In a different place within a military base, the people in the conference room were different from Leng Pan and Lu Zhen who were already fast asleep.
This group of people could not sleep because of what had happened in the base the day before.
They still hadn’t found out how those test subjects escaped and most of all, they had lost every piece of data in that fire. Well, that was what they believed.
And that was what Vanish was aiming for when he asked Mr. Flas to set the place on fire.
"Are you all useless? You can’t even find a group of weak people on the run?" Commander Qui was sitting at the head of the table with a grim expression.
He looked at everyone in the conference room and wondered how useless they could be.
Would he have to call back the Dominion squad to get sothing so simple done? However, he also knew that with the failure of the satellites, finding people who had already escaped for a day wouldn’t be easy.
So, even if he called the Dominion squad back, things might not be better.
This could be proven by the fact that they had spent so much ti tracking down the people who took the catalyst core and had yet to find them.
However, he was still angry that the people here let those test subjects escape. This not only sets them back a lot as all the results had now beco naught, but it would also be more difficult to get more people for experints.
That was because even though there was no technology to pass on information easily anymore, with so many people cramd in the safe base, information about the experints could not be kept under wraps for long.
This was what made him angrier.
"Commander, those people had outside help. We tried to chase after them but their companions ca prepared.
They had a marksman with excellent marksmanship who took out our vehicles while both our cars were moving at impossible speeds.
They also seed to have a superpower user with the ability to explode his ability like a bomb.
It wasn’t that we didn’t try, but the opponent had obviously co prepared." Ouyang Jin, who was also in the conference room pretended not to know what had happened and even explained on behalf of the others how hard they had worked.
One would never have suspected that the whole operation was led by him, and the so-called help was actually his people.
Commander Qui looked at Ouyang Jin with displeasure but said nothing. He had always hated this man who pretended to be self-righteous and refused to bend no matter what.
He was obviously a rank lower than him, but he didn’t fear his authority or take him seriously at all.
Now that they were talking about the experint, he was still acting like losing those people wasn’t a big deal.
In fact, since Commander Qui couldn’t tell everyone the kind of experints he had been doing in the lab underground, he had co up with an excuse about a project that the president had approved to help find a way to help humans beco stronger than zombies and such lies.
Unfortunately, many people present weren’t aware of the real situation and believed him. Only Ouyang Jin and a few others knew what was going on, but they didn’t point it out.
Ouyang Jin especially pretended to be completely clueless because he didn’t want suspicions on him.
He was planning to use this incident to leave the military since he already got what he wanted.
He just hadn’t wanted to disappear without a word in case it caused suspicion to fall on him and put his companions in danger.
"We have more powerful weapons than so rifles, why were you still unable to recapture those people?" Commander Qui didn’t buy Ouyang Jin’s excuse at all.
Another soldier sitting next to Ouyang Jin spoke when he heard that question.
"Commander, we weren’t prepared for such a situation. We didn’t even know about the existence of the laboratory and the people inside.
Also, at that ti a large horde of zombies was attacking the base from all directions, so all the effort had been put into fighting them.
It was only when one soldier noticed so people climbing the wall and running away that he raised the alarm and action was taken.
By the ti we reacted and sent people after those escaping, they had already left the area of influence of the military base and chasing them beca a chore.
With the circumstances that officer Ouyang Jin had ntioned, we were really unable to get them back." That soldier was very detailed and everyone also understood that they couldn’t have been prepared to stop an escape when they didn’t even know that there was sothing to protect in the military base.
Seeing how almost everyone in the room was nodding their heads, Commander Qui was so mad that he nearly exploded, but he was also rational enough to know that they were speaking the truth.
So, he had no choice but to swallow his grievances back into his stomach.
"What else can we do now?" Soone else asked the question in everyone’s mind out loud.
So were actually surprised to know about the lab and the experints. Others felt that since it was sothing to support humanity survival, then it was alright, but others felt otherwise.
Since those subjects escaped with such an elaborate plot, it ant that they were not there willingly.
They felt that it was wrong to use their own citizens for such human experints which would most likely be cruel.
They had vowed to protect the citizens of this country, not to use them for the search of power or whatever else Commander Qui and the others were looking for.
As such, quite a number of people wanted nothing to do with whatever was happening.
Ouyang Jin observed everyone’s expression and knew that so people would want out on this issue. He decided to wait until soone spoke, then he would take advantage of that opening to leave the military altogether.
