But after a couple of doses of the substances they were injected with, he could already stay invisible for three minutes.
It’s just that the researchers didn’t seem to have realized that their drug had this effect. They were still busy testing blood and other things to find ways to transfer the abilities.
Vanish found all this laughable. But he decided to endure the pain and wait. He wanted to get a few more doses of that drug. He also wanted to find out where they stored the rest of it or their source so that he could steal it and help others in the future.
For now though, when the drug was injected, he scread like everyone else and shouted about the pain and wanting to die.
Leng Pan and her husband had traveled for about a hundred miles in an hour. The motorcycles were powerful and the roads empty.
The two had ard themselves against the cold wind blowing against them as they rose and the cold that would keep into their bones if not appropriately dressed.
It was getting colder with each passing day and they knew that the extre cold that their mother had seen in a vision or sothing wasn’t far.
That was the reason they were rushing so much so that they could finish their business and head back ho before it caught on completely.
Most of the tis when they rose out to train or look for supplies, Leng Pan took the lead and Lu Zhen was happy to play second fiddle.
However, today they were entering unfamiliar territory and they didn’t know what was waiting for them beyond the end of the city that had obviously been cleaned.
Therefore, today Lu Zhen was riding at the front with his wife following closely behind. After another thirty minutes the two exited the highway and took another road that branched out heading to the abandoned town marked in the map that Lu Tao had provided.
The reason they were using a map provided by Lu Tao and not the official map was because the little town didn’t appear in the official one.
They didn’t know why but they had a feeling that it had sothing to do with whatever they were going to look for there or find.
A small gas station that looked as if it had been abandoned for a long ti appeared in their sight and the two decided to park their bikes there and refill if possible while taking a short break.
Even though they usually rode motorcycles often since the apocalypse, they didn’t ride for so long without stopping.
Their destination is always so distance away from ho, hence there was never a need for breaks.
Today, however, was different. The small gas station had a shop that looked more like a grocery store.
They stopped and parked their bikes near the gas pump and Lu Zhen went to examine if it still worked. To their surprise, despite the appearance of being abandoned, the pump worked perfectly.
What was more, there was gasoline in the underground tank, hence, the two filled their motorcycle tanks to the brim. Not just that, because there was junk lying around, they searched and found a five litre jerrican that they filled with gas as well and tied to Lu Zhen’s motorcycle.
Now they had a way to refill even if they went to a remote place and Leng Pan was afraid of exposing her space.
"Should we check out the grocery store?" Leng Pan asked while peeking inside through the window.
What surprised her though was the difference between the city they had co out of and this remote place.
There were signs of fallen teorites but they were sporadic. Unlike in the city where it seed to have concentrated there, this place was different.
You could walk for two hundred ters without finding even a fragnt of a teorite. Why was that? Was there sothing special about this place?
Leng Pan rembered hearing so stories about places that would be avoided by rainfall as if there was an umbrella in the clouds.
While in other places it rained cats and dogs, such a place would be as dry as a desert. There was no scientific explanation for this, thus, so people would say it’s so sort of sorcery or magic.
However, she never believed in such nonsense. But now after witnessing a place get avoided by even teorites, she felt as if there might be so truth to such claims.
"Okay, let’s check it out. Maybe we will find sothing useful." Lu Zhen of course would agree with his wife.
Even though they were in a hurry so that they could go back ho sooner, that did not an that they would ignore everything on the way.
If they saw sothing useful that could be used by them then they would definitely take it.
Before they try to open the small store, the two first circled the place to the back to see if there was anything unusual and we’re surprised to find a fuel tank at the back of the store.
At first they thought that it was just an empty fuel tank and did not even bother with it. But Leng Pan had learned to always be thorough when doing sothing to avoid loses.
Thus, she climbed to the top of the tank and opened the lid. It looked like the tank had been there for soti as so rust had ford on the edges of the lid and a lot of dust and leaves had also accumulated on top of it.
It was quite obvious that the place had been abandoned long before the apocalypse.
Peeking into the tank, Leng Pan was surprised to find that it was actually full of gasoline.
How on earth did soone wake up one day and leave so much behind?
What made the two uncomfortable was the fact that whoever left that store and gas station didn’t even care about the stock that remained.
What could have forced a business man to abandon stock worth so much money including a tank filled with fuel.
The two didn’t think it was anything good. But anyway, they were benefiting from other people’s losses.
After coming down, Leng Pan didn’t waste any ti and put the tank into the space without hesitation.
She had already surveyed around and realized that there was no other human being near that place. So, there was no possibility of being seen.
After making sure that there was nothing else, Lu Zhen walked to the back door of the store and used his fire superpower to lt the lock.
They also figured that since no one was going to co back there to claim the things left behind, there was no harm even if the lock was destroyed.
Thus, Lu Zhen had no burden lting the lock.
Inside the store, only dust was everywhere. There was so much dust that Leng Pan began to sneeze.
The shelves in the store still had supplies. But Leng Pan didn’t think there was anything that could still be used.
Nevertheless, she decided to examine the products in the shelves in case there was sothing useful.
To her surprise, there were snacks that still had a year or two to their expiry date. That was surprising since she had thought that nothing there was useful.
Without thinking too much, she swept all the snacks into the space.
She also looked at the other products including food stuff such as rice and found so had already expired but looking through the transparent packaging, you obviously couldn’t tell.
Leng Pan was debating with herself on whether to take them with her or leave them when Lu Zhen ca to stand behind her and hugged her from behind.
"Take them, Baby. We don’t have to be the ones to use them. In the coming future, the scarcity of goods will only increase and people will wish to get even a handful of expired rice to make porridge.
Won’t it be good to have this rice or other products to trade for sothing else?
We have the space to fit everything anyway, so, let’s not leave anything behind. Take everything with us, we can sort out the useful ones and what to get rid of later." Lu Zhen advised her this way because he felt that it was the right thing to do.
