"I can hear the people downstairs clearly. Like the middle-aged woman on the tenth floor is scolding her daughter-in-law for being lazy and not waking up early to make breakfast for the family even though her daughter-in-law had already said that she has a fever.
On the twelfth floor there is a child crying asking his mother to buy him fried chicken. Then there is an uncle on the fifteenth floor comforting his wife who is worried about sothing having happened to her parents since they are far from here."
By the ti Lu Tao had finished recounting, even the elders had already realized that sothing unusual was happening. There was no way a normal human being could have such good hearing.
Having the ability to hear what soone is saying on the tenth floor while on the nineteenth floor is completely abnormal.
Li Yunjia put down her chopsticks and turned to her eldest son and daughter-in-law. She could tell that they didn’t seem surprised by Lu Tao’s situation, as if it was normal.
She wanted to know what was happening to her son, so she asked directly.
"Ah Zhen, what’s happening with your brother? How did he develop such good hearing all of a sudden?"
When Lu Tao heard his mother ask this question, only then did he co back to his senses. That’s right, how did he get the ability to hear things from so far away?
Before last night, he couldn’t even hear his roommate snoring at night, but now he could hear soone snoring several floors below his bedroom. That completely defied logic.
"Is it only your hearing that has changed?" Lu Zhen asked.
He wanted to know if his brother had any other abilities, like strength enhancent or sothing like that. But Lu Tao’s answer made him understand that he was ant for support.
"No, now that you ntioned it, sothing else that I didn’t take to heart happened last night before going to sleep." Lu Tao said with furrowed brows.
"What happened?" It was Aunt Li, Uncle Li’s wife who asked.
"Last night I couldn’t sleep because of the noise, so I went to the balcony to look outside and see what was happening. Apart from hearing those people planning how to rescue more people from the debris, I also saw a citizen helping to move a fallen part of a wall and cut his hand.
I could see the drops of blood falling from the cut. That is definitely not normal. How could I see drops of blood so clearly when I was so far away?" Lu Tao finally realized that sothing was wrong with him, not just his ears, but his eyes too.
Lu Zhen put down his chopsticks and looked around the table, only to find that all eyes were trained on him.
"What happened last night was not so teor shower or just teorites falling from the sky and causing a disaster that the governnt could take care of." He started to explain,but Lu Tao cut him off.
"Wait, big brother, what do you an by not a disaster that the governnt could take care of?"
Lu Zhen took a deep breath and turned to look at his younger brother. He wondered how he ended up with such a jumpy and talkative brother.
"If you let finish then you will find out." He said with his usual serious face.
Seeing that serious face, Lu Tao shrank his neck and nodded, "Okay, I won’t interrupt again." He had forgotten how stern his brother could be just because he had seen him looking at his sister-in-law with a gentle gaze and talking to her in a gentle tone. How misleading.
"From now on, things are not going to go back to normal. The issue with Lu Tao is not so temporary side effect of the teorites. It’s a permanent ability that could be very helpful in the future." Lu Zhen didn’t really know if they understood what he ant, or if they understood the gravity of the situation.
"You an there is more to this teor shower than ets the eye?" His mother asked.
As expected of a woman who had mingled in the business world for years. She understood the crux of the matter imdiately. Leng Pan had to give it to her mother-in-law. She was a formidable woman.
"Yes, you might find this hard to believe, but this is the end of the world. But it is just the beginning." Lu Zhen continued but heard a collective gasp coming from several people around the table including his always composed mother, uncle, aunt, and brother.
Only, Leng Pan continued to eat as if this had nothing to do with her.
"Ah Zhen, you are not joking with us, are you?" Aunt Li asked this as she couldn’t fathom the concept of the world ending.
"Aunt, there are so things that cannot be joked about. I am serious. The apocalypse began yesterday with the first teorite that fell.
So type of gas or energy released by those teorites have caused mutation in the human DNA. That’s why Lu Tao developed his hearing and vision abilities.
Now he has super hearing and supervision.
I have fire ability and Panpan has water superpower." Lu Zhen continued to explain everything to the family.
He knew that it was difficult to understand, but he hoped that they could accept the situation soon as that would prevent trouble.
"You and Panpan have abilities too?" Li Yunjia was really shocked this ti. She hadn’t expected all her children to acquire superpowers after sleeping for one night.
"Yes, we have awakened superpowers as well. The sooner we accept this situation, the sooner we can plan for the future." Lu Zhen expressed his thoughts.
"So, your weird behavior with Panpan these few days was because you knew sothing was about to happen. That’s also why you had bring your brother here although he has just started school." It was a statent, not a question as Li Yunjia had already had her doubts before. Now, they were confird.
"You could say that, that’s also why I wanted my uncle and aunt here in case sothing happened, we could protect them." Lu Zhen didn’t beat around the bush and confird his mother’s speculations.
