Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse Chapter 78: A Special Boulder

It was a terrifying yet very realistic scene. So, she didn’t want to risk a zombie coming out of nowhere and scratching or biting her husband and her.

That was why she needed a lethal weapon in hand that could be used without much effort.

The two didn’t talk and just walked towards the huge crater that ford on one part of the road and the other part on the sidewalk.

It was about two ters deep and three ters wide. A huge black boulder with so violet sparks lighting on it from ti to ti was lying inside.

"This should be one of those fallen teorites. But why is it still hot even after three days? Moreover, why are the sparks coming from it purple and not orange like normal fire?" Leng Pan was confused as she observed the boulder inside the crater.

Sothing like this wasn’t described in the book. It was new knowledge for her and it was a bit confusing.

While she was still deep in thought, she heard three gunshots go off in succession. She turned around and found three zombies lying on the ground about ten ters away from them. She couldn’t help but shiver when she thought of what could have happened if Lu Zhen wasn’t alert.

She had been bewitched by the boulder to the point of forgetting the danger around her. What a bad habit and lack of vigilance.

Luckily, her husband was always alert and privy to everything going on around them.

"Take a look at the zombies near this place." Lu Zhen said as he moved closer to Leng Pan so that he could protect her better if sothing happened.

Leng Pan didn’t know what he ant, but she was sure he wouldn’t ask her to do sothing irrelevant. So, she stopped examining the large rock in the crater and turned to look at the zombies moving towards them.

At first she didn’t notice anything, but then when she saw so zombies already within ten ters of their spot, she realized what her husband ant.

Before discussing the issue, both of them raised their guns and shot several tis in different directions. Every bullet hit its mark and zombies fell to the ground.

After clearing all the zombies with a fifty-ter radius, they stopped shooting and turned to examine the boulder again.

"Those zombies are moving faster than the ones further away from this rock." Leng Pan finally voiced her discovery.

"Yes, and I believe it has sothing to do with this boulder. It should be so kind of gas it releases due to the heat that has persisted for three days." Lu Zhen comnted as he narrowed his eyes at the rock.

Leng Pan also thought that the fast mutation of these zombies was related to the boulder.

"Do you think that the other teorites that have fallen are the sa?" Leng Pan asked as she thought about how heavy it would be to move this boulder back ho.

She wasn’t stupid, all the novels she has read all showed that finding sothing unusual among others is always the sa as finding a treasure and leaving it always leads to regret.

She didn’t want to regret anything, so she had to think of a way to carry it back ho without raising any attention.

"No, we saw so of them on our way, they weren’t the sa and looked like ordinary rocks. Also, the zombies in other places that have these boulders still move very slowly." Lu Zhen continued to explain his thoughts as he also thought of taking the boulder back.

Sothing that could help the zombies evolve so quickly must also have an effect on superpowers since both the zombie virus and the superpowers have the sa source.

"Are you thinking about taking it back ho?" Leng Pan asked.

"I am guessing you are thinking about the sa thing." Lu Zhen replied with an indulgent smile as he moved closer to his wife and took her hand.

"Yes, I just don’t know if anyone is watching from sowhere. I could just put the boulder away without any pressure if we were the only ones here." Leng Pan complained because she was aware that Lu Zhen would never allow that.

Even if it was only a 1% chance that she could be discovered, he would not allow her to take the risk. Thus, she could only resign to her fate.

Sure enough, Lu Zhen refused vehently when he heard her comnt.

"Don’t try that or say it. Not even as a joke. Soone sowhere might hear you and put you in danger, I will not allow that." He reiterated as he squeezed her hand so more as if to make sure she was okay and next to him.

Leng Pan had seen many emotions in Lu Zhen and this kind of panic mixed with wariness was the first ti. She understood him though and stopped talking about it.

"We don’t know if it’s okay to touch it. So, how about we search for a vehicle among the abandoned ones that can be used to lift it and transport it to a secluded place where we could make other arrangents?" Leng Pan asked as a way to change the topic and lighten the mood while at the sa ti expressing her idea.

Lu Zhen of course understood that ’making other arrangents’ ant putting it into the space.

This much was acceptable to her so he agreed readily.

"Let’s go check then and see what we can find." Lu Zhen said as he turned around and lifted his gun to shoot more zombies that had co a little too close for comfort and walked back to their motorcycles with his wife.

They didn’t know how far they would have to go to find a vehicle like the one they need, so they had to take their bikes.

Riding again from that place, the two didn’t speed too much this ti and looked at the vehicles abandoned on the roads and also checked a bit further away, but still didn’t see what they were looking for.

As they passed past a car dealership shop, they both stopped and decided to try their luck there.
