After a short clean up, the two walked out of their apartnt and just as expected, there were huge blocks of ice piled up in the corridor.
Each block was about one square ter and could probably supply them with ice cubes for a few days once broken.
However, rembering what Li Yunjia had said, one block of ice would probably be gone in a day.
With a wave of her hand, all the ice blocks in the corridor disappeared.
The weather was still very cold, but since the snow was no longer falling, it felt much warr than before.
Leng Pan took the stairs and headed to the roof to help with the harvesting of ice.
Having experienced another apocalypse, she understood that the changes in weather showed no rcy and those unprepared would lose their lives without warning.
An example of this was the people who died in their sleep when the extre cold started.
So people who were not prepared and froze to death in their sleep without even knowing what was happening.
Leng Pan did not doubt that the heat wave would do the sa thing to those unprepared.
So, now was the ti to get as much ice as possible to be able to survive the heat without facing the danger of sudden death.
However, not many people knew this, which ans that a lot of people would still end up dying from the heat.
On the roof top, there were a lot of people, so cutting ice using swords, others moving the ice blocks and others offering hand warrs to those whose hands had gone numb from touching the ice blocks.
It was team work that wasn’t easy to develop but one could see the cohesion among the team mbers.
This was sothing that Leng Pan had not witnessed in the last apocalypse.
But maybe because they were not prepared the first ti and they panicked due to the situation that could cause their deaths at any ti, the team mbers were always thinking of their gains and losses in the team.
However, after going through one lifeti, they didn’t fear death as before. They also understood that only when humans worked together could they have a chance of survival.
Having personal interests wasn’t bad as it would motivate the people to work harder.
However, if they put their personal interests ahead, then humanity would suffer because that is where traitors ca from.
Now looking at the scene before her, she knew that even though they had new mbers, this apocalypse was going to be different.
She hoped that more humans would survive this ti. The warning they provided would at least be taken seriously by so people, unlike in the past apocalypse where every disaster sprung on them without warning.
Now they had a certain advantage with prior notice.
After two hours of harvesting ice, there was barely any ice left on the roof.
They had only left a thin layer of ice because they didn’t want to take the part that was directly touching the surface of the roof as it was dirty.
It was also during this ti that Leng Pan realized that there were still quite a few families in the surrounding area that had not gone to the safe base.
These were probably people who had so reservations about the legitimacy of the safe base and adopted a wait and see attitude before moving there.
So of these people were now standing on the roof tops of their buildings, basking in the sun that was rising on the horizon.
Others had also climbed out of the windows of the floors that hadn’t been blocked by the snow to ski on the ice.
Children were building snow angels and snown outside.
There was laughter that hadn’t been heard in a long ti.
However, Leng Pan knew that this was just an illusion. An illusion that will be cruelly shattered any ti. But these people were blissfully unaware and probably thought that the apocalypse had ended.
She had witnessed such ignorance before and knew that even if she went to warn those people to be careful, they would probably turn hostile to her.
So, she just watched them and wished that they would survive the coming disaster and get to laugh another ti.
Once the team was done with the ice, they went to have breakfast.
Luckily, Uncle Li was feeling generous that morning and seeing how everyone had worked hard, he invited everyone into the room they had used as a training space for breakfast.
There was soup made from fish heads and mushrooms. There were also burns made from a mixture of vegetables, which was quite refreshing in the cold.
This was one of the most comforting als most of the team mbers had had in a long ti.
"Are we going out again today?" Soone from the team suddenly asked as they were clearing breakfast." The others also wanted to know this and turned to Leng Pan, who for so reason had been crowned the leader, even above Lu Zhen.
However, this was expected considering that so of the mbers had mories from their last life where she was Commander Leng in charge of leading humanity to fight the aliens and zombies.
Moreover, it didn’t matter whether Lu Zhen was selected as the leader because he would still listen to Leng Pan anyway.
So, the people just eliminated the middleman and appointed Leng Pan the leader.
"No, it’s too dangerous going out now. We don’t know when the extre heat will start and if it happens while outside in the open, it could cause a lot of damage.
Let’s wait until the heat starts before we decide what to do.
Since the sun has started shining, it will probably not be long before the extre heat sets.
Instead, start working on installing air conditioning for those who have only one. You will need more than one air conditioner in the house.
Also, if you don’t have a solar system in your apartnt, set one up.
We can take advantage of the heat to generate enough electricity to cool the apartnts and run the freezers at the least." Leng Pan had a further vision than others at this mont.
