inside a supermarket.

They had barricaded the door and looked haggard although it was obvious they didn’t lack food or water.

They were probably psychologically and emotionally drained, making their survival more challenging.

"There are many zombies on the first floor. Especially around the door, the zombies must have slled us and heard the noise caused by our fight.

There is also a group of survivors inside the supermarket." Lu Tao gave the results of his peeking.

He now understood why he couldn’t just budge into buildings in the future. He couldn’t imagine opening the door and finding himself face-to-face with hundreds of zombies.

That was a one-way ticket to the afterlife.
